She finds herself surrounded by darkness. Whispers echoing around her and red eyes glaring angrily. "Monster..."
"Why is she here?"
"She's nothing special."
"Get that freak out of here!"
Silver clutched her head. "Stop it! Please…" She looks up and sees a large shadow towering over her. A horrible stench of death clung to her nose, making her eyes water. It gave a ghastly smile that made her heart stop in place. Blood-stained teeth gnashing with delight. Talons reached for her. Silver screamed and ran. To where, she didn't know but staying here would only mean death for her. The darkness only laughed at her. Her voice became raw and she found herself crying out only one thing. "Draco!"
Silver woke with a start. Her brown eyes streaked with tears. "Crap! Not again!" She began wiping away at her face. She looked down at her hands and arms. They still held the same marks that she dealt herself before Mr. Adelwiess came into her life. She can't remember much of why she did that, but she can remember the pain that she had dealt with. The torment, the foster parents, the physical and emotional used to have friends but their names had been blocked out of her mind. Silver looked around her apartment.
The yellow wallpaper peeling off. Chipped dishes ruled the sink. Only one bookshelf was the only thing that brought life to her empty world. A gray marble shrine sat there along with a silver jewelry box which Silver always called the memory box. Her body trembled at seeing it. "Morning Mr. Aldwiess. I had that nightmare again. Just as horrible as before."
She went to the bathroom to wash up. In the reflection of her mirror, she adjusted her auburn hair and the bandages wrapped on her abdomen. She didn't understand why her parents called her Silver even though she had no such color on her. It didn't help that she was born quirkless. Whenever she went out, she finds herself in a world of grey of Tsuba City*. People stiffen at the sight of her as if she was an unstable villain that might kill them at any moment. She distanced men because a wave of panic causes her to turn violent. "Well," Silver spoke. She looked down at the necklace which had an aquamarine heart-shaped pendant that also had a shooting star made of jasper connected to it."Time to go to the battlefield."
**********************The Mole Gazette-8:15 A.M.*****************************
After an hour long bus ride, Silver arrived to the front of a medium sized office building that had a large balloon mole sitting on the roof. She walked up the stairs to arrive at her small office. It barely had anything but a small desk and a computer that was far older than her. She turned it on, listening to the sound of birds outside her window. Silver adjusted her bracelet that had the words "protection" written on the piece of paper. It was the only thing Mr. Aldwiess gave to her before he passed away. Right now it was the only thing to keep her from cutting herself and give her the courage to visit the outside world.
"Well, well, well!" A sickly sweet voice spoke.
now...Silver groaned inward. She turned her swivel chair to face a woman in her late 20s and frizzy black hair. She was wearing a teal shirt with a v-neck and buttons at the sleeves. Her green eyes were filled with malice as if she wanted to mess with Silver throughout the day. Plumb lips upward in an ambitious smile and a hand on her wide hips. "Look what the ugly cat dragged in. Hoping to catch anyone in those rags?"
Silver just huffed in annoyance. Silver happened to be wearing a simple blue t-shirt with a paw print and jeans. "No, Jade. Unlike you, I don't go around like some floozy and spend the night with other men only to get dumped the next day." She smirked when Jade turned bright red. Even though Jade was a journalist, she had a bad habit of dating men constantly in hopes of getting married. When will that idiot realize that you can win anyone that way? Silver thought. "Anyway, did you at least get your interview with Endeavor done and over with? I want to go over the images before they are put in the papers."
"Stop talking to me like you're my mom, orphan. At least I write the important stuff." Jade grumbled. "You can only take pictures and write the boring stuff like cats."
"Cats have more class than you do. At least they land on their feet and have better common sense than your brain can handle."
Jade balled up her fists. If there's one thing she hated, it was someone making fun of her intelligence. She opened her mouth to speak. Suddenly, a dog-shaped head popped up. It was Ko, the secretary. "Sorry to interrupt you ladies, but our boss wants to have a meeting about the next article coming up."
Silver looked toward Ko. "Is it about the anniversary edition in regards to the war between the heroes and the Liberation Paranormal Front?" She recalled that event clear as day. It had been two years since the heroes from all across Japan battled with the LPF in order to prevent them from destroying society and wreaking havoc on the world. Supposedly, Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of these villains, vanished without a trace after his battle with Deku. No one heard from him since. His cohorts were all put in prisons. The most dangerous villains were placed in Tartarus. Things had been at peace for some time.
Ko nodded. "It's a total madhouse now! Rumor has it that the boss would give us 2 million yen if we get to do this article. But only one of us gets to do it."
Jade and Silver simply stared in shock. "What?!"
