"It's all the same," Hermione muttered, throwing another book at the wall.

"It's not. There must be something, somewhere we haven't looked," Luna stated, gently taking Hermione's hands. Hermione looked down at Luna's pale fingers, at her blue painted nails and smiled.

"You're right," she said after a moment. "How is it you're always right?"

"Because I'm me?" Luna suggested. Hermione smiled.

"That you are," she replied, leaning across the table and kissing Luna. "Fine, if you're so knowledgeable about everything, then tell me how this is going to work? Tell me where to look to find the answers," Hermione stated, gesturing to the shelves surrounding the two witches. Luna looked around, her blue eyes quickly reading the titles.

She rose to her feet and walked over the bookshelf to her left. Her fingernails traced the spines of the books. She closed her eyes as she walked. Finally, she stopped, opened her eyes and pulled a black book off the shelf. She walked back over to the wooden table and handed the book to Hermione.

"This one," she stated. Hermione looked at the book in her hand.

"A Thousand and One Mystical Plants of the Mediterranean?" she asked. Luna nodded. Hermione raised her eyebrow at her wife.

"Really?" she asked. Luna shrugged.

"You asked me which book had the answers, this is the one," she replied, sliding back into her seat.

"Sometimes your cryptic answers really drive me crazy," Hermione laughed. Slowly she started flipping through the book. She didn't recognize most of the plants the book talked about. She had just flipped the page again when Luna reached across the table and grabbed Hermione's hand. Hermione looked down at the plant listed.

"Luna, just because something is called a Motherwart doesn't mean it will make us mothers," she laughed.

"But it doesn't mean it won't," Luna argued. Hermione's brown eyes scanned the page, slowly her eyes widened.

"Luna... I don't know how... but this might just work. There's several variations the plant, subspecies that have fertility boosting properties. It also lists a potion in which the plant is one of the key ingredients!"

"Any chance it actually tells you the recipe for the potion?" Luna asked. Hermione shook her head, causing her curls to bounce.

"No, but I have a feeling I know someone who will know exactly where I might find a copy."

"Do you really think Professor Snape will help us?"

"Why wouldn't he? It's a rare ingredient, a strange potion, sounds right up his alley, doesn't it?" Hermione asked. Luna nodded slowly.

"It does. Are you going to write him, or should I?" she asked.

"I'll write him, I think he's still mad about you blowing up his lab with the Snorkack horn," Hermione said.

Severus Snape stared at the letter in front of him. He'd recognized the writing instantly. For a brief second, he'd wondered why Hermione Granger would be writing him. It was too much to hope that maybe, just maybe she wanted something to do with him.

"Motherwart," he muttered. "What does she want with that?" he asked the empty room. He had heard of the plant, although he had never had a use for it personally. He also knew that the newly appointed Professor Neville Longbottom was currently cultivating a sample in his greenhouse. He grabbed a sheet of parchment and wrote a quick letter to Hermione, asking her meet with him. It would be easier to figure out what the witch was up face to face.

"He wants to meet with me," Hermione said, showing the letter from Severus to Luna.

"Do you think he's going to help us?" she asked.

"Only way to find out, come with me?"

"Of course," Luna replied, taking Hermione's hand.

The pair walked into the coffee shop Severus had selected. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Luna and Hermione together.

"Professor Snape, you remember Luna?" Hermione asked. Severus nodded, motioning for the witches to sit. They complied.

"How could I forget," he muttered. "So, this is why you're inquiring about the Motherwart?"

"We want to start a family and biology is a bit against us, as you can see," Hermione stated. "According the book Luna found, there's a potion that might be able to help us. We instantly thought of you, being a potion master."

"You flatter me, Miss Granger. What would I gain from helping you?"

"Our undying gratitude?" Luna suggested. "Or we could give the child your name, as a middle name of course?"

"What do you want?" Hermione asked, tilting her head. Severus couldn't help but smile at he way the light filtered through her hair. Luna noticed him looking.

"He wants you, Hermione. That's what he wants, what he's always wanted, isn't it?" she asked.

"I can't deny I am attracted to you, Hermione, that I have been for some time."
"What about Luna? What about the way her eyes sparkle and the way her smile lights up a room? Have you ever noticed those things?" Hermione asked. Severus shook his head.

"I can't say that I have," he admitted. Luna gave Hermione a look.

"You can't have my wife," she said.

"I wouldn't dream of breaking you two apart. Hermione deserves to happy, even if it's not with me. I will help you, the both of you, if only for her sake. If only to see the smile on her face when she's holding your first born child," Severus finally said. "And I want full credit if this works."

"I have no objection to that. I even know a reporter for Potions Monthly, I could make sure he publishes an interview if this works?"

"I would appreciate that, Miss Granger. I have yet to achieve my goal of being on the cover, not to mention the implications this potion could have if successful. I might even be named potioneer of the decade," he said, thinking about how the trophy would look on his shelf.

"Isn't he adorable," Luna whispered, touching the top of the baby's head.

"Absolutely adorable. What's his name?"

"John Severus Granger-Lovegood," Hermione answered. Severus nodded.

"We have you to thank, you know. Without you, he wouldn't exist. Thank you, Severus," Luna said, giving the former potions professor a smile. Severus had in fact gotten the title potioneer of the decade. With that title, he retired from teaching to devote his time to research. The fact that Luna and Hermione had started helping him with said research hadn't escaped him, neither did the way the light sparkled in Luna's eyes and the way Hermione's laughter always filled his lab. He couldn't help but wonder if little John Severus might someday have a half sibling and a third surname added to the list.
