Shouyou Hinata was never a bad child: but he was far from mundane. The child was always occupied, playing with anything he could get his greasy little hands on. Yet he radiated a strange energy.

At first his foster parents fought to ignore the way the boy behaved, but the longer they were around him the longer he slowly became what was only describable as an inconvenience to the the otherwise respected family. The Hinata family had tried all sorts to figure out what was so wrong about Shouyou. They had even gone as far as to adopting another child into the family: Natsu.

What the Hinata family's friends didn't understand was why they thought of adopting a child in the first place. Soji and Yachi Hinata were a young couple, who had little to no interest in raising a family so soon in their lives.

Sure, they had talked about bringing a child into the world, but they hadn't expected how it would happen.

On a drizzly afternoon the newly wed couple were astonished to find a tightly wrapped package on their doorstep. A moving package.

Hesitantly the two brought the wet lump inside the once cosy home. They opened it up with confusion present in their eyes. Inside a small baby snoozed away oblivious the the inconveniences he would bring to his new home, wrapped tightly in a cotton blanket monogrammed with his name. Hinata.

Newly eleven year old Hinata couldn't have been described as dull, typical or unremarkable. At first the couple welcomed the child as their own, but soon after the family suffered terribly. The liveliness of the couple was soon sucked out of them, leaving them with dropping, tired eyes. They knew it was no coincidence that this had all started the day the child had ratted into their home. So they treated him as such.

Hinata's eleventh birthday came around and he had expected nothing out of the usual, maybe a few happy birthday cards from his so called 'family' and that was pretty much it.

Until the knock of the door rattled the walls of the house. Nothing out of the ordinary, his foster parents had clients come 'round all the time to discuss meetings. Generally he would be told to 'stay out of the way' of these meetings, so he made his way back up the stairs to his cramped room. His foster father half heartedly opened the door to the client.

"Is there a Shouyou Hinata living here?"

Hinata stopped dead in his tracks, someone wanted him?

At the door his foster father cursed the boy under his breath, "What has he done now? Stupid kid." The man at the door creased his brow.

"I can assure you he has done nothing wrong, sir," Now it was his foster fathers turn to be confused, in his mind the words Shouyou and trouble seemed to fit together like a puzzle.

"Then why do you wanna see him?" Soji gestured for his 'son' to join him at the door, "Who even are you?"

"My name is Takeda, and I would like to speak to your son about where he will be spending his next year of his education,"

Hinata scoffed at how the two were talking about him as though he wasn't in their presence.

"He's right here. So start talking." His foster father aggressively told the other, pushing Hinata forward.

"May we speak in private?" Takeda requested, choosing to ignore how ignorant Hinata's father was being.

"This is private."

"I meant just me and your son."

Soji Hinata openly cringed at the word son.

"Fine," he checked his wrist-watch, squinting as he did so, "You have twenty minutes." He walked off leaving Shoyou with Takeda.

"Do you believe in wizards, Shouyou?"

At first Hinata thought he was joking, yet Takeda didn't laugh. It was a genuine question. "Wait, what?"

Takeda only repeated the original question, as though it was something Hinata was supposed to be used to answering.

"I mean, yo-you don't really see them often," Shouyou let out a nervous chuckle, subconsciously stroking the back on his neck.

Takeda laughed with the boy, it was clear to the man that Hinata had no clue about his blood-family.

"You're a wizard, Shouyou." Hinata wanted to laugh out loud, he wanted to pat the strange man on the back and tell him he was obviously crazy. Still, though, part of him believed it.

"There's a whole world full of magic,"

"What are you talking about?"

"We have our own society, hidden from muggles. I came here to talk to you about being a pupil at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry,"

Muggles? Hogwarts? Witchcraft?

"What's a muggle?"

Takeda patted the red-headed boy on the head and passed him an envelope. Shouyou doubtfully ripped open the paper, overwhelmed by what was happening.

He unfolded the letter an carefully read it, he was unaware of the smile present on his face.

Once Hinata had finished reading Takeda asked him again. "Do you believe in wizards?"

Instead of questioning Tadeka's mental stability, Hinata instead nodded sending a smile to the man beside him: who faithfully returned it.

"I'll be back in a week to take you to Diagon Alley," Tadeka swiftly left the house the way he came in: leaving a confused eleven year old Hinata behind.

In the week leading to Tadeka's arrival Hinata found it easier to put up with his foster parents. Sure, they still treated him as though he was simply gum purposely stuck to the back of their shoes. It didn't bother Hinata anymore. If Tadeka came back then he would be free from the gloomy house for the entire school year! Finally he had something to look forward to.

He had thought about what Tadeka had said, about him being a so-called wizard, it seemed so real. There was something off about the whole thing, how come he had never known he was a wizard? Why was he a wizard? What do wizards do?

Was he even a wizard?

He pushed that thought to the back of his mind, ignoring the ever growing chain of lawless considerations.

Tadeka would come tomorrow.

He had to.

To Hinata's joy, Tadeka made himself present the next morning. The morning had been otherwise uneventful for Hinata, with his foster parents having always been desperate to avoid the boy he only had his little sister to talk with.

She had been amazed at what Hinata had reported back to her about wizards and witches, it felt wrong to tell her. Like it was a secret you weren't meant to just go and say. Yet Natsu was only seven: even if she did say anything to anyone else they would have just assumed it was her misleading imagination.

Tadeka waited outside of Shouyou's home, leaning on his rather clunky-looking motorcycle. He waved goodbye to his foster family, anticipating his day of special wizard shopping. He was going to be the greatest wizard of his age, he knew it!

He and Tadeka were to make it to Hogwarts in record time: with Tadeka driving his motorcycle and Shouyou perched in the cramped side-car. Shouyou's knees being up by his chin and his oversized goggles, earlier given to him by Tadeka, hanging off his face made the poor boy look as though he was trying on some sort of cheap wasp costume.

"Are you afraid of heights?" Tadeka revved the engine.

"No, I'm no—,"

"Great!"

Without warning the motorcycle set off at full speed. Hinata barely had time to register was was happening, as his small body rattled around. However, when his reality cleared up again he was stunned to find that the two of them were headed straight towards the uninhabited playground Hinata had once played at. Shouyou screamed as they neared the tarnished brown gate, what a great way to die. Before they made contact with the gate, Hinata closed his eyes to wish his crappy family goodbye.

Hinata waited for them to smash dead on the metal, he waited: but nothing happened. He fought up the courage to open his eyes, the red-head looked down and found they weren't even on the ground. They were flying!

Shouyou's wasp-goggles threatened you fall off of his head into the abyss, so he backed back down into the compact side car. Beside him, Tadeka's chuckling merged with the sound of the clattering engine.

"To diagon alley!" He cheered.
