The Red Crow Flies – Haikyu Fic.
Hinata's parents inspire him to play volleyball at a young age, follow his journey to become the greatest player from a different start point. (Tall Hinata in later chapters).
Desc there for mobile readers^^
I don't really have much to say here besides note im not very knowledgeable about volleyball's more technical aspects so please excuse my mistakes and correct me if possible and also I was kinda disappointed that there was so little of this kinda fanfic about haikyu, at least as far as my searching, because they're the type I enjoy most (the type like Prenumbra for KNB, good read btw despite being unfinished) so I decided to write my own to amuse myself further than my imagination could.
Any and all criticism and questions appreciated and I hope to be able to answer.

The Hinata residence was a large two story house with a traditional Japanese style, It also featured a large back garden, complete with shrubbery flowers and a sakura tree not far from the building itself as well as a dirt volleyball court adjacent to the building.
It was a bright summer morning the calm sky stretched above littered with the tweeting of birds, sunlight streaked through the window of young Shouyou's room caressing the young redheads face.
The faint sound of a babies cry could be heard through the wall of the room before Shouyou's door was flung open.
"Sho! Time to get up!"
Shouyou shot upright awake as his mother continued down the corridor shushing his sister.
"Mmm" a groggy Hinata groaned as he pulled himself out of bed and slowly staggered in an early morning daze downstairs to the dining room and began eating his breakfast.
"Sho-chan you still haven't joined any clubs at school." said Hinata's mom
Hinata Aiko was a small, energetic woman, always wearing a bright smile and maintaining a can do attitude through anything. Her short red hair was in an unkempt bun and she was wearing a shirt far too big for her with a sports teams logo on it along with gym pants to go along with the logo's colour. She had a slim but athletic build, obviously built from years of sports, which she somehow managed to maintain even after having two children.
"Don't wanna." Stated Shouyou.
"Why not? They're fun and you get to do stuff with your friends."
Hinata's father came walking into the dining room wiping his sweat away with a towel. "You won't even try them?"
Hinata Hiroto was, in contrast to his wife, a towering man standing roughly 195cm/6'5~, and was built like a tree trunk. Broad shoulders and thick arms and legs, showing defined muscle of an elite athlete, and buzzed hair and goatee gave him a rugged and intimidating look especially at his height. However, this is where the differences stopped; he much like Aiko was bubbly and optimistic to a fault. He was dressed very similarly to Aiko sans the track pants instead opting for shorts as well as black knee pads which stretched down from beneath his shorts to midway down his shin
"But Papa!" Hinata whined but he was quickly cut off by Hiroto. "No buts! You can't say it's not for you if you haven't tried it. You might find something you really like."
Shouyou let out a "hmph" with a pout before crossing his arms. Hiroto and Aiko both sighed at their son's stubbornness. Baby Natsu just giggled at her brother's funny face. "There's gotta be something you wanna try Sho."
Shouyou seemed to struggle to hold back a response, his mouth quivering and forehead wrinkled. Aiko and Hiroto both seemed curious at his reaction. Natsu squirmed in her mother's arms seemingly even more entertained by her brothers expressions.
"C'mon Sho just tell us."
With a very strained expression Shouyou managed to muster a quiet "Volleyball"
Hiroto let out an excited shout and cheerfully asked "Well why didn't you say so? Me and your mom would be happy to teach you anytime!"
This was accompanied by a number of sharp nods from a grinning Aiko.
"But volleyball's for tall people."
Both parents froze at the sight of their dejected looking son. A silence befell the room for a moment.
Aiko was the first to break it "Ne..Sho do you think your mom is tall?"
A confused look adorned the boy's face. "Erm, you're taller than me so yes?"
Aiko let out a small chuckle at her sons innocent mindset.
"I'm not that tall for women y'kno. But even despite that your mom still kicked butt at volleyball!"
"Woah!" Shouyou's eyes lit up, gaining new found adoration for his mom.
Aiko leant back and laughed as Natsu squealed excitedly in her arms. "That's right! I was a little giant back in my day!"
Hiroto leant against the door frame, a loving look adorning his face as he watched his family. "WOAH!" Shouyou repeated even louder this time.
"What's a little giant?!" Shouyou asked without loosing an ounce of excitement.
Hiroto let out a roar of laugher at his son's question. "Even a little giant is no match for your dad!" he said arms crossed and nose in the air.
"Oh yeah?! Bring it on bean sprout!" Aiko retorted "The one who can hit the bottle with a serve the most wins!" she continued snatching an empty plastic bottle off the table in front of her and raising it to the sky.
"Challenge accepted!" Hiroto declared. "Race you to the court! Hurry Sho!"
"Yosh! Replied Shouyou scrambling after him.
"Hey! No fair!" Aiko protested. "C'mon Natsu lets go beat papa!"
Natsu responded in a barrage of excited babbles.
And that's how the story of Hinata Shouyou's volleyball career started, whipped up into the exhaustingly energetic pace of his mother and father and imbued with the passion of a true volleyball family and endless potential to grow.
