After a break-up, Hana felt no need to live no more. In one last attempt to turn her life around, she seeks the ghost of the bathroom.

A/N; Hello everyone, I hope youre all ok! It's been a while since I've done any writing so I do apologise in advance if this isn't my best work. Another little side note, to make myself feel more connected with all the characters, I am setting this fic as though they are roughly 17 years old (I'm sorry if that annoys you).

THIS MAY HAVE TRIGGER WARNINGS AS HINTS AT SUICIDE

Breathe

Take a deep breath.

Close your eyes.

Imagine it simply as flying.

The girl's chest rose and sunk slowly with the cool breeze that swept through her small frame, knocking her slightly as she gripped tighter onto the bar. Her lifeline. She felt in sync with her body, in control with the elements, with herself. She was God at this moment in time. She is deciding what is going to happen.

"Don't be a fool," she whimpered quietly to herself, the sweat in her palms almost edging her to finally releasing herself. She imagined how it would feel if she was to let go, never to feel pain again, to love or to cry. She would be free from this world and all that tarnish it. Upon relishing on the relief she would soon experience, she would also think of those she'd miss or ruin. She wouldn't be a person anymore; she would simply be 'the girl who could've gone far'. A mere memory, missed by some and forgotten by more.

She took one more breath, one she hoped would be her last, as she slowly lifted each finger from the pole. She stared down and her eyes met that steep drop which was soon to be her grave, the school yard. She stood atop the old school building of Kamome school, the place that ruined her physically, mentally, and spiritually.

The girl rose her eye, staring into the blinding sky as she let go from the pole, her life slipping from her in a few mere seconds.

Within the moment she let go, she immediately felt regret. What was she doing? She wasn't ready yet to go. Her heart thundered as she let out a silent screen. She shut her eyes, waiting for her impending death, to be a memorial piece, a speech about mental health.

Nothing.

Her heart beat again.

And again.

And once more.

"Are you ok?!" She heard a male voice say as a pain ran through her arm. She glanced up, a hand tightly gripping her wrist with an iron hold. He was panting heavily as his adrenaline left his body and his grip began to loosen. The girl remained silent as the boy quickly pulled her up.

He repeated his question as he watched the girl gradually come to her senses. Her eyes widened as she fell to her knees and vomited. The boy fell to her side and rubbed her back, ensuring her she was going to be ok.

"If it makes you feel a bit better, I'm Kou, so therefore you haven't just vomited in front of a stranger," he laughed awkwardly. The girl wiped her mouth, taking deep breaths as she looked a Kou. He looked rather familiar, as if she knew somebody like him, but she couldn't place a name to a face. She assumed he was younger than her as he had an almost childlike look to him.

"Hana," she murmured. Kou looked at her, surprised to see she actually spoke. Her voice was soft and almost monotone, and her expression was empty. "Hana Tanaka," she added. She felt ashamed to be in this situation, to be rescued by someone who should be looking up to her as their senior. She was meant to be an example, but instead Kou was.

Kou let out a toothy grin, placing his hand on Hana's and tightly holding it. "You're going to be okay, Hana," he said gently, staring directly into her eyes, warming her and making her feel safe. He definitely must be popular, she had thought and he seemed to look rather cool as she noticed his earring. She imagined he would seem like a delinquent from his appearance, or at least be popular with women as she was somewhat attractive.

She thanked him multiple times and reassured him she was going to be ok. "It was a stupid reason, really," she scoffed, hugging her knees and staring at him as he leant against the wall to the exit. She seemed it would be a good idea to get it off her chest. She held onto things and then kept them to herself for her to dwell over. She would stay up for hours due to her overthinking, blaming herself over the simplest things. "My boyfriend cheated on me, and I walked in on him," she gripped tightly onto her skirt as she bit into her cheek. She told herself she wasn't going to cry. "He blamed it on me, saying it was because I was boring and creepy," Hana added, watching as Kou's face softened. She rested her chin on her knees and looked up at the sky for a short moment, silently enjoying the soft sounds of her surroundings.

"I don't think you're any of those things, Hana," Kou noted, admiring her features. She was very cute and petite, he thought to himself. She seemed like she had a guard up, her stance was tense and she seemed like she was struggling to maintain such an appearance. Her eyes was a deep blue, almost royal and luscious like the deepest of seas. Her hair was wavy and black, framing her small pale face, making her appear even smaller than she already was.

She stood up, and turned from him. "You don't know me very well, Kou," she said, her voice emotionless and calm. "You see," she turned and look at him, her expression sad as if preparing for the worst. "I can see ghosts."

It had been a week since then, and she hadn't seen or heard from Kou despite having exchanged numbers. She assumed he was creeped out by her, saw her as a freak and wanted nothing to do with her. Maybe he wished he hadn't caught her, allowed the weird kid to roam free and cause nothing but havoc.

Did he think she was a monster? He didn't seem to be acting like he did, but maybe he was just so afraid he was acting nice so she didn't attack him, she didn't know.

She had always been able to see ghosts, but they never really bothered her. It was always the type of situation where she would stare at them or try to talk to them but everyone thought she was strange. She had to move schools a lot when she was younger as people thought she was going to curse them. Children truly are wicked beings.

She had decided she was going to turn her life around. She had enough time to reflect on last weeks events, the regret she felt when she jumped. She didn't want to feel that ever again. She had looked online on how to redeem yourself but it was simple advice such as 'change your hair style' or 'write a list of things you enjoy'. Trivial.

She wanted to see results now, and she had heard of one the school wonders. Hanako of the bathroom. She was going to see if she could have Hanako grant her wish and give her a reason to live her life. She didn't care the price, even if it meant she had to sell her soul, she wanted to live a life she deserves.

Hana had decided she would go before school, since she was somewhat of an early bird. She showered and got ready for school, and she even wore a bit of make-up. She assumed it would be polite if she looked somewhat presentable for the ghost she was going to make a deal with. What if Hanako thought she was ugly and was repulsed, thus rejecting her request and shunning her. Maybe she could convince Hanako with a girl-to-girl talk, maybe if she cried or maybe if she looked helpless. She would do anything to live.

The girl found herself in the old school building, flashes of the week before her haunting her mind. She shook her head, reminding herself that was not the path she was going to take today. She was here to live. She was here to move forward.

Her small body pushed forward, walking into the girls bathroom, heading towards the end stall and taking a deep breath.

"Hanako, Hanako, are you there?"

"I'm here."
