A/N. I have this habit of writing stories simultaneously. I saw a dream last night and inspired me to write this story; it's about Rose eventually marrying Cal after Titanic. (Not an impressive title)

Reality and Dreams

17th July 1912,

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The people inside the DeWitt Bukater mansion were all in hurry that day. A maid was guiding a hairdresser to tend on the bride's hair and meanwhile some others were helping the stewards to carry things on the car so they can be taken in Golden Ballroom. Ruth DeWitt Bukater was standing proudly in the middle of the Sitting Room keeping a sharp eye to everything. Finally, her plans were taking their way. This marriage would ensure that she be secured for the rest of her life. Rose was young, beautiful and clever- everything a Hockley bride needed. Thankfully, she had succeeded this plan, even getting over a few issues.

Meanwhile, Rose DeWitt Bukater was sitting cross-legged in the big bed of her bedroom glancing at her wedding dress. The dress was pure silk draped with beaded silk georgette. It had lace at the neckline, crystalline and silver beads and silver sequins. The veil was made of soft silk, making Rose hating it even more. She took a big breath trying to relax.

Eight, she counted trying to calm down.

I can't turn away without knowing you'll be alright

Rose gasped opening her eyes. His voice. His eyes, his lips, his voice meant everything to her. She hadn't came to terms with his death, she had sat on her bedroom all day long for days, letting her mother prepare everything for the wedding. She wouldn't care anymore. She would just sink into her depression and live in her own world- a world where only she and Jack existed.

A sharp knock interrupted her from the thoughts. She got up slowly. "Come in"

The door opened and the new maid her mother had hired entered inside. Rose had gotten out from her bath just a few hour before and she was still wearing her bathing robe. "Your mother said you should start getting ready Miss. The wedding starts on a hour and half"

Rose nodded. "Thank you Louise. Come help me with that damned corset" she said. She slipped inside the underwear and Louise started lacing her corset. Rose clinged on the bedpost as the corset took her breath away. How she could dance with this thing? She hardly walked with it.

A few hour later Rose was ready. She was wearing the beautiful wedding dress, along with her heels, and had a beautiful tiara and veil digging on her scalp. She felt something heavy on her throat and she winced as the maid put the Heart of the Ocean around her neck.

Ruth DeWitt Bukater entered inside the room and beamed upon seeing her daughter on her beautiful dress with the maids fussing over her. "Oh darling you're so beautiful! Everyone will be so impressed! The perfect Hockley bride!"

Rose snorted. "That's the reason I'm getting married? For the gossips?"

Ruth reddened and glanced at the maid and hairdresser behind her. "Rose!" she hissed, "Don't act like this!"

"I'm sorry Mother," Rose said almost sarcastically. "I forgot I'm not allowed to speak"

Ruth glared at her and shook her head. The words that followed stabbed Rose's heart. "Your little rat is dead Rose. Stop thinking about him because even if he was alive you wouldn't be able to have a chance with him. You're marrying the richest man in Pittsburgh. Stop acting melodramatic. Your father didn't work that hard for you to be a brat!"

"Do you want me to remind you that father left us debts and didn't even care?" Rose asked raising an eyebrow. She had never acted like this before Titanic but right now she didn't care.

"That's enough Rose. I'll not have more discussions about this. It's time for us to get in the car and go to the church. Everyone will be there by now" Ruth said glancing at the clock hanging on the wall. Rose noticed her mother's dressing. She was wearing a dress in a rich red colour and had a expensive necklace on her neck. Her red hair was arrayed in a beautiful bun and had small diamonds on it.

"Mrs. and Miss DeWitt Bukater," a steward said entering inside the room, "the room is here to take you in the church"

Ruth nodded. "Very well. Come on Rose let's go. Make sure you don't dirt your dress, it costed a fortune"

Slowly and carefully, Rose made her way to the stairs, drinking every part of the house. She was leaving her childhood home. She didn't expect to be sad or anything, after all she hadn't good memories inside the house. This place was more like a museum than a cozy, family house. She wished she could be leaving to become Mrs. Jack Dawson not Mrs. Caledon Hockley.

Rose gasped upon exiting the property. The car was much alike than the one that she had gave her virginity to Jack. She trembled as she entered inside along with her mother who was bantering about how this wedding would be the wedding of the year. Rose looked outside of the window, the veil hiding most of the view. She watched the landscape moving on as she still heard her mother talking and talking as she sank in a beautiful dream-

"Rose! Are you listening to me? I was telling that even Johanna Anderson will attend and you know how barely she goes to weddings. Isn't this wonderful?"

Rose looked at her mother fighting the urge to roll her eyes. Was that the reason her mother was living? To please society and gossip about them? For first time she longed to leave for Pittsburgh so she could finally escape from that dreadful woman.

"Yeah" Rose lied, swallowing a lump in her throat. "Brilliant"

The rest of the riding was quiet. As they got closer to the church Rose felt a sinking feeling on the pit of her stomach. She played with the material of her dress as she spotted the huge building coming into view. It was time to say good-bye to her old life and become Mrs. Hockley. How much she dreaded this.

The church was decorated with red roses and lilies. A red carpet was spreaded in the long corridor following the double doors. Rose took a deep breath as one of the bridesmaids handed her the bouquet of roses. Rose clutched the bouquet firmly in her hands as her heels echoed in the corridor. She heard murmurs from inside the church as the society gossiped about the upcoming ceremony. Just then the band started playing.

Rose watched dreadfully as each one of the bridesmaids and the flower girl entered inside, followed by her mother. Rose tried to take gulps of air as she thought she was going to faint.

"I'm sorry Jack" she whispered. "I've failed you."

She turned and looked at the clear blue sky, the same colour with his eyes. "We'll meet in another life. By then...I love you"

"Please rise for the bride" the priest announced as the band began playing the wedding tune. When Rose opened her eyes again gasps filled the room as she slowly walked to the corridor. It seemed like an eternity. She wanted to get over that task as soon as she could.

Rose kept her eyes on the altar where her fiancé, soon to be Husband, waited. He was standing proudly along with his father who nodded at Rose approvingly. Rose arrived at the edge and tensed as Cal took her delicate arm and lead her besides him.

Rose didn't listen at what the priest was telling, she only thought about Jack being besides her, refusing to follow the reasoning of the society and begin a family together. She snapped out of her daydreaming as the priest stopped talking.

The priest cleared his throat. "Please face each other" he said and Rose turned to look in Cal's hazel eyes. She couldn't sense what he was feeling. "Do you Caledon Nathan Hockley, take Rose Adeline DeWitt Bukater as your lawfully wife, take care of her in sickness and health until death separates you?"

"I do"

With trembling hands, Rose took the ring from the red cushion and slipped it on Cal's finger. She released a breath she didn't realized she was holding.

"Do you Rose Adeline DeWitt Bukater, take Caledon Nathan Hockley, as your lawfully husband, take care of him in sickness and health until death separates you?"

The words escaped her mouth without thinking. "I do" she said and with a smirk, Cal slipped the heavy ring on her finger.

"I now present Mr. and Mrs. Caledon Hockley! You might kiss the bride"

The kiss was not passionate- at least not for her. His lips were nothing compared to Jack's but she tried to throw the thoughts away. It happened. She had became Mrs. Caledon Hockley. Nothing mattered anymore.
