Hello everyone!
So…let me explain what this is.
There was such a tone change between Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker that it literally feels there should've been another film in between those two films. There are many reasons for that.
For one, the film was initially three hours long, and then at the last minute, right before the premiere, it was cut down to two hours and twenty-two minutes (roughly) without JJ Abrams' knowledge. This was a move made by the company that owns Star Wars now, and it is not something I agree with or appreciate.
Secondly, the film had an entirely different script, even including a huge battle on a colonized Coruscant between the Resistance and The First Order led by Leia, but for obvious reasons they had to change it after Carrie Fischer's passing. Also, the script was initially written by another director guy who yeeted from the project, and then JJ was invited to work on it, with, unbeknownst to him, extreme restrictions of creative freedoms. So as much as I loved Rise of Skywalker, creatively, and in terms of writing, it was a huge clusterfuck of conflicting forces. There is an inconsistency in cohesion amongst the films, especially in the case of Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.
So…that's what this is. The story in between the stories. It'll cover the year between Last Jedi & Rise of Skywalker. I'm going to pull in canon elements, but the story itself is purely my own making. However, I do not claim any of the characters, planets, names, or any other aspects of the Star Wars Franchise that belongs to Lucas Films or Disney, whichever it is now.
