"Ugh..."
A man standing guard outside a door sighed to nothing. The look on said man's face could only be described as pure boredom. He turned to the person on the other who was looking straight ahead quietly.
"Hey, dude." The man said to his partner.
"Hm?" He hummed.
"When does our shift end?"
The man's partner looked at him for a bit before sighing and looking at his watch.
"Two more hours," He said simply.
"Ugh that's so long and I'm so bored!"
The man's partner sighed annoyingly, "Yes you told me that an hour ago, and the hour before that, and the hour before that hour."
"But dude I am so bored and tired!" He groaned, "And having to lug around all this stuff doesn't help." He gestured towards the vest and rifles they were holding.
"Well, the boss told us to guard his office so we will." He said resolutely trying to end the conversation.
The other guy however clearly didn't get the hint as he continued talking. " I know that it's just... couldn't he have set some chairs out for us, I mean how does he expect us to stand out here forever?"
The man's partner looked like he had enough and turned towards the man.
"God just shut up! I am tired of having to hear you complain all the ti-" Before the man could finish that sentence, a knife found itself implant in his temple. He fell onto the ground dead while the other guard could only stare shocked at the sudden interruption.
Before he could turn back around to aim his gun he was put into a chokehold by an unknown figure. The man started to gag and tried to pull the figure's arms away from him.
As the man slowly succumbed to unconsciousness he was able to hear some words from the figure.
"Night night."
The man finally slumped down to the ground and the figure kneeled and searched the guard's pockets.
"Now where are you Mr. keycard..." The figure said while looking through each pocket.
"Aha! Now there you are." The figure pulled out a keycard with the knocked out guards face on it. He moved it to a keycard scanner next to the door and the door unlocked. The figure opened the door and closed it quietly.
Just as the man closed the door he heard a voice come through his earpiece.
"Cooper are you in?" The voice said impatiently.
"Relax Roman," he said casually, "I just entered the office and I have to say, the man knows how to pick a view"
Cooper looked out the window that was behind a desk. The lights of Vale illuminating the night. They also gave us a view of what cooper was wearing.
He had a black vest with a hoodie that was currently on his head. The vest was over a dark grey long sleeve shirt that has light armor over it that was also black. On his hand were gloves that were the same color as the rest of his apparel. His pants were black and were tucked into a pair of, you guessed it, black boots. The only thing that had color in it was the green bandana that was currently around his neck. On his face was a ski mask that covered his mouth, and tinted goggles that covered his eyes.
"Sorry to interrupt but we have a job to, and might I remind you with a lot of money as a reward."
"Yeah yeah, I get it..." I looked around the room for a bit before talking to Roman again, " Hey Roman what do the things we are looking look like?"
"Well, you should look for a paper that proves that our guy has been doing some illegal things."
"Alright, gotcha," I looked around for a bit before landing my eyes on a safe. I shook my head, "No... a bit too obvious." I thought about it for a bit before coming up with an idea. "If I wanted to hide a piece of paper I would hide it amongst other normal-looking papers."
I opened the drawers on each desk searching for a folder that screamed 'suspicious'. That's when I heard a commotion outside that sounded like people talking.
They must have found the bodies I thought to myself. I better hurry this up!
I quickened my pace in finding the specific paper I needed. That's when I found a folder that looked different than the others. I pulled it out and flipped it open. I flipped through it a bit and smirked as it had just what I needed. Just as I tucked the folder into my jacket the door suddenly slammed open. A bunch of armed guards swept through the room to find that nobody was there.
A guard that looked like the leader pointed at another guard and pointed at the desk.
"You! Check that desk!" The leader commanded.
The guard nodded and moved towards the desk to inspect. He noticed the opened drawers and aimed his gun under the desk. As he moved down he started to hear an odd beeping noise. He looked under it to see something stuck under the desk and noticed how the number was at 3 seconds.
The guard opened his eyes and yelled, "Oh sh-!"
A large explosion rumbled through that part of the building as the emergency sprinklers went off on that floor. On the other side of the building, Cooper turned off his invisibility and looked towards the elevator in front of him.
"That should distract them for a while." He said as a voice talked through the earpiece.
"Jeesh I heard that from all the way over here! What did you do?" Roman asked.
"Oh I just left them a present, anyways I got the folder so where should I go now?"
I heard him sigh before speaking again. "Head down to the garage and escape through there. Then come on home and we could finish this job up."
"Ok, I'll see you there." I moved my hands towards the door of the elevator. I grunted as I slowly started to pry open the door. Once I opened it I looked down the elevator shaft to see only one elevator coming up, as the other was out of order.
Just as Roman said it would.
I jumped towards the wire easily and quickly slid down it.
Arriving at the elevator at the bottom I opened the hatch and jumped in. The lights were off but I could see the door in front of me. I prayed the door opened and walked into the garage. I looked around for a bit before noticing someone standing in front of the gate that was my way out.
"Of course something has to try and stop me," I said out loud.
The man snorted and moved his hand towards his back.
"It seems the little thief didn't expect this," He pulled a large double-bladed battle axe from his back and got into a stance, "and also I won't 'try' to stop you. I will stop you."
I rolled my eyes and pulled a pair of silver desert eagles that had blades under the barrels from their holsters on my back. "Ooo am I supposed to be scared? Because if I am then your failing miserably," I mocked.
He growled and charged towards me with his axe raised high.
"And already you made this too easy for me," I smirked arrogantly.
Just as he was going to strike me down where I was standing I dodged his attack and turned invisible. This made the axe-wielding guard look surprised before he started to look angered.
"Come out and face me like a man coward!" He yelled.
That was when he heard the gate start to open and quickly turned around to find me. All he saw was an empty garage and a half-opened gate. He ran towards the gate and forced it open to run outside. He looked around for a bit before angrily giving up.
Once I was far away enough that he wouldn't see me I tuned off my invisibility and jumped from the roofs of building to building so I could get to the rendevous point.
I mentally scoffed to myself. Who did that guy think I was? I wouldn't get into a fight if I knew I could escape it. I'm a thief, not a huntsman. I moved my hands toward my earpiece and pressed down on it.
"Roman I'm close to the docks."
"Alright, I'll unlock the door for you."
Finishing the conversation I jumped from a building to the top of a warehouse and jumped down in front of the door. The guard that was in front looked a little surprised but quickly got over it as he was expecting me to come. He nodded at me and I nodded back as I walked into the warehouse.
I moved past the men who working and moving around crates of illegal goods and towards a room on the side which had a window with shades that were drawn closed. Opening the door I saw Roman leaning over a table that had a map of Vale and a bunch of other papers on it. Neo was sitting on a couch nearby eating a tub of ice cream as she usually does. Seriously, I can't understand how that woman eats so much ice cream but never get a brain freeze. Guess it's just one of life's greatest mysteries. I took off my goggles and mask to reveal light brown skin, and a pair of green eyes and brown hair.
"Hey Roman," I looked towards the woman on the couch, "Neo."
Roman looked up towards me and nodded at me while Neo waved. Roman held out his hand so I took out the folder and handed it to him. He looked through for a bit before smirking.
"This is more than enough," he looked towards me, "Nice job, Cooper."
"Well I am the greatest thief in Vale," I said condescendingly while exaggeratingly puffing out my chest. Roman raised an eyebrow and I groaned loudly, " Fine... I'm the second greatest thief in Vale," I said less enthusiastically.
Roman smirked mockingly, "That's much better."
I rolled my eyes before focusing on the folder. "So, what is going to happen to that folder?"
"Oh you know, be spread across the CCTNet for everyone to see, and eventually put a company out of business. You know how it usually goes."
"No, I don't," before I could continue talking I yawned loudly. "Anyway, I am going to hit the hay and remember tomorrow's my break so don't call me."
Just as I was about to leave I stopped and looked towards Neo.
"Hey Neo?"
She stopped eating her ice cream and looked at me curiously.
"You wanna come with me tomorrow?" I asked, "I am probably going to hit up an ice cream parlor after I do some other things."
Ske looked at me for a bit and then smirked and looked at me suggestingly.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes for what felt like the hundredth time, "No this is not me asking you out on a date. Sorry to burst your bubble but I like my girls less stabby."
She put on a pout and looked like she was about to cry. I was just waiting for her to stop with the act and just say yes or no. After a second or two she stopped posting and looked towards me to give me a thumbs up.
I just deadpanned at her and looked towards Roman to see that he was watching us with an amused look on his face.
"Uhh," I groaned, "whatever see you in a few days, Roman, see you tomorrow Neo."
"Yeah see you," Roman said.
Neo was waving goodbye and I left the room so I could finally go home and sleep.
A/N: Thanks for reading my fic. If you do read it all the way through could you leave some criticism? And don't hold back I want to hear everything that you found wrong with this fic and everything you found right. And about when I'll post each chapter, I don't have a concrete schedule but I'll try to post a chapter at least once a week.
