The last goodbye
"He will always be with us", Mal breathes and looks at the fresh earth in front of them. Next to her, Evie sobs softly while Jay also fights with himself. None of them can really deal with the feelings in their hearts. The anger from the beginning has given way to deep pain and infinite grief. None of the three former villains can really handle it. They don't know that feeling. But since her little best friend is gone, this feeling has been pervasive. It doesn't stop. It's still as strong as it was at the beginning. Each of them remembers the moment they found Carlos.
He was lying peacefully in his bed. But he never woke up again. Carlos fell asleep forever. He was ill. They couldn't have helped him anymore, but that doesn't really relieve the pain. Knowing that he is now gone, his wonderful soul is lost, makes them getting ready. It breaks their hearts, makes them feel deep and intense pain that they did not know before. But they all know where this pain comes from. They loved him, love him beyond his death, but he's gone. The little happy boy will never come back to them. Carlos is now in a different world, a world they cannot reach. His wonderful soul must not be lost.
He was like a light in their lives, infected them with his happiness and warmth and was always there for the three friends. When they came to Auradon as the four VKs, Carlos was the first person who opened, who put the good in his heart. He was braver than they thought.
Carlos' heart was pure and innocent and they all know that each of them deserved to die more than their little friend. Unfortunately, life is not fair. It chose the purest, most beautiful, brightest and most innocent soul and took it from them all. All that remains for Jay, Mal and Evie are memories. The memories of every little moment with the white-haired boy. Every laugh, every smile, every touch, and every hug. Things which none of them will ever forget. They can still feel his incredible love for all of them. They still see Carlos in front of them, laughing and cheerful.
But they are only memories. Memories of the wonderful time with Carlos. Memories that make them happy but also infinitely sad. Their eyes are on the light blue sky. The sun is shining and it is warm, but it is dark in their hearts. Carlos took the light with him. He was their light. Because of his death, it has now gone out forever.
At that moment Evie takes the hands of Jay and Mal and together they look at the grave. Here he found peace. Now he's an angel. A star. They all know that Carlos will shine down on them every night as the brightest star. And they all know that the little boy will always be with them. In their thoughts, memories, and hearts. Death cannot take everything from them. The memories and love will stay. Forever.
