When the news of a brand new selection crossed my ears, I was stunned. Mostly because I never thought I would get my own. You see, I already thought I had the perfect life. I was Prince, for heavens sake! Prince Elias.

I had all the girls that I wanted, yet I loved my dear Adalyn. Loved, past tense. You see, right after the selection was addressed as an idea, Adalyn revealed her love for someone else… My younger sister.

Princess Emile. I was sad, to say the least, but happy, that my sister finally found love herself.

Now, I sit at my desk, writing my speech for the Report tonight. Emile comes in, wearing her favorite dress. She was never one for frills and accessories, but she was in love with this particular dress.

"Dad called you! Its almost Report time, hurry up slow poke." She said and vanished without a word.

I sighed, and walked down the halls, prepping my speech in my head. I was never good at public speaking, yet I had to learn how to do it properly. That meant re-reading my speech at least 50 times before any announcement.

I sat nervously as Jackil gave the usual talk before I was supposed to go. I was sweating, and also hoping the camera didn't pick it up.

I almost forgot the signal Jackil gave me to talk, but my mouth opened. "Good evening. As you know, my girlfriend, Adalyn, recently decided to leave me. I am not offended by her actions and hope she has a great life. I put a lot of thought into what I should do next as the future King. Therefore; I have decided to have a selection."

I paused for dramatic effect. "35 ladies from each providence will go head to head for the title of Princess, and future Queen. Letters to each lady 18-21 in each providence are being sent out as we speak, and you will have 2 weeks to decide if you want to compete for my hand. I wish you all the best of luck."

And with that, my fate was sealed.
