More Gravity Falls! This story is set in the Reverse Falls universe, which I've been absolutely dying to sink my claws into since I found it, and I've also wanted to try and write a dialogue free story for a while now, so this is also my first shot at that. This story was inspired by a Reverse Falls fanart piece which was, as far as I can tell, created by trudy0816 on Tumblr. It's very well done and I actually recommend looking them up, they make very beautiful fan art for a lot of fandoms. The piece that inspired this story has Mabel and Dipper leaning against each other, and both their nails are painted. My fanatic brain went on a tangent about how cute it would be if they painted each other's nails and that was how they bonded, since as we all know the Gleeful twins aren't particularly affectionate, even if they do love each other. So, this story was born. Now enough with my rambling, on with the story!

Oh, yeah, disclaimer: I don't own Gravity Falls, and I am not associated with it besides writing these fanfictions.

Blood pooled on the hard stone floor, and a shadowed figure with piercing blue eyes and long, thick hair cackled. She held a knife in her hand, which she was slowly dragging across bruised and swollen skin. A deep cut opened and gushed blood, with which her hands were already coated. Small, weak whines emanated from the bound and bloodied figure, and Mabel grinned wide, white teeth glinting in the glow from her amulet. A short, annoyed cough came from the corner of the room, and Mabel turned with a glare to face her twin. The callous boy looked back at her, vaguely annoyed but unperturbed. He raised his arm and tapped his wrist, though he wasn't wearing a watch. His sister huffed and sneered, but stood back. He regarded the thoroughly beaten person with something akin to disgust, and reluctantly wiped his hands over the fresh wound. He pressed a finger against the amulet on his tie, and his sister did the same with the amulet that rested on her headband. Dipper pressed both palms to their victim's cheeks, leaving behind blood handprints. Then he held out his hand and Mabel reluctantly relinquished her knife.

Blood poured in waves from the slit throat, but neither of them paid it mind as they walked in unison back to their rooms. Both amulets glowed brightly, and when they reached their rooms Mabel grabbed Dipper's hand and dragged him into her room.

He went without protest, carefully keeping his hands away from the rest of his clothing. Mabel had not been so careful, and stripped off her bloodstained blue vest, leaving just the black shirt underneath. He slipped into the bathroom while she grabbed a clean vest, and made quick work of washing the blood off his hands. His nails were ruined though. Mabel walked in and he stepped away from the sink, nabbing a few bottles of nail polish, some sponges, some nail art brushes, some glitter and some acetone. He settled himself at a small table by a window and set out the materials he had grabbed.

After a moment his sister sat down across from him, and put her hands flat on the table, palms down. He worked silently, cleaning the stray blood and ruined polish off her nails while she sat stock still and watched him work. While the coats of polish dried they would take turns making small objects dance around her room, switching back and forth in controlling them. Finally Dipper picked up a small brush and dotted white polish across two of her nails, trailing the brush between the dots to create a simple design.

When that had dried Mabel raised her hands and inspected his work.

She didn't smile, didn't say anything, but he caught the way her eyes lit up.

He put his hands in front of her, again palms down, and she cleaned the paint off his nails.

She didn't give him the same nail design, she was far too creative to ever copy someone's work, especially his, but the design she put on two of his nails was similar to the one he had put on hers. He didn't smile either when he inspected them, but his eyes glinted just like hers did.

Of course, no one would notice such a small detail, but under the glow of the stage lights Mabel's nails glittered blue over a curtain of black, a small constellation painted in white over a sea of blue glitter the only disruption. On Dipper's nails navy-grey galaxies shone, and a white star glinted from a curtain of that same dull navy.

Dipper Gleeful wears nail polish and I won't be convinced otherwise. Anyways, I'm really happy with this. The longest story I've written in a while, and it doesn't feel artificial!
