Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN THE FLASH OR ARROW. IF I DID THEN BARRY ALLEN WOULD FINALLY BE EXTREMELY HAPPY AND OLIVER WOULD BE ALIVE STILL.
Summary: Is set in 5x19. After Barry gets frozen by Icicle and when Sherloque comes and saves him. They realise that they need Sherloque and he decides to stay.
A/N: I got bored one day and wrote this. I didn't have any inspiration one day and decided to write this after watching a scene from The Flash, 5x19, so enjoy this.
Barry laid motionless on the floor. He was paling by the second and Joe couldn't take his eyes off of his son. His son who was dying quickly on the floor in front of him.
Speed and cold were polar opposites, so when he felt his son's extremely weak pulse, he knew he was losing him. No-one was at STAR Labs. No-one knew that this was happening other then him. Barry was going to die right in front of him..
Joe prayed. He prayed for a miracle to happen. He couldn't lose Barry. He was needed everywhere— not just as the Flash though.. as a son, husband, CSI. He was needed by people everyday, and they couldn't live without him.
Barry's face was varying between shades of blue and white. It was disturbing for Joe to stare at his face but he did. He was desperately staring at his son's lifeless face, hoping—praying—that a single, lone, breath would escape his pale lips. To at least signal that there was life inside the coffin. He wasn't entirely frozen, just enough. But no. No movement came from the limp speedster.
"Barry.." Joe pleaded, his fingers becoming freezing as Barry's skin began to frost over, cold attacking Joe's hand.
"Barry, c'mon!" Joe begged, his hand still hadn't moved from the side of his son's neck. His pulse was slowing, and Joe didn't know how much longer Barry could hold on.
"Bear!" Joe pleaded but his voice was silent compared to the noise behind him. But that didn't faze him, what did was what it was. A breach. Someone had come to save Barry.
Joe turned his head slightly, surprised to see Sherloque exit the breach, the extrapolator in one hand. He couldn't react though, Barry was still dying in front of him, and he was fading fast.
"I can barely feel his pulse" Joe said, eyes focusing back onto his son.
"His heart rate is dropping" Sherloque added, rummaging through a bag full of wires and clips.
"We only have seconds to save him" Sherloque concluded, running towards the electrical box.
He tried opening the door but it didn't budge. That was the only thing that would save Barry, they needed to get it open— now.
"What are you doing?" Joe asked, stepping away from Barry's body.
He watched as Sherloque tried and failed to use a crowbar against the door.
"This machine has a large power source" Sherloque started," I need to access to save Mr. Allen"
"Watch out" Joe said.
He stepped forward and placed his hands onto the metal door, which was just as cold as Barry, and he pulled the door right off of the hinges, revealing the power source Sherloque needed.
"That will work" Sherloque said, quickly chucking the crowbar into the counter top and crouching down next to the machine.
"Stand back" he instructed as he ripped the wires out, which were next to the 'Electrical Hazard' sign.
"This current, should heat up the copper wiring of his suit circuitry and we just need to heat it up enough until his speed-healing kicks in" it seemed simple enough. But they were using a very high voltage to warm up a polyester suit. Surely something would start to catch on fire right?
Sherloque held the two wires against the emblem on Barry's chest, he was hoping that they had gotten it open in time. He was fond of Barry, they had become quite close, minus all of the times he had frequently pissed Barry and well the rest of the team off.
"Is it safe?" Joe asked quietly, scared of the answer.
"Safer then dying" Sherloque responded truthfully.
The ice that had been on his suit was slowly melting away, leaving no trace that Barry had been up against an evil male version of Killer Frost.
"Come on, Mr. Allen" Sherloque said as the remaining bits of ice melted away.
"Barry!" Joe yelled over his shoulder.
"Come on.." Sherloque whispered, he was starting to lose faith in bringing him back.
"Bear!" Joe yelled again, he was close to crying at this point. The tears had already been built up in his eyes.
What felt like the longest 2 seconds of their life ended when Barry finally gasped for air. His chest was heaving as he sat up, his eyes staring straight ahead as he started to shiver and shake.
"Icicle" He gasped as he launched himself upright.
The moment he stood up, something went wrong and his body was pitching towards the nearest countertop. Thankfully, Joe and Sherloque had caught him in time.
"First, you rest" Sherloque insisted, his hand resting on Barry's now slightly warm shoulder," then we bring them home"
"Together" Sherloque added.
Joe watched how Barry had began to sag against the counter, whether it was from exhaustion or not, his boy was weak, and prone to collapsing at any moment.
He turned to Sherloque," prepare the Med-Bay. And call Oliver"
Nodding, Sherloque reluctantly left the duo and opened a breach, taking himself back to STAR Labs to prepare the Med-Bay. When Sherloque had vanished through the breach, Barry had completely sagged against Joe, his head hung in the crook of his dad's neck.
"Stay with me, Bear" Joe whispered, taking the majority of Barry's weight.
Barry felt numb. His whole body was reacting to something but he didn't know what, he could barely hear Joe and Sherloque, he hadn't even noticed his body had tipped to get support off of Joe. His eyes were drifting shut though, welcoming him to the abyss. He wanted to go, he so desperately wanted to go in there but something was pulling him back, and he didn't enjoy it. He had small, sharp points of awareness as his mind travelled in and out of consciousness. He knew Joe was shaking his shoulder, trying to keep him awake but every now and again, his eyes would close, welcoming him to the makeshift darkness.
"Bear?" Joe questioned, feeling Barry's irregular breathing pattern begin to even out. He needed Barry to remain awake and responsive, it would make him less afraid of losing him.
"'M awake" Barry mumbled, his eyelids dropping. He was overly exhausted. Why couldn't Joe just let him close his eyes and drift away and let him sleep and it sounded so good to just drop off and—
"Barry" Joe said sternly, he wanted Oliver to hurry up, Sherloque had texted him saying Oliver was on his way to STAR and then he was going to breach over but Barry needed his help now.
"'M cold" Barry slurred, he was seriously dancing between the weight of being conscious and the abyss of drifting away.
"Can you start vibrating for me? We need you to stay awake" Joe instructed gently, he has seen Barry like this before, wanting the numbing pain to fade, that's why he wanted to drop off the edge, but Joe couldn't let him, even if it meant ending Barry's temporary suffering.
He could feel Barry start to lightly vibrate but the more he did, the more energy he expended. His boy was becoming increasingly tired, and he didn't know how much longer Barry would stay with him.
The sound of the breach became Joe's new favourite sound. It meant help. Help for his tried son. Oliver stepped out moments later, multiple blankets in hand. He noticed Joe and Barry's situation and ran over, instantly wrapping the blankets around the freezing man.
"Hey, Barry? What happened?" Oliver tried, watching in fear as Barry's eyes opened and rolled into his head, then reopened again before closing once again. His head was lying limply in the crook of Joe's neck.
Oliver and Joe shared a concerned look before cautiously moving Barry towards the breach, they were both supporting one arm and Barry had his head lying against his chest, mouth slack, eyes closed.
They got Barry through the breach and that's when his knees buckled, sending both men to the ground along with him. They hadn't expected him to weigh that much, but he was extremely tall.
"Sherloque?" Oliver called, he wasn't too certain both Joe and himself could carry an unconscious Barry into the Med-Bay and lay him on one of the beds.
He came running out moments later, gasping as he saw the state of Barry. He didn't care how funny it looked that Barry laid limp on the floor with both Joe and Oliver lying next to him, unable to get back up. All together, the trio hauled the speedster into the Med-Bay and atop the closest cot. Sherloque strapped him up to the EKG whilst Oliver set him up with an IV and started to strip him of the top half of his suit.
Joe stood at the end of the cot, staring at the frostbite all over Barry's left shoulder, it trailed all the way down to his heart. He really needed Caitlin's help but she and her mother had been kidnapped by Icicle. Wait.. Caitlin and her mom. How did he forget about them?
Joe pulled out his cellphone and dialed Captain Singh, he needed to know the new issues with the break-in at Tannhauer Industries.
He stepped out of the Med-Bay and into the hall, hoping that Barry would be okay.
Oliver watched as Sherloque fitted an oxygen mask over Barry's face. It was scary to think how Central City almost lost their vigilante like that. Whilst Barry was still ice cold to the touch, he looked tremendously better then previously.
"How long do you estimate until he wakes up?" Oliver asked, his eyes not drifting from the oxygen mask that was becoming more fogged over by the second.
"I'm not sure. He might not wake up until tomorrow morning" Sherloque said, staring at the now peaceful speedster.
"Okay.." Oliver sighed. He might not be here to see him wake up. He had to go back to Star City the next day.
"Joe said that no-one was in STAR Labs when Barry was hit" Oliver started," so how did you know he was in trouble?"
"I was in the Cortex" Sherloque said simply. He was thinking of leaving the team, or was clear no-one was going to stop him.
"You were just randomly in the Cortex at 4pm?" Oliver questioned, facing Sherloque.
"Oui" Sherloque replied, breaking eye contact with Oliver.
"You were thinking about quitting Team Flash, weren't you?" Oliver asked again, this time his eyes still on Barry.
Sherloque sighed, was he being that obvious about it?
"How did you know?"
"I can read people like that" Oliver stated simply, looking at Harry Wells' counterpart.
"What are you doing in Central City?" Sherloque asked, he hadn't heard about why Oliver was in Central City.
"Business" it wasn't wrong. He had a lot of meetings to attend before he was called out to Barry's need.
"What's the main answer?" Sherloque pushed. He was good, Oliver thought.
"Iris called" Oliver started," she said that she was doing some things and that I should keep an eye on Barry for her"
Why would Iris reach out to Oliver? He knew that the married couple had been fighting a lot and that Iris was really pissed off with Barry but he never thought that Iris still loved him after it all, only because she didn't care that her daughter was being manipulated by the man who killed Barry's mother.
Sherloque was about to respond when a certain cop walked in, looking exhausted as he took a seat next to Barry's bed. It had been a long day for the entire team, they hadn't expected for Iris and Barry's marriage to get complicated like that, they hadn't expected Nora's secret to be revealed like that and they surely didn't expect for Barry to almost die and for Caitlin and her mother to be kidnapped by Caitlin's father of all people.
"He might not wake up until tomorrow morning" Oliver told Joe, who looked too tired to even care.
"I called him in sick to Captain Singh and Singh is going to let him have tomorrow off anyway" Joe said quietly, placing a hand atop Barry's cold one.
"Thank you, for being here Oliver" Joe started, looking at both Oliver and Sherloque," and thank you Sherloque. For saving my son's life. I don't know what we'd do without you"
And that's all it took for Sherloque to change his mind. He was staying with Team Flash, and he was going to enjoy watching Grace get her ass handed to her by the entirety of Team Flash.
