Iris couldn't have explained it if she had tried. She knew she was in awe of him — of his impossible, unstoppable, remarkable power — but this felt bigger than just being starstruck. She felt the greatest admiration for his character, as he had no ulterior motives to be found because he didn't want to be a hero, he just wanted to help. She had so much respect for that, but it wasn't what caused this feeling. She was drawn to him, enticed by the mystery that laid beneath the mask, but it was greater than that too.

The truth was that Iris had never met anyone that made her feel so many things at once. She didn't understand him and it bothered her. How did he make her feel both safe and nervous, both excited and frustrated, like both a giddy grade school girl with a crush and a woman overcome with pulsing desire? He was charming and flirtatious but serious, kind and gentle yet direct and assertive, thrilling and surprising but in a way, as familiar to Iris as the back of her hand.

Iris thought back to the first night that they met. Until then, he had always been this speeding, scarlet streak — nameless, faceless, silent — but as he stood in front of her at Jitter's, he was still. That unnerved her. She could see the rising and falling of his chest and it hit her that he was no longer a maybe, no longer some suspected, secret hero swooping in and saving the day; he had a name, a face, and story — one Iris intended to get to the bottom of.

As they spoke on the roof that night, Iris was overwhelmed. He was a metahuman, sure, but she was certain that the feeling of electric energy between them wasn't a side-effect of his power — it was a magnetizing pull that she believed he felt too. And as he sped away that night, she knew...she was inextricably tied to him. It felt hopeless; they were connected, bound together by some cosmic force just as inevitable and inescapable as gravity.

It didn't help matters that there was already a man in Iris's life, a man Iris loved. Eddie was, in so many ways, the kind of person that she always imagined ending up with. He was brave, outspoken, fun, and he had one of the biggest hearts she'd ever encountered. She didn't want to jeopardize that — she knew she was lucky to have him. He was one of the best men she knew. She adored him, but if she was honest with herself, her heart didn't ache for him, not the way it should. They had chemistry, but it wasn't all sparks and fireworks. Regardless, Iris loved Eddie and didn't want to let him go.

But even with all that love, she couldn't help herself. She knew Eddie wouldn't approve and that, in a way, she was betraying him. She knew she shouldn't, but she found herself at the keyboard. Iris left a message on her blog: she wanted to see the Flash.
