Of course it had to be broken. On the one day a year when they needed it most - document organisation day. After all Riza thought, nothing ever worked around here. She tried fiddling with the shredder a bit to see if something was lodged but to her shock the metal cutting edge snapped off in her hands. She sighed and headed off to tell the team.

As she walked into the room everyone was rushing about assembling and sorting through piles of paper and other documents. Even though this happened every year they had found it was near impossible to get organised in advance. As she cleared her throat loudly everyone in the office turned to face her as she unveiled the bad news. "The paper shredder appears to be broken beyond repair" she declared as the broken blade was raised for all to see.

At once Falman fell to his knees in despair, dreading the amount of extra work in store for him. Breda simply shook his head as he turned back to work, consoling himself to the fact that his week was ruined. Havoc decided to try and get a cigarette out for a smoke but a glare from Riza made him return it dejectedly to his pocket. Fuery tried to volunteer to fix it but his subjection was shot down when he realized all the interior circuitry had melted together. The only happy person was Colonal Mustang.

Riza couldn't help but look curiously at Mastang as a huge smile crept across his face and the others also turned their gaze. "Why are you grinning like a madman Colonal?" asked Falman, "You do realise this increases your workload too?"

When that smile turned into a devilish grin everyone knew he had a bad idea.

"A bonfire?" asked a curious Havoc, "Sign me up sir!". Roy turned to the rest of the team and explained his idea more clearly to them. "If we can't shred these files we could always just burn them, after all it's what the military used to do and the one and only Flame Alchemist is on hand!"

Slowly the rest of the team broke save Feury broke into a grin, with even Hawkeye's stern look broken by the buzz of excitement in the air. However she had something to say "There's one thing I think everyone overlooked" she stated as peoples faces began to fall "If we wait until night it will be far more impressive." At this the entire team broke into a cheer with even Fuery getting excited now. At that the team began working doubletime as everyone began to rapidly sort through the files in their haste to get out of the office. Even Roy decided to pull his weight on the paperwork churning through it at a rate neither Hawkeye or Falman could keep up with, Riza grinned as she saw the excitement in his eyes.

By the time the sky had started to grow dark and several paper cuts later (Mostly Roy's), all of the documents had been sorted and loaded into boxes and they had begun the process of transporting them over to their cars. They garnered a few odd looks from the rest of the branch as a steady stream of boxes moved throughout the building but only Riza was paying any attention to their surroundings anymore.

Eventually all of the boxes were loaded and they headed off to the fields outside of central. Since not all of them had a car Roy and Riza ended up jammed together in the front of his old car. Yawning loudly Roy began to rest his head on Rizas shoulder as she suddenly shouted "Keep your eyes on the road Colonal!" as the vehicle swerved to the side. Mustang bolted upwards and quickly corrected the cars course. He turned to apologise but stopped when he saw that the Lieutenant was grinning.

Before long they had all arrived at the field and they began to find a place to light the fire. By this point in the day the sun was setting and they all wanted to find somewhere before night fell. Eventually Havoc stumbled into a small pit in the ground - literally and nearly twisted his ankle in it. His cries brought the rest of the team running and once Mustang had made sure he wasn't hurt they began to tear up some of the paper into kindling for the fire.

At last the fire pit was ready and as the sun dipped along the horizon the team gathered round. "I think Colonal Mustang should do the honors" spoke Riza, her dry voice concealing the joy she was feeling right now. After a unanimous agreement from the rest of the team Roy advanced towards the pit and crouched down. With a single click of his fingers the paper caught alight from within and soon bloomed into flame. He stepped back as Havoc, Feury, Falman and Breda ran forwards to throw paper on the fire as Roy spoke out "make sure not to smother it" as he took his place at his Dear Lieutenants side.

As the stars shone overhead and a roaring fire burned in front of them Roy pulled Riza closer, their arms intertwined as they watched the documents burn. As Riza looked over at Roy she couldnt help but notice how the fire reflected into his eyes, filling them with a bright orange glow as she spoke, her voice quiet and delicate "I've actually enjoyed today Colonel, although I do wonder why the shredder decided to give up today of all days - it's a real shame how all of its insides were burnt..." As Roy turned to her their eyes met and he hugged him tighter, and Mustang just grinned.
