Authors Note: This will be my first actual attempt at writing anything, so try not to flame me too hard in the comments. I'm a long time reader, and I had some ideas for a story. This idea was heavily influenced by one of my favorite stories, (Total Command by Epsilon110 go check it out) so there are a few things I'm adding to my story from his. If you can think of any criticisms to my story, please leave a comment or pm me. I'll do my best to try and make the story with any feedback I get. Let's get to it!
"Quirks were first discovered over 200 years ago when blah blah blah blah" the teacher droned on in a slight monotone. Everyone knew the information that he was spouting out. It had been all the rage for the past two centuries. But since it had been on repeat for 200 years, Midoriya had gotten slightly bored of hearing it. He twirled his pencil idly, trying to distract himself from this boring "Quirk History" class. This class might've been more exciting when quirks were first discovered, but now nearly 80% of the entire population had a quirk. Another major discovery about quirks is that only women had them.
"Next, we should discuss what you all want to be when you grow up," she paused for a few seconds before saying, "oh who am I kidding, you all want to be heroes!" and she proceeded to throw all the forms into the air. The class went wild demonstrating their mostly useless quirks. There was a loud explosion from the back before a girl started speaking.
"Don't lump me with this garbage class, teach" she said "I'm the only person here who's capable of being a good hero!" The class exploded in an uproar after she said that before the teacher spoke again.
"Oh, right. Katsumi, you're applying to UA, right?" The class quieted at this before murmurs of the extremely low acceptance rate to UA broke out. Katsumi looked very proud of herself before the teacher added something else.
"It seems Midoriya is also applying to UA." The class burst into laughter and began making fun of him.
"You think you can actually make it to UA just by being smart? What an idiot!" One girl exclaimed. The class was quieted by another explosion and Katsumi stood up. Midoriya noticed the sudden temperature change and looked over nervously. Katsumi walked over and put her hand on his shoulder. His shoulder began increasing in temperature.
"You trash actually think you can get into UA? You shouldn't even try!" she whispered to him. The teacher then said,
"Sit down Katsumi," before she begrudgingly went back to her seat.
After everyone had left class, Katsumi walked over to Midoriya as he was packing up.
"I personally think you should just jump off of a bridge and hope you are a woman in the next life." She said before walking out of the classroom. These words had an unknown effect on Midoriya. He ran out of the classroom and tried to go home as fast as he could.
As he was walking through a tunnel on his way home, he had a sudden cold chill. Immediately after, a manhole cover burst open and a sludge monster came out. The sludge monster then said,
"Oooh,a man! What a nice cover to escape that woman." The sludge then proceeded to cover him, and he blacked out.
He woke up to a light breeze and opened his eyes. He looked around and was startled to see a large figure looming over him. The figure spoke and said,
"Hello young man! Thank you for helping me capture this villain! I am sorry you had to go through the trouble! Goodbye young citizen!" She then began to wind up her legs for a large leap. Midoriya then suddenly became aware and yelled,
"Wait All Might! I have a question!" but it appeared to be too late. All Might had already taken off and he had missed his chance. He began walking home slowly and sadly.
A few minutes later he suddenly felt hot. He then heard an explosion, and he ran towards the sound. He came to the spot and had another cold chill, before seeing the sludge monster again. Every few seconds another explosion would go off.
"Oh no! The sludge monster got Katsumi! I have to save her!" Before he could even think of a plan, his legs began running towards the cold mass of sludge. The surrounding heroes tried to stop him from running into the alley. He somehow managed to get past them and all the barriers. He threw his bag into the sludge monsters' eyes. There was another explosion, along with a wave of intense heat. The sludge parted a bit and Katsumi took a huge breath. Before anything else could happen, the sludge reformed and began trying to take over her body again. 'She can't take much more of this!' Midoriya thought to himself. He began clawing at the sludge before there was an even bigger wave of heat. An explosion blew most of the sludge further into the alley. It also served to knock him into a pole near the heroes. They grabbed him and took him to a medic, while All Might suddenly appeared and grabbed Katsumi. She then punched the sludge villain into oblivion.
Midoriya woke up to the heroes scolding him. He felt ashamed.
"Why would you run into danger like that? You could've been killed! Are you insane?!" Mt. Lady screamed at him.
Midoriya didn't say anything to the heroes, and they eventually let him go. He began trudging home in shame. He had just wanted to be a hero and help save someone. He once again wished that men could have quirks, just so he would have a fighting chance.
"Maybe I should give up on being a hero." He wondered out loud. There was a slight cold breeze before All Might suddenly appeared in front of him.
"All Might? What are you doing here?" he asked, surprised.
"I've come here to compliment you on your amazing bravery!" she said loudly. He felt himself swell with happiness. He was being complimented by his favorite hero, and the best hero for that matter.
"But how did you get away from all of those reporters? There was such a huge swarm!" Midoriya questioned, before All Might replied
"Those measly reporters could not keep up with me! For I AM ALL MIG—" She then began coughing up blood before a cloud of steam billowed up. As the steam cleared, Midoriya could see what was obviously a scrawny version of the great hero.
"All Might? What happened to you? Are you all right?" He asked. All Might was slightly surprised that he could tell it was still her. She beckoned him to come closer.
"I was involved in a major villain attack about 5 years ago." She began to lift up her shirt to reveal a nasty scar. "This injury took out most of my digestive system and one of my lungs."
"Oh my god! How are you still working? You should be in a hospital!" Midoriya exclaimed. All Might was touched by his care for her well-being, but she brushed it away for the moment.
"This world needs a symbol of peace to keep order. If I were to go live in a hospital, who would protect everyone else? I have to stay a hero until there is a new symbol of peace." All Might reasoned.
"But who could be as great as you?" Midoriya questioned. All Might looked at him seriously. He began to understand. "You couldn't seriously mean… You want ME to be the new symbol of peace? That's insane! How could a man with no quirk possibly be the greatest hero?"
All Might sighed heavily, before saying, "I have chosen you to inherit my quirk! You will be the next symbol of peace, and you will be the greatest hero of your time!" Midoriya shuddered slightly, before sputtering, confused. How could that be possible? No man had ever had a quirk, and he had never heard of a quirk that could be passed down! That was downright crazy. Although, no one actually knew All Might's quirk. It could be plausible that her quirk was passable. He began muttering up a storm. He was interrupted by All Might saying
"Do you want to be my successor?"
He nearly immediately answer with "Of course, but how can it be possible?"
All Might was impressed with how quick he was to answer. "We can work out the details later. For now let's get you home." All Might then walked Midoriya to his house and they exchanged phone numbers so they could talk later. He then went home and explained what had happened to his mother, who had been worried sick.
