Carmen smiled at her screen. Fuck, even the way he speaks is so charming. And he isn't even trying to hit on me. "On the way, Alfie."
Alfred chuckled. It was the first time in a while that he had someone he felt so comfortable around. Thank god Matty had introduced him to his friends on Minecraft. He had just gotten out of a toxic relationship and was feeling so lost with himself. Carmen was always online, and they would talk on the phone while playing to make things easier.
He was shy at the start, but Carmen was so welcoming and talkative that he naturally wanted to mirror her energy. Things quickly turned into mini interviews, with Carmen wanting to know about his life, work, morals, hobbies. He loved wasting his days away with her.
Carmen on the other hand, felt like Alfred was the best person to mine, hunt and build with. She tried with her boyfriend Arthur, but he'd easily fly into a rage and leave the game if he accidentally lost some diamonds. Her friend Elizabeta was still a newbie like her, so they wouldn't last very long on their own. Gilbert, Elizabeta's boyfriend, was usually busy working on his giant house, always trying to one-up everyone else's.
Alfred was experienced enough to travel safely with, would protect her fiercely, and could take a few losses well enough. He was kind and would share the loot with her, even though she couldn't really pull her own weight. She was grateful to be able to play with him.
"I heard you were coming for Gil's party tomorrow."
"Oh, I was under the impression that I was just dropping Matty off since it's on the way to my place. Am I invited?"
"Of course! We really want to meet you Alfie. Also, we've got booze."
