Anyone else not like how Together Forever was handled at the end? Anyone else wanted Connie to dig her heels in and not leave to go back to studying? Anyone else think Connie would have thought Steven's feelings to be more important than studying? Well this is the story for you, how the rest of the series might have gone if Connie had suggested an alternative.
"Steven, I'm not leaving, this right now, is way more important than studying, YOU'RE more important to me than studying, we are way too young to get married and my parents wouldn't allow it right now anyway, but we can still be together," said Connie hugging Steven close.
"But how?" asked Steven, he was so close to breaking down.
"We can be boyfriend and girlfriend first, we can date and be together as much as possible and then when both of us are ready we can get married," said Connie. Then she got a text from her mom
Mom: Where are you? Your study break was over 5 minutes ago!
Connie: I'm with Steven, he needs me now more than I need to study, I'll be back later
Mom: Fine, but you better not fail that test tomorrow.
Connie sighed and then gently sat them both on the picnic blanket.
"Steven, you need to talk to me, what's going on with you?" asked Connie, not letting go of him
"First I got this new power that's out of control and I feel like no one needs me and everyone's leaving, they are all moving on with their lives and know exactly what they want to do, I just feel so alone and lost Connie," cried Steven,
"Shhh, it's ok, I'm here I'm not leaving for a long time and even if I was leaving I'd make sure to talk to you every day," said Connie softly as she held him, the more he talked the more he began to sob. She just held him, grateful that she hadn't left to go back to studying, not when he needed her like this. How much had happened to him while she wasn't around? Were all his friends really just up and leaving him? These thoughts raced through her head as she held her sobbing biscuit. She saw Garnet off in the distance, looking relieved that this was the timeline they were in. Connie rubbed Steven's back soothingly
"I'm here, it's ok, we'll get through this, I love you too much to let you continue hurting like this," said Connie gently, Steven just sobbed into her shirt. Connie looked at the wonderful picnic Steven had prepared.
"Let's eat this adorable picnic you set up," said Connie gently, Steven just nodded but didn't let go of her, he couldn't, she was the only thing keeping him from breaking. They ate the cake in silence, Connie occasionally kissing Steven's forehead.
"Steven, anytime you feel lonely or like you're losing control, send Lion to come get me, I promise I'll be there for you, you are just as much part of my dreams for the future as college, I can also come over to your house to study," said Connie
"I'd like that," sniffed Steven, still clinging to her.
"Good, come on, we can ride lion back together," said Connie. Steven nodded numbly and stood up.
"I'll text you every morning before I go to school and then once I'm done I'll come over to your house and we can cuddle while I study ok," said Connie. Steven nodded. They were now outside Connie's house, facing each other. Connie wrapped her arms around him and pressed her lips against his. Steven melted into the kiss, his fears and problems melting away for that brief moment.
"I'll text you tomorrow, I love you, Steven," said Connie before heading into her house
"I love you too," said Steven, smiling for the first time in hours.
