Alone in a giant library, a young man was sitting at a table, among a stack of books, rising on each side of his person. The books themselves were old and weathered, their covers worn out, the names barely readable, looking as if they could fall apart at any moment, unless you handled them with the utmost care.
That was exactly what the young man was doing.
In the throes of finishing one of the old books, the young man delicately turned to the next page of it, very careful not to damage it in the slightest.
This young man who is taking such good care of the old books is named Anthony Kusha. He is an 18 year old young man of Italian/Japanese descent. The evidence is his curly blonde hair, dark brown eyes, adorned with square shaped glasses, and lightly tanned skin.
Anthony finished reading the last page of the book, closing it softly, a smile on his face.
As Anthony closes the book, the cover becomes visible, it's name referencing the entirety of Greek mythology. That is not surprising in the least, considering Anthony is not a normal child at all.
Ever since he had been little, Anthnoy had always found himself to be a bit out of the norm. While the other kids played outside, he stayed in, reading up about mythological creatures. When other kids struggled with tests at school, Anthony breezed through them, on account of his discovered eidetic memory. Anthony even did fairly well in sports, having a lithe, but well muscled body, that fit nicely with his 5'11 height.
And because of all these things, Anthony knew, he was never a normal child. Not like all the others who tried not to avoid him, but failed miserably.
Anthony didn't blame any of them of course, he understood completely. If he was on the other end of the spectrum, he might have done the exact same thing. Still, Anthony was always a little down, considering he only had a few friends.
Feeling melancholy beginning to encroach, Anthony shook his head a bit, to get rid of it. He had nothing to be upset about. His parents loved him, he was living a good life, and he was about to begin his journey towards his goal in life.
You see, Anthony's grandfather on his mother's side (she's the Italian one) passed away the previous year. Anthony loved his grandfather dearly, they even shared a love of history. That's why whenever Anthony was younger, he would spend his summers traveling around the world to historical sites with his grandfather, for he was a historian. The exact same thing Anthony wanted to be.
That's why Anthony was in the library on this hot summer day. While other kids were out enjoying themselves, he was familiarizing himself with all the material he felt would be necessary for his trip, For Anthony had decided to go to college overseas, earn his degree, and continue doing the work he and his grandfather loved so much.
Finished with the Greek mythology, Anthony placed the book atop the finished pile on his left, then reached over to the pile on his right, getting ready to start another book on his self-imposed mythology refresher course.
"Next up, the Norse," Anthony murmured to himself. He took the top book down from the pile on the right and opened the cover, the binding making a small creaking sound as he did.
That's when Anthony saw something inside the book that shouldn't be there.
Pushing up his glasses on his nose, Anthony wondered if he might be hallucinating. But after a few minutes passed, he realized, what he was seeing was real.
Inside the cover of the Norse mythology book was an all white envelope, Anthony's name plastered on it in big black letters.
"Interesting, very interesting." Anthony muttered to himself, a curious glint coming into his eyes.
Anthony placed the book on the table, reached in, and opened the envelope.
"Thank you everyone, that will be all for today." A commanding female voice said, power and confidence oozing out of it. However, it was not of a condescending nature at all, rather it was more along the lines of a respectful and honorable tone.
"Yes ms. President." A chorus of male and female intermixed voices spoke, showing respect and admiration for the person who just addressed them.
Said person is named Reina Satzuki. She is a 17 year old young Japanese girl, who has dark brown hair in a single ponytail down to the nape of her neck, dark brown eyes, and a shapely body with large breasts for her age.
At the moment, Reina is ending a student council meeting. For at her highschool, she is the third-year student council president, who is not only beautiful and smart, given her position, but also skilled in athletics.
Reina also comes from a well-off family, said to be descendants of Japan's legendary Minamoto clan, on her father's side.
Most would call Reina the epitome of a Yamato Nadeshiko (i.e.= a perfect Japanese woman personification) however that is far from the truth.
Once all the other students council members had exited the room, Reina dropped her smile and popped back into her chair, her body in a lazy pose. If anyone saw this, the image that Reina had would be shattered. Not that Reina cared either way.
In truth, Reina really didn't care for all the attention people gave her. She was just doing what she felt was natural to her, yet somehow that made people admire and respect her without even getting to know her. Reina was tired of it, really. However, she decided to leave it alone. It's not like she could make people change their minds about her, what they thought was their own business, no matter how much it irked her nerves.
So Reina decided to just ignore it, and move on with her life. She was close to graduating anyway, so soon she would be off to college, not having people watch her every move like she was some great god or buddha.
Reina sat up in her chair, getting ready to pack up her stuff to head home for the day. That's when she noticed it.
"To Reina Satzuki." An envelope of all white, addressed directly to her, atop the work papers done by the student council at today's meeting.
Reina picked up the envelope and examined it. At first, she assumed it was a love letter like the many she had rejected before (Reina's popular with both boys and girls). But upon closer inspection. Reina decided to dismiss that scenario. No love letter she had received to date was so… formal in her own opinion. She just couldn't see a love-struck classmate giving her something like the envelope she held in her hand.
Still, that left a big question at the forefront of Reina's mind.
'Who exactly sent this to me?' Reina thought.
She didn't have any way to check but one. Reina opened the envelope up to see what was inside.
A young girl, eighteen years old, was laying in her room, playing with her phone, a bored expression plastered all over her face.
The name of this young girl is Natsume Sonobe, a gyaru (beauty girl) all the guys at her school want to date. And she is beautiful, no one can deny that.
Natsume possess flowing light blonde silky hair that goes to the small of her back, a voluptuous figure, with D cup breasts, and finally the icing on the cake, Natsume has heterochromia (different colored eyes), while one eye is sky blue, the other is jade green. Combining all this, and her naturally white porcelain skin and makeup, it's no wonder the boys are all over Natsume. The only problem is, Natsume does not play for that team. She firmly swings the other way.
If any of the boys at her school knew the truth, they would cry tears of blood.
But moving on, as to why Natsume is sulking in her room alone, dressed in sweats.
She's just extremely bored.
Despite being a gyaru, Natsume's grades are top notch, meaning she has nothing to worry about for midterms in the coming week. Her friends however… not so lucky.
That's the reason Natsume is at home alone on a Saturday, all her friends are studying like crazy for their tests, so none of them flunk out. Natsume understands that fact perfectly, but it's just….
"Gah!" Natsume placed her phone on her bed, then turned over to plant her face in her pillow. "I'm so bored!" Natsume screamed into her pillow, flailing her legs about, like that of a young child.
When she was finished, Natsume sat up on the side of her bed, and released a deep sigh. "Really, when is exciting going to happen?"
Right after saying that, Natsume heard a sound coming into her room, from her front door. She and her parents lived in an apartment, but both of them were at work, and hand keys. Leaving Natsume to wonder who it was that had just made the sound she heard.
Natsume took her phone back into her hands, then stuck her head out of her room, just to survey the current situation.
All she saw was that male had been delivered. A single white envelope to be exact.
Natsume found that strange, considering it was a Saturday, and mail didn't run on Saturdays. Finding it strange, Natsume exited her room, heading straight over to the letter, and picking it up.
Almost immediately dropping it a moment later.
She didn't however, considering that her shock was paralyzing her.
"To Natsume Sonobe."
Those words, imprinted on the all white envelope froze Natsume in place.
She knew she hadn't ordered any mail offline recently, or done anything to warrant such an envelope. So Natsume had one question burning in her mind.
'Who sent this to me?' She thought.
To find that out, Natsume ignored every fiber of her being telling her not too.
She opened the envelope.
"Had enough yet?" A male voice spoke coldy.
"Yes, we give! Just no more!" A frightened male voice responded.
On a grassy field near a river, one young man was standing in an area filled with other young men, all of them down on the ground, bruises covering their bodies. While the young man in the center, showed no signs of injury at all.
The young man in the center is known as Ren Takamura. He is 18 years old, with short dark purple hair and eyes. He also has a well muscled body, and an IQ rated at 150.
You see, to most people Ren is an enigma. Despite scoring in the top five of his class every year since grade school, Ren constantly gets into fights. Some aren't sure whether to call him a delinquent, a genius, or both. Of all of them however, Ren prefers both.
He knows what people think of him, but he doesn't care. Ren's motto is: "Live life your way, no matter what." Going by that motto of his, Ren feels all the time that his life is pretty good. However, he would say that he is missing one thing.
A challenge.
Ren is hungry for a real challenge. Yet no matter how hard he looks, he can't seem to find one. It really irks him. But no matter what, he can do nothing about it.
Realizing he is getting upset, Ren takes a deep breath to calm himself down. After which he feels much better. It also allows him to notice that the delinquents he beat up for bullying grade school kids have all run away like the little bitches they were.
Crossing his arms, Ren puts a satisfied look on his face. "Heh, serves them right, Bunch of losers, picking on kids."
Ren seeing that his work is done, walks over to his school bag, ready to retrieve it and head home. But when he does, Ren notices a pure white envelope with his name plastered on it, sitting on his bag.
Narrowing his eyes, Ren quickly scans the immediate area for anyone, but finds no one. Still, that doesn't put Ren at ease at all.
He kept track of his surroundings at all times, yet while he was beating up the bullies, he never noticed anyone else approach them the entire time. Meaning someone had somehow snuck past his senses, while he was in the middle of his massacre, all to place an envelope for him to find.
Ren could only smirk at the prospect. "Instesting." He said. Without wasting another second, Ren bent down and went to open the letter.
Boys and girls with wondrous talent and much distress, I address thee!
If you strive to test your Gifts, then cast aside your friends, family, possessions, and even your world, and come to Little Garden!
Anthony, Reina, Natusme, and Ren, all opened and read their letters, inviting them to the place known as Little Garden simultaneously.
Having no idea, what a wondrous adventure that had just begun. Or how it would change their lives forever.
A/N
Hey everyone it's me again coming at you with a story, that I really started to get into after rewatching an anime series.
It's known as Mondaiji Tachi, and honestly, when I went to read fanfictions about it, I was a bit surprised.
Not only does the light novel series have twelve complete volumes, but there's even a sequel series out, and it's some great source material. The world is vast, and the rules simple, so I'm surprised no one's really done an in depth fanfiction on it.
However, with my new project, that's all about to change.
Characters Ages:
Anthony Kusha: 18 years old.
Reina Satzuki: 17 years old.
Natsume Sonobe: 18 years old.
Ren Takamura: 17 years old.
As always, please review and comment.
