Everything I Need

Mana woke up to her brother shouting at someone on the phone. She got out of bed and changed into her school uniform. She walked out of the room to see that Mahad was practically screaming at the person on the other line. She sat down and helped herself to the breakfast that was on the table while Mahad continued to argue on the phone.
"I don't care," he shouted, "I won't force her to do something that she doesn't want to do!"
He slammed the phone down onto the receiver. Mana looked up at him as he sat down in a chair with a sight of frustration. He buried his face into his hands.
"What's wrong," Mana asked.
"I just got off the phone with the elders of our old village," he explained, "They want to arrange a marriage between you and Chike."
Mana's heart sank to her stomach. Chike had always bullied her when she was a child and would call her useless. Mana never wanted to see him again. She dropped her chopsticks that landed onto the table as her body began to shake. Mahad stood up and ran over to wrap his arms around her. He knew how she felt about this boy and he could understand how she would react this way. He never liked the boy either since he watched them as children and the number of times that the boy made Mana cry.
"Don't worry Mana," he said, "I'm not letting you marry that awful boy."
"I-I know," Mana replied, "I just don't want to hear about him ever again."
Mahad went to say something when there was a knock on the door. Mahad walked to the door and looked over at his sister before opening the door. Mana looked up thinking that it was the boy in question but smiles when she realized that it wasn't him. It was her loving boyfriend Atem Muto standing there in the doorway.
"Hello Atem," said Mahad, "what brings you here?"
Atem held up a plate that Mahad had left at Atem's place the last time they came over for dinner. Mahad chuckled realizing that his mother had sent him to drop off the plate. She probably wanted to get him out of the house or maybe she had friends over that he probably didn't' want to be around but more likely he wanted to see Mana.
"Thank you," he said as he took the plate from him.
Mana felt better at the sight of her boyfriend. Atem's presence was enough to calm her down when she was upset. Mahad stepped aside to let him inside. Mana stood up walking toward them. She wanted to be in his arms right now since he always made her feel better and so loved. Atem stepped into the apartment as he thanked him. Mahad nodded before walking away to let them be knowing that if anyone could make Mana feel better it was Atem.
Atem smiled at his girlfriend with a loving look in his eyes. She ran over and jumped onto him. Atem chuckled as he caught her. They kissed in greeting. He sat her down onto her feet. She wrapped her arms around his waist. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her. They stood there just holding each other. They looked into each other's eyes before they kissed again. They walked toward the couch and sat down.
"How are you love," he asked.
"I'm good, I'm even better now that I have my Temmy," she said.
Atem chuckled finding her adorable. He kissed her cheek before he reached into his pocket for something that he had been meaning to give her. He pulled out a box and handed it to her. She looked at him confused as she opened it. Atem smiled as she opened the box to see the necklace with a green jewel that matched her emerald eyes.
"Do you like it," he asked.
She jumped onto him making him fall backwards on the couch and showered him with affection. Atem smirked as she showered him.
"I take it that means you like it?"
"I love it,"
"I'm glad, I've been meaning to give it to you for a while and I'm glad that you love it."
"I love whatever you give me, Temmy, I love you."
"I love you too," he replied, "you're everything I need in this world and I can't imagine life without you."
She smiled and snuggled to him. Atem smirks and wrapped his arms around her. She placed her head onto his chest.
"You're the best Temmy."

Mana was on her phone checking some things on her social media when she noticed that Chike had followed her on her profile. The memories of this boy came flowing back. She dropped her phone onto the bed and buried her face into her hands. The tears fell down her face as those horrible memories entered her mind. She couldn't believe it; her old bully had a way to get to her. She couldn't let anyone know about this especially Atem knowing that he would step in and defeat her from this boy. There was no doubt that Chike would be harassing her.
How could she handle this now? She heard her notifications going off. She picked up the phone to see that Chike had messaged her with several messages. She decided not to response to him. She saw that she got a message from Anzu a friend of hers. She smiles and checked the message. Apparently, Anzu wanted to throw a party for Atem since he had just gotten into the best college in the country. Mana smiled feeling proud of her boyfriend.
Mana asked for the details and what she needed to do. She knew that she had to get him a present. She waited for Anzu to reply back when Chike massaged her again. She didn't response as Anzu came back and told her what was needed. As she was replying Chike kept messaging her. Mana had finished replying before she decided to see what he wanted.
"Hey there it's been a while."
"Are you getting my messages?"
"Why aren't you replying to me? We haven't seen each other in a while."
"Answer me you stupid bitch!"
"I know that you're online so you better reply bitch."
"You better answer me since you're going to be my wife!"
"I'm coming to your town so my family and yours can go over the arrangements."
When she read that last message it made her blood turned cold. She was beginning to panic at this point. She ran into the living room to find her brother sitting on the couch. He looked up as he heard the door slamming against the wall. He noticed the look on Mana's face. He stood up asking her what was wrong. Mana showed him the messages and his face turned pale. He pulled out his phone and called the boy's father.
Mana sat on the couch curled up into a ball. Mahad was practically shouting on the phone with the father. He knew that the father wouldn't listen to what he had to say.
"I don't want your son around my sister," he snarled, "If you show up to our apartment then I will call the police! I'm not going to care what the elders say since we don't live in the village anymore and this isn't the village. Mana is free to marry who she wants to marry. In fact there is a boy that I would be glad to have as a brother-in-law and it isn't your son!"
Mana knew that he was talking about Atem. Mana had imagined what it would be like if she and Atem gotten married and had a family. Atem would be an amazing husband and would be a great father. She would become his wife if he asked her. She would be happy to marry him. Atem was amazing to her and he would die before he raised a hand to her or insult her. Chike called her names and even knocked her to the ground a few times before he continued to punch her several times in her face. The boy was nothing but a bully to her.
Mahad hung up the phone and walked over to the couch. He sat down and pulled her toward him wrapping his arm around her head like he did when she was little.
"Don't worry Mana, that boy won't touch you ever again."
#
"So, does Atem expect anything," Anzu asked Yugi.
"Nope," Yugi replied, "so far he doesn't notice anything."
"Who are you talking about," a voice asked.
They all tensed up when they heard Atem's voice. Mana; who had been quiet the whole time during lunch looked up to see her boyfriend. She felt safe with her friends around even more so now that Atem was around.
"What up Atem," said Jonouchi cheery.
"Okay, mind telling me why you guys are so jumpily," Atem asked.
"We're not jumpily," Yugi replied with a nervous laugh.
"Rrright,"
Atem walked over to Mana and sat down besides her wrapping his arm around her shoulders. Mana smiled as he kissed her forehead. She placed her hand onto his chest as she snuggled close to him. Atem had noticed that Mana was acting strange all day but he decided not to push it knowing that Mana would tell him what was bothering her sooner or later.
He wasn't going to press her. He would be patient since he was always patient with her. He stroked her hair as she closed her eyes while resting her head onto his shoulder. Yugi and the others started whispering about the party that they planned since they knew that Atem's full attention would be on his girlfriend. When Mana was around it easy was for Atem to get distracted by her presence. Atem kissed her tenderly on the top of the head.
#
Mana was walking home from school when something knocked into her. She fell against the wall of the building on her left hard. She looked to see a boy with dark hair that was lying flat on his head with dark eyes. Mana's heart sank to her stomach as she recognized the boy.
"C-Chike," she said shaking with fear at the sight of the boy.
"I told you that I was coming to your town," Chike snarled, "what makes you think that you could ignore me?"
He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her toward a car that was sitting on the side of the road. Mana could see his father sitting in the driver seat watching him just drag her toward the vehicle. Chike slammed her against the car and punched her face hard.
"You're coming with us," he snarled, "your brother can't go against the elders. You're going to be my wife and if you try to argue then I'll broke your arm."
"You can't do this," Mana snapped, "This is kidnapping."
"Like I care,"
A fist flew in the air slamming into his cheek causing him to go flying to the side hitting the light pole on the left. Mana felt strong arms gently removed her from the car. The father got out of the car to see his son go flying. Mana looked to see Atem holding her against his chest as he glared at the boy that was slowly getting to his feet.
"Are you alright love," he asked.
"Yeah," she replied.
Atem examined her face to see that she had blood dripping down her chin. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief. He wiped the blood running down her chin. He glared over at Chike as he walked toward them. Atem put Mana behind him as he took a step forward. This boy had some nerve laying a hand on his Mana.
"Who the hell are you," Chike asked.
"I should be asking you that," Atem replied with venom entering his voice, "what gives you the right to raise a hand to a girl?!"
"That's none of your business," Chike snarled, "She's mine."
"That's where you're wrong, she's my girlfriend and I have every right to protect her from someone that would hurt her."
Chike walked over to them and went to punch Atem but Atem was quicker and kneed him in the gut. Chike stepped back holding his stomach. Atem slammed his fist into his face causing him to fall back to the ground. He turned to the older man standing there watching the fight between them. He jabbed a finger at the old man's direction.
"You, if you're this boy's father then I suggest that you teach him not to raise a hand to a girl or to learn to show some respect."
"You have no right to infer," said the father, "the elders of our village have arranged for that girl to marry my son."
"This isn't your village and Mana has every right to chose who she wishes to marry," Atem hissed, "if I see you either of you anywhere near her then I won't hesitate to deal with you myself."
He grabbed Mana's wrist and walked away from them. Mana looked over her shoulder at them. Chike shouted after them that he would get Atem back for this and that she was his. Atem walked her to her apartment. He stopped once they reached the security door that led to the apartment building before he let her go.
"Are you alright love," he asked when he turned to her, "I should've…"
Mana flew her arms around him as he spoke. He wrapped his arms around her as she buried her face into his chest. He could feel her shaking in his arms. He realized that she was scared which was rare for her since she was always so brave for as long as he knew her.
"Its okay love, I've got you."
#
"I see," said Atem as he and Mahad were talking.
Atem had explained to him what happened when he found them standing outside of the building with Mana shaking in his arms. They went inside and Mahad had Mana go to her room to change while he spoke with Atem. He wanted Mana to calm while they spoke.
"So this boy, Chike has been bullying her."
"That's right, Mana is of marrying age in our old village and the elders will choose who the girl will marry. They chose that horrible boy to marry my sister. I've been putting my foot down. I've seen how he treats my sister during the time they were growing up. I'm sure once his family heard that Mana was to marry their son; they probably came here to get her."
"But you've refused," Atem pointed out, "they can't do anything without your say so as Mana's guardian."
"They shouldn't but that family thinks that they can do what they well the youngest daughter isn't like and has been on Mana's side the whole time. She contacted me when she heard that her brother and father were coming to kidnap her. I tried to call Mana to tell her that I was on my way to pick her up but I couldn't get a hold of her."
"You could file charges against them for attempt of kidnapping," Atem replied, "I'm sure that there were cameras that were around the area that they tried to take her and I would gladly testify as a witness."
"I know you would," Mahad replied, "but I'm sure if that wouldn't work."
"So what are you going to do about them?"
"I'll see what my options are legally."
#
Mana had heard everything that her boyfriend and brother were saying. She was glad that they were willing to do what they could to protect her. She knew that she could count on them. She smiled feeling relieved to have them in her life. Her smile faded as she got a message from Chike on social media. She looked to see that he was cursing her out and was threatening to head to her apartment building and set it on fire.
The door opened and she looked to see Atem stepping into the room to check on her. He was probably about to leave and wanted to say goodbye. She went over to him and wrapped her arms around him. She didn't want to him to go just yet.
"Is everything okay love," he asked.
"Could you stay a little longer," she asked.
"Of course love, I'll stay as long as you want me to."
#
Mana was curled up to Atem under the blankets with their clothes all over the floor of her room. She looked up at the man lying beside her naked. She felt so loved with this man. He would go out of his way to make her feel love every chance he could. He was everything that she wanted or needed in this world. Atem was lying there asleep with both arms around her waist. She looked at his face as she studied the features of her beloved.
There was so much that he had done for her during their time together as a couple. She reached up and stroked his cheek as she stared at him. She loves this boy and she believes that he would make a great husband and father someday. She kissed him tenderly as he continued to sleep. She wrapped her arms around him as she snuggled closer.
"You're everything that I need Atem," she whispered into his chest.
She heard her phone going off. Mana reached over and grabbed the phone from her nightstand. She looked to see that Chike had sent her a message. She looked and what she read made her heart drop to the floor.
"I'm right outside your apartment complex. Come out here now or I'll storm in there and drag you out."
Mana would have panicked but she remembered that he couldn't get in because of the security door that led into the building. Only those with keys to the door could get in. Mana knew that he couldn't get in unless someone let him in but since he was a stranger no one would let him in. More than likely someone would call the police on him for trespassing. She smiled at the thought before she set the phone back down onto the nightstand.
She turned around to face her sleeping boyfriend. If he did managed to get inside; he needed a key to the apartment and there was no way that Mahad or herself would ever give him one. If he got inside; Mahad and Atem would be right there to chase him off or they would call the police. Mana knew that she was safe with them around.
She placed her head onto Atem's chest and was about to close her eyes when she heard yelling coming from outside. She remembered that she had her window since it was nice outside and the breeze felt nice. Atem woke up to the sound of shouting. Mana knew that it was Chike calling to her to let him in. Atem sat up and grabbed his boxers and jeans to put them before walking to the window. He looked down to see Chike standing there.
Mana had grabbed his shirt and put it on before walking toward the window beside him. Chike looked up to see them looking down at him.
'What are you doing with him," He barked, "you're mine bitch. Open the door and let me in!"
"You don't give up do you," Atem replied coldly, "Mana doesn't belong to you. Leave her alone or I will make sure that you go back to your country in a body cast."
"Are threatening me?!"
"Maybe," said Atem crossing his arms, "I'll gladly go to jail if that means I keep you away from my love."
"Atem," said Mana.
Atem looked at her; his eyes went from hatred to love in an instant. He reached up and closed the window so they couldn't hear Chike shouting at them. He wrapped his arms around her pulling her close. Mana placed her hand onto his chest. He nuzzled his face into her hair. Mana wrapped her arms around his waist.
"You're safe love," he said, "I wouldn't let him touch you."
"I know," she replied, "This all happened because I'm of marrying age in my village."
"Mana," he said titling her head up to look him in the eye, "This isn't your fault. Those people don't understand that you aren't apart of their village anymore but if this is because they want to marry you off then maybe if you were spoken for then they would leave you alone."
"Temmy are you…"
Atem got down onto one knee and reached into his pocket. He had thought about this for a long time. He did get accepted into one of the best colleges in the country but for him that meant nothing. What meant the most was her? He wanted to be with her for as long as he could. He knew that she was the one that he wanted to be his wife.
"Mana, I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I've known from the first time that we meet that you were the one. I love you more than anything and I would do anything to have you at my side forever. You're everything I could ever need in this world," he said as he pulled out a small box from his jeans pocket and opened to reveal a beautiful ring with a beautiful green jewel that matched her eyes, "You're the love of my life, will you marry me?"
Mana's eyes widened as a gasp escaped her lips. She couldn't believe it. She had thought about what it would be like to be his wife but never had she thought that it would be this soon. They were still in high school. She looked at the boy holding the ring.
"But what about college," she asked, "You got accepted to the best school in the country."
"That means nothing to me," he replied, "You mean more to me than anything. You're everything I could ever want or need in this world. I want to spend my life with you. I want to have a family with you and for us to grow old together."
"You would give up a chance to go to the best college in the country for me?"
"I would do anything for you love."
Mana touched his cheek as she stared into his beautiful violet eyes. She could see the love that was in his eyes.
"Can't ask you to do that for me Atem," she said, "I love you enough to marry you but I can't ask you to give up something as great as this. That would be selfish of me, I want you to go and get the best education that you can. You deserve this and you shouldn't pass this up. I'll be waiting for your return."
"Mana…"
He stood up and wrapped his arms around her pulling her toward him. She looked at him as he stroked her cheek.
"I know that you would say something like that love, which is why I've come up with a plan so that way we can be together. There are apartment buildings near the college, we could get one. I just want to have you in my life. I know that this is a great opportunity for me but what good would it do if I don't have the woman I love at my side."
"Are you saying that you want me to go with you?"
"Of course love, I want you to come with me. We can get an apartment together and then we can get married."
Mana smiled and tackled him onto the bed showering him with affection. Atem chuckled as he was use to this now. He didn't expect anything less from his Mana. He wrapped his arms around her as she kissed his face.
"Yes," she said, "I'll marry you."
He smiled and they kissed again. He slipped the ring onto her finger. They smiled before she kissed his lips while slipping her hands into his jeans.
"Round two," she asked in that tone that would make him weak.
"Of course love."
#
"You heard me," said Mana as she was talking to the elder on the phone, "I'm engaged to my boyfriend. You don't have to arrange anything for me now."
She hung up before they could say anything. Mahad was fighting back his laughter. Apparently he knew that Atem was going to prose since he had asked for his permission to marry her. Mahad gave it to him since he liked Atem and knew that he would make Mana very happy as a husband. Mana smiled at her brother.
"Now that just leaves Chike and his family," she said.
"Oh don't worry about them;" said Mahad, "someone reported them for coming to this country illegally."
"You didn't."
"I didn't, Atem did."
"That's my fiancé."
"You did block him didn't you?"
"I did, he won't be contacting me any time soon."
"Good to hear."
Mana looked at her phone and gasped. The party that Anzu and the others were throwing for Atem to congratulate him for getting in the best college in the country was in five minutes. She had to get there before Atem did.
"I'm late," she cried out jumping to her feet.
"What's going on," Mahad asked.
"Anzu and the others are throwing a surprise party for Atem congratulate him for getting into college. I got to go see ya."
She ran out the door without her shoes. Mahad called out the hall as she ran. She cried out realizing it and came back to exchange them. Mahad watched as she threw them on and headed down the hall running pass their neighbors.
#
"I'm here," she said as she ran into the room.
"Oh hey Mana," said Anzu.
Mana looked around and that noticed that the others weren't there. She knew that she had the right date and time. Were they running late or something? She looked to see the look on Anzu's face which told her that something must have happened.
"Where are the others," she asked.
"I was going to call you," said Anzu, "Atem is in the hospital."
"WHAT?!"
"Apparently, he was attacked by some foreigner," Anzu explained, "Yugi according to the foreigner was being deported and he was blaming Atem for it. Atem didn't deny it though and said that he had it coming and then…the foreigner pulled out a gun. Atem had pushed Yugi back and was shot in the chest."
Mana couldn't believe it. Chike went after the most important person in the world to her. He attacked Atem and could have killed him in the process.
"W-where are the others?!"
"They went to the hospital, I told them that I would wait for you," Anzu explained, "I know that you're the one person that should know this more than anyone."
Mana fell onto her knees. She had finally gotten rid of him but he had hurt her again. Anzu got down to her knees and wrapped her arms around her. Mana buried her face into her hands, if Atem dies then how could she live without him. She couldn't imagine a life without Atem. He was everything that she could want or need in this world. She looked down at the ring on her finger. She held it to her chest.
She was going to marry him but now someone had taken what was the most precious person from her. The phone rang and Anzu stood up to answer it.
"Hey Jonouchi, how is he?"
Mana didn't pay attention to the phone as her whole world was falling apart. She looked up at her friend as Anzu was talking with Jonouchi on the other line. She buried her face into her hands as the tears fell down her face. She felt someone tap her shoulder. She looked up to see Anzu holding the phone out to her. She didn't want to talk to anyone right now; all she wanted was her Atem. She took the phone from her and held it up to her ear.
"H-hello," she said shakily.
"Mana…"
That voice was Atem's. He was alive! The tears fell harder now but this time from joy than sorrow. Her Atem was alive.
"Atem," she said.
"Are you alright love?"
"I should be asking you that."
"I'm fine, he missed the vital organs."
"I'm so glad that you aren't dead."
"Me too love,"
"Temmy, will you be okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just swore is all."
"I was afraid that I lost you."
"I'm not going anywhere love. After all you are going to be my wife."
Mana could hear the other boys cry out in shock. She heard Atem telling them to be quiet. He didn't want to be interrupted while he spoke to his fiancé.
"I'll be able to leave the hospital soon."
"Do you want me to come there?"
"No, but I'll head to your apartment once I'm discharged."
"Okay, I love you Temmy."
"I love you too Mana."
She hung up the phone and wiped her eyes. Anzu had sat down beside her smiling glad to know that her best friend was okay and that he was going to be fine. She patted her shoulder while still smiling. Mana looked at her returning the smile.
"We should have known that Atem would be stubborn about this," she said.
"Yeah," Mana replied, "I'm glad to know that he'll be okay."
They heard Anzu's phone going off. She looked to see that it was Yugi calling her. She stood up as she took it out of her pocket. She walked away to answer the phone and to let Mana calm down some more. Mana looked down at the ring on her finger. Atem was going to be okay and they were going to get married once he graduated from college.
#
Mana stood there cooking on the stove of the apartment she shared with her fiancé. Atem walked into the room after class with his bag over his shoulder and two textbooks under his arm. They both had jobs to pay rent and for food. Atem's schooling was paid by the scholarship that he had for the college. She looked over her shoulder as he walked into the apartment.
"How was school," she asked.
"The usual," Atem replied setting down his bag and books that were under his arm onto the coffee table.
He walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. He kissed her on the cheek. Mana smiled and looked at him.
"Smells delicious love," he said.
"I hope that you're hungry," she said.
"I am."
"Well go wash up, dinner is almost ready."
He chuckled as he kissed her cheek again before walking away to wash up. She had finished making dinner and turned off the stove before bringing the pot to the table. Atem came back and helped her set the table. They sat down and ate while talking about their day. It was nice to have each other to come home to.
"That does sound rough," she said.
"You have no idea," Atem replied, "it's hard to study while some girl is trying to hit on me. That's what I hate about college. I'm just here to study and get a diploma."
"How do you think I feel to hear that some girl is hitting on my Temmy."
Atem chuckled as she used that child like tone that he found adorable. He reached over and grabbed her hand. She smiled and held his hand as he squeezed it. He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed her knuckles as he usually did.
"Don't worry love," he said, "All I need is you."
Mana smiled at his words. They finished eating and did the dishes. Once they were finished Mana started kissing him on the lips which he returned. She pushed him into their room and pushed him onto the bed. They deepened the kiss as their hands started to roam over each other's bodies. Mana moaned as Atem's tongue entered her mouth.
"I love you Mana."
"I love you too Atem."
