Kendra sat on the cool porch as the wind tousled her hair. The sky was full of dreary grey clouds that looked over everything and dropped the soft pitter-patter of rain. Spring weather was usually like this and being at Fablehaven was no exception. Kendra had stepped outside for a moment to get away from all the busy preparations for the upcoming festival night. Her job was to recruit fairies for the lanterns, as a precaution against the creatures that roamed free that night. She took a big inhale, the clean smell relaxing her. Her thoughts drifted to Lena. Kendra missed her deeply and every time the rain fell it took her to that moment when she had found Lena outside in the rain, doing gardening. A heaviness weighed on Kendra's shoulders and she readjusted her position against the support beam that lay at her back. Seth slid the back door open and walked out "Kendra come on we got some snarky little fairies who-" Seth stopped short of his sentence when he noticed the far-off misty look in her eyes. Her expression matched the skies. He walked over her and sat down, with feet dangling over the side of the porch. "You ok?" He gently asked. Kendra gave him a slight nod. "Do I need to continue this baby talk voice for you to gain the excessive amount of happiness you deserve?" A faint smile tugged t her lips. "So…" he trailed off. "What's a whales favorite game? Swallow the leader!" Kendra let out a deep breath accompanied with a sigh. "Well That didn't work time for plan B. Remember when we were really little and I accidentally pulled off that button eye on your teddy bear." "I told mom I hate your guts." Kendra replied eyes crinkling in a smile. "Anything change?" Kendra lightly punched him in the shoulder and he overreacted, flopping all over the place, reminding Kendra of when he got turned into an almost-walrus. "Man you were so mad." "I don't think that's the biggest mistake you've made. It's probably like… the third worst." "If there's one thing I've learned is to never mess with a mad Kendra. Or else she gets really mad at you when you spill her deepest secrets to some interesting individuals." "Seth!" Seth darted up and quickly booked it towards the door, with Kendra trailing close behind.
