I do not own any of these characters. Only the storyline. Thanks for reading!

Her hand ached as she reread what she had written. Tears fell silently down her face like raindrops rolling down a window. Her heart was in pieces and it was all her fault. She looked out the window and stared at the foggy faded silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. She reprimanded herself quietly, she made a choice and she knew she had to follow through on it, even if it killed her.
Because staying, would only destroy her. He had been slipping away, she knew it. She was saving herself the pain of his choice, by making it hers. Paris had seemed like pages out of a fairytale at first. She smiled softly to herself as she remember all the walks she had taken with him down the streets of Paris. Every time he leaned in to kiss her made the sparks appear, as light and shiny as possible. The effortless air surrounding them, every act so natural, so right. But the longer they stayed, and the deeper her feelings got, was the farther he seemed to be. The distance had swept between them silently, so quietly she didn't even notice at first. But then the laughter that made her heart warm at the sound of it floating through the air didn't happen as often. His smiles seemed forced and his cobalt blue eyes had a haunted look to them. She knew. She knew he was going to leave, so she was going go before she got hurt.
She got up and set the letter down on the nightstand. She put on her coat and picked up her bags and walked to the door. She stopped and turned around. Studying his handsome face memorizing every detail. His eyes were closed, hiding those blue eyes. His hair was ruffled giving him more of a careless look as he slept. His hand lay at the side of the bed where she used to sleep. Almost as if he was searching for her. Her heart broke a little at the thought of him missing her. But he wouldn't. He had been pulling away, the silence giving her more of an answer than he ever would. She remember that fateful day where she knew. Knew that it would end. Knew it was probably already over. It was by the river, a beautiful sunny day. The warm sun was trickling warm rays down her back as she gazed into those brilliant blue eyes. She whispered 'I love you' as warmth flooded through every inch of her after he pulled away from their kiss. His eyes betrayed nothing, no hint of emotion. 'That'll be the day' he had said, almost coldly now that she thought about it. She had laid in bed that night next to him, but the warmth that he usually brought was cold and almost foreboding. She didn't cry, she never really cried. But the emptiness that filled her at her sudden realization that maybe he didn't feel the same about her. Maybe he didn't love her, because if he did, wouldn't he of said it? What if he was leaving? They didn't have much time left in Paris after all. The op they were running was nearly over, they would be going back to D.C soon. And when they did.. would he pretend like nothing happened, like none of it was real? She remember how her heart had stopped at where that led. What if none of it was real... after all, their cover was a husband and wife. She could still felt the pain of those thoughts slicing little streaks in her heart. But once that thought was in her head, the more she seemed to believe it. The more proof she saw that maybe that was how it was. If that was true, she wouldn't be able to pick up the pieces of her heart. Too much of it was his anyway. Her breath stuttered as her grip on the bags tightened. She had to leave. Sure he had said that when they got back, she could move in with him. But her father had always told her that actions speak louder than words, and his certainly did. She wasn't going to hold on to empty promises, not when everything he did seemed like he was going to leave her. She had never believed those love story's that seemed too good to be true, and they always were. Because the girls always seemed to hold on a moment too long, always seemed to give one chance to many, and always ended up more hurt and more broken than before. She was never going to be that girl that was left behind. So she was leaving. Leaving him with only a letter explaining that she had gone, that she thought it was over. She put her hand on the door and turned the knob. Slipping quietly out the door, she looked back one last time, because what heart doesn't, and whispered
"Goodbye Jethro"
