"Go ahead and cry, Miko. This was all your doing, you got yourself caught up in something that you weren't supposed to. You weren't supposed to fall in love, but you did. I thought that once you fell in love, you gained more hope for things, but with you I lost the last shard of hope that I member Miko, he will only continue to hurt you if you stay with him."

Summary: Sesshomaru has finally joined with Inuyasha and crew to fight Naraku, who has one half of the Shikon Jewel. Kagome has the other half and has shown the full magnitude in her powers from her recent training sessions with Sesshomaru. With Sesshomaru so close, Kagome realizes that she is falling for the stoic demon Lord that has helped her on many occasions. Will anything come of this?

~~~~~Prologue~~~

I knew that Inuyasha had a suspicion about Sesshomaru and I, but I never knew that it would cause this much pain.

"This Sesshomaru is done. It is clear you made your decision..Remember these words Miko. He will only continue to hurt you if you stay with him." He turns from me and walks into the forest. His silver hair blowing behind him, blowing his crisp, calming scent to my nose. My heart clenches because I know he'll only wait so long before he gives up the tiny shard of hope he holds in his heart.

"Oh, Sesshomaru."

~~~Chapter 1~~~

"What makes you think that he'll want to stay with us?" Miroku asks me, his eyes never leaving the stoic demon lord who stands across the campfire.

"More importantly, how do you know that he won't kill all of us in our sleep and take tessaiga?" Shouts Inuyasha from his perch in a tree above our heads. He was pouting like a toddler, because I was stepping on his toes and inviting his older brother into our fray.

"Because we all have the same goal. It's down to us and Naraku, were either going to find him or we will be caught off guard when he decides to end it all. Lord Sesshomaru and Sango both have been training me in secret, and I am tired of having to sneak off to get in my training. With Sesshomaru here, we can all keep an eye out for one another." I knew I was risking the ire of both of the Inu brothers, by telling my secret, but I was tired of hiding.

"I will be joining your Pack, and will take over the role of Alpha, Kagome will remain the Alpha female, and Inuyasha the Beta." Sesshomaru's soothing baritone washes over my senses and I relax, knowing that he wasn't upset.

"Like hell you will!" Inuyasha snarls, jumping from his perch, landing a blow on Sesshomaru's jaw. In the blink of an eye, Sesshomaru threw his half-brother into a tree, where he slid to the forest floor unconscious.

"We will stay here. Rest, we leave at dawn."
