Hera, queen of the gods and goddess of marriage sat upon her peacock throne, listening to Demeter's tired argument as to why her daughter should be returned to her. It had been the same for years. Persephone would spend a short season with her mother and then would almost sprint to the gates of the underworld where she would be reunited with her beloved husband' and then Demeter would come to Olympus

Hera toyed with the ruby peacock brooch that had been left at her temple. Hades and Persephone had a truly blessed marriage and always made sure to leave offerings of gratitude.

"Demeter," Zeus said wearily. "An agreement has been set, one you forced through blackmail and genocide. Ares is still complaining about the fact that your body count is higher than his. Hades did not have to agree; he did only out of mercy to you and love for his family. Without the humans, we ALL die...save for the gods of the underworld."

"Hades is a faithful and devoted husband Demeter," Hera picked up, sending a barb as her filanderous husband. "He will never stray from her, nor she from him, despite your efforts. Now leave, we tire of this."

Demeter's glare turned stony and she stomped out.

Hera sighed, "Until next year then.
