"It's bad," Hermione whispered, tears falling from her eyes. Severus fought the urge to wipe them away.

"How bad?" he asked.

"She's unconscious, they say she might not wake up. They just attacked her, Severus! They attacked her and took John. I don't... Why? She hasn't done anything to anyone," Hermione sobbed. Severus pulled her against him, letting her cry against his chest.

"We will find him," he promised. She nodded slightly.

"That's what the Aurors said too, but Severus, I don't... I..."

"Come on, we should be by Luna's side when she wakes. Let's let the ministry do their job," he stated, producing a tissue. Hermione dried her eyes and nodded.

"Besides, we would just be in their way," he added.

"We should make a list, anyone that would want to take John. He doesn't have enemies, Severus, he's a baby!"

Hermione and Severus walked into Luna's room. She was laying in the bed. She almost appeared to be asleep. Hermione slid into the chair next to her bed.

"We're going to find him, Luna. Severus is here too. Severus, say something to her, let her know you're here," Hermione stated.

"Luna, Hermione is right. I am here. We are both here, we have the best people working on this. I also have my own people searching for John," he stated. Hermione nodded, her eyes still sparkling with tears. Her hand found Luna's, holding it tightly.

"Severus, do you really mean that?" Hermione asked.

"Mean what?"

"That you have your people on it?"

"Yes. Lucius is also searching for your son. He still has some pull in some of the darker circles," Severus answered. Hermione nodded.

"Thank you," she whispered, looking at Luna. She reached over and brushed a stray strand of hair from her wife's forehead.

"Don't thank me until we've found him," Severus stated, summoning a chair. He sat next to Hermione watching Luna. Hermione laid her head against his shoulder. Severus put an arm around her. Hermione had actually managed to fall asleep against Severus. He looked at his two sleeping witches. His blood boiled at the thought someone had hurt Luna and taken her son.

It had been a few hours when there was a knock on the door. Severus looked over and wandlessly opened the door. Lucius strolled in.

"I take you have something then?" Severus asked. Lucius looked at the sleeping witch on Severus' shoulder and the one in the bed.

"I do, but you're not going to like it," Lucius stated. "Do you want to wake your witch? She might want to hear what I have to say."

Severus shifted slightly, causing Hermione to open her eyes. She blinked a few times, looked around and finally settled to staring at Lucius.

"Find something?" she asked, her voice grave.

"I did, Miss Granger, or is it Snape now? I can never keep track of these things."

"It doesn't matter. Have you found my son?" Hermione asked.

"No, I have not located the child. I have however, gotten a lead on who is behind the kidnapping."

"Who?"

"Antonin Dolohov," Lucius answered. Hermione nodded.

"He was a Death Eater, the one who attacked me at the ministry my fifth year. What does he want with John?"

"He's not interested in you Miss Granger, nor in Miss Lovegood."

"Me," Severus stated. "He's trying to get at me."

"Yes, I believe he thinks the child is your son."

"He is, just not biologically," Severus stated. "Where is he, Lucius? Where is Dolohov?"

"I don't know, Severus. I have all ears to the ground, but no one has seen him in years."

"Are you certain he's behind this?" Hermione asked. "I know how to find him, I just need to be certain," she whispered. Severus stared at her.

"The curse he used at the ministry. It left a scar, a trace of dark magic. I can use it to find him, but it's going to be dangerous and difficult," she whispered. Severus blinked. Luna was in a coma and his other witch, one of the witches he loved with his whole heart, was suggesting doing something dangerous.

"Hermione."

"Lucius, are you certain?" she asked. He nodded.

"Severus, if this goes wrong, tell John I love him," she whispered.

"Hermione, you can't do this!"

"I can. I can use the magic to find Dolohov."

"No. There must be another way. Maybe Lucius' sources will come through? Maybe the Aurors will come through?"

"I need to find him, before he can hurt John," Hermione whispered, tears forming in her eyes again.

"He's safe, Dolohov won't hurt him, he wants to use him to lure Severus," a soft voice stated. Hermione and Severus turned to be met with Luna's big blue eyes.

"Luna! You're awake!"

"Yes, it appears I am. I heard you fighting, and the voice in my head said John was safe for now," Luna said looking at her wife and husband. Neither one doubted for a moment Luna was telling the truth. It wasn't the first time she'd known something she had no way of knowing. And not the first time the voices in her head had told her future or current events.

"We still need to find him," Hermione stated.

"Yes, we do, but if John is not in any immediate danger..."

Hermione glared at Severus.

"Hermione, you risking your life is a last resort. Right now, we know Dolohov wants to use John to get to me, to lure me somewhere."

"He wants to kill you for betraying the Dark Lord," Lucius said. Luna nodded. Severus sighed. It wasn't really a surprise Dolohov wanted him dead.

Lucius left about five minutes after Luna woke, claiming he had leads to try to investigate. Severus knew his old friend just wanted to give the trio some privacy.

"How long do we have to wait?" Hermione asked. She had already started pacing.

"I doubt he'll wait very long, not if he wants vengance," Severus said, looking out the window of Luna's hospital room. "Actually, that looks like an owl now," he said, opening the window and allowing a large owl into the room.

"Is it... from him?" Hermione asked as Severus read the letter.

"Yes, he wants to meet me in an hour. I'm to come alone, if I show up he will arrange to have my son released."

"He's going to kill you," Hermione said.

"Yes, I believe that is his plan, but I promise I will return to you two, with John. Stay here, and try not to worry too much," Severus ordered. Hermione glared at him. Luna took her wife's hand.

"Bring our son back home safely," she said, giving Severus a smile.

"I can't keep waiting," Hermione stated, after her and Luna had played their fifth game of cards.

"You can and you will, my love. Severus will be fine. He's always fine. He'll be back soon with John and Dolohov will rot in Azkaban," she stated. "Trust me, Hermione," she added, giving Hermione a smile.

"How is it you can always stay so calm, Luna?"

"Because, I know things will work out, in one way or another. Besides, I have faith in our Severus."

Hermione shook her head, wishing she had just an iota of Luna's optimism. She sighed, and dealt the next hand. She was just about to win when the door swung open.

"Severus!" she screamed, jumping to her feet. Severus walked into the room, his cloak wrapped around himself. He gently released it. The black cloak billowed around him revealing the sleeping baby in his arms.

"See, I told you he'd be fine," Luna smiled as Severus handed her John. Hermione hugged Severus tightly.

"You had me worried. What happened?"

"Dolohov will not be bothering us again, let's leave it at that," Severus said. "In fact, none of the former Death Eaters will ever be bothering our family again," he added. Hermione raised an eyebrow while Luna cooed over the baby.

"Should I even ask?"

"No. John's safe, unharmed, and our family is now protected. That is all you need to know," he said. Hermione kissed him before turning her attention to the baby. She had a pretty good idea what had happened at the meeting and what her husband had done. That was all in the past, they were all safe and, for now, happy.
