The Beginning

Egypt-A long time ago

Tears came down Mana's cheeks at the once beautiful city. It was going to be the greatest empire of the world but in seconds it was destroyed. The strong walls that protected her city were knocked to the ground like it was nothing. The dust around her made it hard to see what was happening at the moment. Quickly she shields her eyes to protect them from the whirling dust and sand. She saw the battle in front of her. The evil creature that destroyed her home called Zorc was now grinning at the sight of the only person on the battlefield. It was her childhood friend, who happened to be the pharaoh of Egypt.

She knew she had to do something, but what. Her Ka the Dark Magician Girl was battling Zorc comrades with the spirit of her master, who was now the Dark Magician.

However, all of her thoughts changed when she saw her friend fall to his knees, as he coughed out blood.

Mana rushed to his side, as she tried to heal his wounds; her powers were quickly running low. The most she can do is heal some of the major injuries and hope for the better.

Zorc laughed at the two as if this was child's play for him and Mana couldn't help but tremble in fear.

"A child can easily see you're weak, Pharaoh. Give up!"

The Pharaoh looked like he was about to cough out more blood, but in a split second, he bit his lip and glared at Zorc with a fierce power Mana has ever seen.

"You can't keep on like this?!" Mana yelled, but her friend smiled sadly.

"I know," he said, as he slowly tried to stand up. "But it's almost ready."

Mana didn't know what he meant until she and the pharaoh were surrounded with pure light. The light quickly spun around and around until finally, it looks like a sand twister with him and Mana right in the centre.

Zorc tried to break it with his dark ray, but the light didn't back down. It was like a shield protecting them and Mana thought it was beautiful.

The Pharaoh began to take off his Millennium Puzzle and he threw it into the air. Soon Mana could see that it was not only the puzzle in the air but all the other items as well. The other items floated in mid-air and began to spin around the puzzle and that's when it hit her on what the Pharaoh was planning on doing.

She had heard legends of this spell being passed down from Pharaoh to Pharaoh and now she knows that this legend is as real as Zorc's evil grin.

"No!" She cried as she looked at her childhood friend. "You can't...I won't-"

"Mana."

Mana shook her head, as she gripped her wand. She knew there was no other way, but this wasn't the answer.

"If you do this then your soul-"

"You know I don't have any other choice. Slifer, Obelisk and Ra are defeated, every warrior that fought Zorc is either dead or they ran away. If there is the time to use this spell, it's now."

Mana looked at him in shock, while he looked in sadness at the sky. Mana could tell he was fighting the tears in his eyes as well.

She felt so weak and defenceless at this moment that it made her feel sick. She wanted to help her friend, she wanted to tell him that there was another way, but she couldn't. She knew that this was the only spell to stop Zorc.

"I don't want to lose you too." Mana sobbed as she remembers her master when she said those words.

"I know, but you won't lose me."

Mana looked up in confusion. What did he mean by that? With the way things are going it is either leave and fight for another day or fight until the last breath and Mana had a bad feeling, it would not be Zorc to draw his last breath.

"This spell may take mine and Zorc's souls but one day I'll come back when the chosen one will put the Millennium Puzzle back together, however, there is a catch. I won't remember my past, my family, my loyal Guardians and also," He turned to face Mana and gave her a sad smile. "I won't be able to remember you and Mahad or even my name."

Mana couldn't believe what she was hearing. She knew there was no other way, but for her friend to sacrifice this much it was just not fair at all.

"I want to come with you!"

The Pharaoh looked at his friend in shock. She wanted to come just for him, but she can't unless...

"Mahad!"

In a flash, Mahad appeared in front of Mana and the Pharaoh. His Dark Magician appearance once filled Mana will hope and pride, but now seeing it all battered from the battle, all Mana felt was dread. Seeing not one but two of her friends hurt was like seeing her strongest magic shield of love and hope being crush and destroyed.

"Pharaoh, what are you thinking?!" Mahad yelled, knowing too well what this spell was. "You don't have to use this spell, there must be another way. I'll-"

"There is no other way Mahad and you know it. However, there might be a way for you and Mana to help me."

Mana looked at Mahad for answers, but to her surprise, her master looked just as confused as she was.

"This power of the Millennium items has just enough power to send you both to the future. However, in turn for this, you both will forget my name as just knowing it is dangerous to you both."

Mahad looked horror filed with this piece of information. What his Pharaoh and childhood friend was about to perform involves dark and ancient magic beyond even his experience, but when Mahad saw the small smirk on the Pharaoh, he knew that the Pharaoh father must have taught him that spell.

"Hopefully it will take you near the timeline on when my spirit is set free by the chosen one. Remember he will be in danger not because of the puzzle or me, but the person who unlocks the puzzle will have powers beyond imagining. He or she will be able to control the monster's spirits and the shadows."

It was then the Pharaoh let out a sad smile as if he knew death was coming to take him soon. It was then he realized it was not as scary as he thought, but instead, he felt a wave of sadness come over him. Was this his time to go? Will he meet his father and mother in the afterlife? Oh, he would love to see them again and forget all his troubles of acting like a strong and powerful pharaoh, when all he wanted was to go back to the times he was a prince.

"It won't just be Zorc going after the puzzle and the chosen one. Others will try too and they will be just as dangerous. So please find my puzzle, find my soul and also protect the person who will no doubt be a better Pharaoh than any before."

Just then the Pharaoh began to cough violently with blood slowly trailing down his mouth. He knew he was near the end of his limit and he needs to act.

Gathering the little strength he could find, he slowly raised his hand and a faint glowing eye similar to the puzzle begins to light upon his forehead.

"I will not leave your side Pharaoh!" Mahad yelled while Mana was consumed by her sorrow. "You can't leave us like this!"

The Pharaoh could not help but feel a warmth in his heart and he would not admit to it but forgetting his two loyal friends will be the hardest and most painful task he has ever done. He would rather go to the shadow realm if it meant he would a least remember Mana and Mahad. However, his stubborn nature and the fact his friends would never forgive him brought the Pharaoh back on course with his plan.

"Don't be sad Mahad, Mana."

With that, the Pharaoh turned to his two friends and wave his arm which slowly made the two lift in the air and heading towards what looks like a giant eye in the sky.

"No!"

Zorc might not have been able to get past the barrier, but he could still try and capture the Pharaoh's friends.

"Not a chance Zorc!"

With that, a beam of light came out of each item striking both the Pharaoh and Zorc.

"No!" Mana and Mahad yelled, but all they could see before darkness finally took them was the Pharaoh faint smile and his last words to them, "We will see each other again soon."

When his friends fell into the void to the future, the weaken Pharaoh slowly looked up at the Millennium ring and puzzle; he knew what he had to do. He began to chant his final phase of the spell as he could feel his soul drifting away from him along with Zorc's scream.

Slowly Zorc's scream began to fade, the temperature grew colder and his body felt like it was weightless. It seemed like he was just fading into a dream, as the Pharaoh opens his eyes. He realized he was not on the battlefield anymore but in the dark realm, to his relief no sign of Zorc. However, he was amazed to see the three Egyptian Gods staring down at him.

"Ra, Slifer, Obelisk." The Pharaoh said in surprise. All three Gods bowed to him in respect as the Pharaoh could detect the sorrow and guilt in their body movement and their facial expression. "Why are you here?"

Ra looked at the Pharaoh and then a voice bellowed in the empty dark space.

"We have come to thank you Pharaoh for what you have done, however, we bear the unfortunate news of what is to come now."

The Pharaoh looked confused. He was sure the worst has come to past with Zorc sealed in the puzzle. However before he could think more about the subject, the Pharaoh felt a trudge and look down to see a shadow like a whip, wrapped around his wrist. It was shocking, but the Pharaoh knew the shadows were just doing their job to finish the seal. He looked at the Gods and shouted his request, "Please Gods of Egypt!" He yelled, as half his body was now in the shadows. "Go forth and find help. Help my friends and the Chosen One!"

The Gods nodded and in a flash, they left. It was when the shadows began to wrap about his face, the Pharaoh became scared.

In a mutter, as he let a tear fell down his cheek he said, "Help...me."

Many years later in Domino City

"PHARAOH!"

A young boy that looked like the pharaoh gasped as he sat straight up from his bed as if he had freezing cold water poured down on him.

The boy, who tries to control his breathing felt like he had run a marathon. He tried to remember the details of his dream, but like before it slowly faded again before he could write any notes down. The only notes he was able to put down was, his dream was about a Pharaoh, battling a monster and now the boy was able to write down a quick note saying there were a man and woman with the Pharaoh.

"Dame it." The boy muttered at the last bit of memory of the dream faded.

He looked at his phone to see it was still late and the boy was not happy at the fact his nightmare had to happen on a school night.

"Yugi are you ok?"

Yugi looked towards the door to see his Grandfather look at him in worry. Not that Yugi could blame him due to the lack of sleep.

"Fine Grandpa," Yugi muttered as he rubs his sleepy eye while trying to hold back a yawn.

His Grandpa looked unconvinced.

"This is the fifth night this week. Maybe I should ring the school and take you to the doctors."

Yugi quickly shook his head. He never told his friends about his nightmares and being off school just to go to the doctors would make them curious. Especially Joey and having Joey worried was a bad thing for Yugi, as he would probably force himself to stay in Yugi's house just to make sure his best friend had a decent amount of sleep.

"I'll be ok Grandpa. Maybe it the nerves for the upcoming exam."

Knowing it was pointless to argue, his Grandpa signed and believed the story just for Yugi's sake, as he went back to his room.

Yugi let out a sigh of relief and lied down back in his bed.

Then something began to glow and it was not the lamp as Yugi was sure he turned it off. Yugi turned to see where the source of light was coming from and that's when he saw his puzzle and it was glowing.

It glowed for a few minutes before it slowly faded away. Without a second thought, Yugi closed his eyes to let his soul go inside the puzzle. It was not long for his spirit friend Yami to appear in the corridor connecting both their soul rooms.

"Yugi, what's wrong?"

"Yami, has anything strange happen to you or the puzzle?" Yugi asked.

"Not that I can think of. Why is something wrong?"

Yugi became silent. He knew even told Yami about his nightmares and now with the puzzle glowing, this all seems to be a sign of danger coming.

Yami could tell his young friend was having a hard time to respond, so without even thinking about it Yami opens the door to Yugi's soul room and the two entered the childlike room.

When they sat on the bed, Yami began to see Yugi slowly becoming calmer. "Now tell me what's wrong."

The two friends began to chat on the recent events and Yami did have to agree on one thing and that upcoming danger was approaching. They do not know when it will happen but after the puzzle incident, it should be soon.

While this was happening, in an open field a portal appears inches above the ground and soon two people came out.

Mana groaned in pain, as a time-travelling portal can be a killer if the transporter is injured. She could feel herself loses consciousness as gentle footsteps approach the two injured magicians. Before Mana could say anything darkness clouded her mind and the next thing she knew, she was passed out.

Konoha at the Hyuga household

Hinata gasped.

She could fear her heart thumping hard in her chest, as she tried to calm her breathing.

Hinata could still remember the screams of pain and terror from her friends and the feeling of something ripping her apart. But what made her wake up in fight was the strange circle in the sky of her dream. It looked like an eye and it was sucking her, Naruto, Sakura, an unknown shinobi and even Sasuke Uchiha into its abysses.

The Hyuga quickly shook her head as she got out of bed and went to the training grounds to think. She had hoped to bump into her father, sister or even Neji, but she knew her father and sister would still be in bed due to the early hour of the morning and Neji was on a mission.

It was a nightmare, she kept telling herself but the feeling of the pain she felt was real. Her body still arched of the after effect, which meant her dream was far from being a nightmare. Does that mean it was a vision of upcoming events?

Hinata would not normally believe in visions of the future, but after experiencing this nightmare, Hinata had to reconsider the possibilities.

Her team would be picking her up in 2 hours, which was enough to get ready, pack her equipment for any upcoming missions and maybe a nice walk around the Hyuga compound to clear her mind.

Like every morning before team meetings, Kiba ended up late as he overslept while Shino was annoyed on the fact Kiba failed to say good morning to him after he said it to Hinata.

Unfortunately, the nightmare was still making Hinata feel uneasy and it was time to put an end to it. She needed to find Naruto.

"H-Have any of you guys seen Naruto-kun recently?" Hinata asked, hoping they have, but to her disappointment, her two teammates said they have not seen the blonde ninja.

"However I do remember Naruto saying something about a mission," Kiba said as Hinata looked up at him. "Yeah. It was something about Orochimaru and Sakura's message from the Akatsuki member she defeated."

"When will he be leaving for the mission, Kiba-kun?" Hinata asked quickly, making Kiba look up at his female teammate in surprise.

"Today. If you hurry, you might be able to meet up with them."

Without a moment to waste, Hinata bolted as she voiced out her apology and to ask them to tell Kurenai that she will be away on a mission.

Kiba meanwhile looked confused and turned to Shino.

"Did you understand what just happened?"
