The wagon driver snapped his reins harder as he heard shouts and hollers from behind. They'd be upon him any second now. He took a quick glance to his rear, only to see two horses speeding his way, black-cloaked riders on top of them. Those horses, with only a single rider, would be faster than his own which were laden down by the weight of the band wagon. The driver was shaken out of his thoughts by a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see a strange masked man lying prone on the roof of his wagon. With a start, he realized that it was one of them. He jumped up, nearly falling off of the wagon, and ultimately, to his death. But the masked man caught his arm and yanked him back to his seat.

"Would you slow it down, chap?" the masked man shouted over the wind. Knowing he was caught and the man was armed, the driver slowed his cart down. When it finally came to a stop, the man slid down from the roof. He took a seat on the front of the wagon next to the driver.

"W-what are you gonna do to me?" the driver asked, stumbling over his words. The masked man shrugged with a chuckle before cutting the horses free from the wagon. Being well-trained, neither of the horses took off.

"Now, you're gonna take that horse there," the man said, pointing to the sturdiest of the two, "and you're gonna ride it to the nearest town. This should cover a few nights of rest. Then, you can continue with your job." The driver stared at the two dollars and fifty cents the man gave him before deciding it'd be best to follow his orders. After a quick look at the cannon on the man's hip, he decided that it would certainly be worth falling his orders. The driver hopped onto the horse he was told to and snapped the reins, sending the horse careening forward. He was out of sight in seconds.

"Can't believe you let him go, Perce," the second masked man who had been chasing down the peddler said as he rode up. The first one, Percy, turned and looked at his compatriot, pulling off his hat and mask and sporting a mischievous smile. He had a mess of black shaggy hair resting on his head as well as sea-green eyes. He latched his own horse to the wagon, as well as relatching the horse that was left.

"We're outlaws, Jason," he told the second rider. "We may be thieves and killers, but we're not cold-blooded murderers. Now help me get this back to the rest." Percy climbed into the driver's seat and guided the horses to turn around. Once they were facing the correct direction, Percy snapped the reins and drove them forward. Slowly, the wagon tumbled down the road, bouncing over every rock and hole. Jason kept pace beside, leading his horse, Tempest. As they neared the camp, they began to see the aftermath of their shootout with the guards. Five bodies littered the road. Percy looked at one of the nearby outlaws, a short dark-haired and dark-eyed man.

'Who's the buzzard food, Nico?" he asked, motioning to the fallen outlaw. Nico looked up from one of the guards he had been searching, the man's weapon in hand.

"Michael Yew," he answered. Percy nodded, then motioned for the other two outlaws that had joined them on the ambush.

"Pick him up and put him in the back of the wagon," he told them. "He deserves a proper burial back at camp." He turned to look at Jason as they did so. "Well ain't that some shit. Yew was the best medicine man we had. We'll have to find a new doc." The other two outlaws, Frank Zhang and Leo Valdez, loaded Michael's body into the wagon before finishing scavenging the rest of the battlefield. They had earned quite a lot from this, despite losing a member. Frank, hopping on his horse, turned and looked at Percy.

"Why couldn't we just leave him behind?" he asked. Frank was half-Asian and fairly new to this band of outlaws. This hadn't exactly been his first robbery but it was surely the first shootout. Despite all that, he was still able to take down to of the guards himself. Percy shook his head and tutted.

"Frank, Frank," he answered. "Know this and remember it. Halfbloods don't leave halfboods behind."

(A/N)

So I wanted to try this out, yes the rest of the chapters will be longer, this is just a short glimpse into the story. I want to know you're opinions on an outlaw setting., And I would like to hear your thoughts on a pairing. You have the options as follows:

Zoe

Clarisse

Thalia(they are not cousins in this)

Bianca(once again, not cousins)

Anyway, thank you for the read and (hopefully) thank you for the review and your opinion. This story will take the backburner for my other story until that is completed. So the updates may be more sporadic. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed.
