The pale moonlight shone into the bedroom through the open window, followed by the cool ocean breeze. Gordon shifted on the bed and slowly rolled over, trying to suppress the groan that escaped from his lips. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he glanced around the room and rested his eyes on the sleeping blond form that was curled up in his extra large bean bag.

"Penny?" Gordon called quietly.

As if her senses were on high alert, she jumped off of the bean bag and hurried over to the bed. "Gordon darling, are you alright?"

Gordon swallowed, trying to clear his dry throat and smiled gently at her. "Kinda?"

"Do you want your next dose?"

"Please?"

"Of course." She picked up the water bottle that had somehow fallen on the floor while he slept and then passed it to him along with the dosage of tramadol that Virgil has left in her care. Tossing the pills to the back of his throat he sipped from the bottle and then swallowed them. Passing the bottle back to her, he smiled gratefully. "Thank you."

She placed the bottle back on the bedside table and then headed back to the bean bag.

"Babe?"

"Yes?" She replied as she turned around to face him

"Come join me?" he asked. "Please?"

"Sure." She smiled at him gently before climbing onto the bed and under the covers with him. Drawing his arm around her, he drew her in close to him. "You okay?" he asked, sighing as he rested his chin on top of her head

"Mmm, I am now." She affirmed, snuggling in close to him.

He grinned. "That's good. How long were you asleep there for?"

Penelope laid her head on his chest being careful to avoid the purple bruises that littered his torso. "Not long, although your bean bag is really comfortable."

"I think so too." Gordon closed his eyes and breathed in her scent. She smelt like vanilla and cinnamon, courtesy of the Hawaiian body butter he had given her for her birthday. He hadn't been quite certain that she would ever use it as she had once mentioned her hatred for the overpowering smell of cinnamon but apparently she liked it enough to use it.

It was quiet for a while, both of them just being content to listen to each other breathe.

"Hey," He pressed a kiss to her hair, "You know something? I love that smell."

"Hmm."

"I also love swimming." His voice thickening over with tiredness as the tramadol started to kick into his system.

"I know." She smiled gently as she turned to face him.

"I love swimming." he repeated. He was quiet for a little while and Penelope thought he'd drifted off. Then he spoke up again, "I love swimming- and I love you."

Penelope drew in a sharp breath and he tightened his grip on her.

"Swimming and you, Pen. Those are the things I love the most."

She glanced up at him and he grinned at her. "I guess that's the first time, I've said that to you, huh."

She nodded, everything she had wanted to say escaping her mind.

"You know, I realized today as the roof collapsed on me that I hadn't ever told you. If Virgil hadn't managed to find me and if I'd never made it home... I guess you never would have known how I really felt about you, but I do. I really love you Pen."

His eyes searched her face as her eyes filled with tears. "And I really hope you feel the same way about me."

"Oh Gordon."

He looked at her worriedly. "Do you?"

Penelope looked up at him and pressing her lips to his she kissed him softly. He entangled his fingers in her hair as he deepened the kiss. Breaking off, she blushed as he searched her face.

"So?"

"I do.. of course I love you Gordon. Ever since we got trapped in the tomb of Sapa Capanqui."

Gordon chuckled, "That far back? God I was such a jerk."

"Yes you were, but I've long forgiven you."

"Thank you." He said quietly.

"You're welcome." She said as she settled back down.

"Love you Pen." Gordon said as sleep finally took over him and he drifted off.

She listened to his soft breathing and gently kissed his forehead "Love you more, darling."
