Winter - 25 (A/N: Presumably)

Rosenrot - 21

Weiss - 18

Whitley - 14 (A/N: Presumably)

Born after Winter and before Weiss, Rosenrot had a tough time as the middle child. Never quite knowing his place he began to be standoffish. In his solitude, he began to see everything in perspective. He saw how Winter wanted to walk away from the family name, he saw how depressed his mother began to be and he saw as Weiss began to see their family for what it was. Lastly, he saw his father for the man he truly was. His prejudice against Faunus, classism, and his overall disregard for his family.

Rosenrot had always been a stain on the family name, a red stain to be precise. Being born with scarlet red hair and brown eyes, Jacques had his suspicion against Willow's fidelity. The doctors assured him that it was a just recessive gene. Even with this assurance, Jacques had his suspicions and treated Willow and Rosenrot with hostility.

Having realized all of this he decided he wanted out as well. The only reason he didn't leave was Weiss. He didn't want to leave her to the dysfunction that is their parents' marriage. Eventually, he had to leave for the academy. Wanting to go abroad he asked Winter to help him apply to Signal Academy.

With her help he attended Signal. For the first time in a long time, he was able to relax. Forging his weapon was a plentiful experience. He opted for dust gauntlets he named Rosendorn, red in color, claws at the fingertips, extending to his elbows. Revolving cylinder for dust on his wrist for each mode.

When done with primary academy he returned to Atlas. Jacques gave him an earful for leaving so abruptly but Rosenrot just let him talk. When done he returned to his room to find it practically untouched. Seeing not a spec of dust he knew Klein had kept his room neat and tidy.

He made sure to avoid his father while at home and to stay with Weiss whenever things got difficult. Their younger brother, Whitley, was born while he was away. Already three years old the boy had her to meet his elder brother. Even when Jaques tried to keep them apart Rosenrot found away.

On the rarest occasion when they all had dinner together Jaques asked where he'll go for school. Rosenrot stated that he will go to Atlas, as Winter had. Everyone had a collective sigh of relief at the answer. Now with Whitley in the picture, he wasn't sure if he could leave without cost. His father was becoming more controlling by the day and a child as young as Whitley was impressionable.

When he attended and past the initiation, he was assigned to a team. His team members Garnet, Nemo, and Terrence. Together they were Team GRNT, they became fast friends and quickly became one of the best teams in Atlas. Garnet's semblance, Overgrow, allowed her to plant any seed and instantly grow it which came in hand in the harsh cold weather of Atlas. Nemo's semblance, Iron Hide, hardened his skin to near indestructible strength. Sirena semblance, Sonic Scream, raised her voice to supersonic frequencies.

Along with his glyphs, they were one of the most versatile teams at Atlas. Until they were given a mission on their final year to deal with a pack of Sabyrs. It was supposed to be a routine mission until it wasn't. They didn't account for different types of Grimm working together. The charge of Megoliaths split them up into two's, Garnet and Rosenrot, Nemo and Sirena.

He did everything he could to save Garnet but the Megoliath was far too strong. He saw her limp and broken body in the ground and immediately lost control. That was the first time he summoned anything. A blue and white King Taijitu appeared. When the Megoliath charged once more his summoning slithered out of the way before snapping its teeth into the Grimm. With a tight grip, it coiled around the Megoliath and squeezed. He took the opportunity to use ice dust to elongate his claws and slide under it. With all his strength he thrust his claws into the Grimms neck.

When the Grimm faded to smoke he rushed to Garnet but he was too late. When the others found them they stood in shock. When they returned they informed Ironwood of what happened. As their year ended they began to grow apart. Garnet was the glue that held them together and without her, they each took different paths in life.

After graduation, Nemo joined the Atlesian Army, Sirena became a regular Huntsman for hire and Rosenrot stayed home. They never spoke to each other since then. Rosenrot would think about asking Winter about Nemo but always relented.

Staying at home he would see Weiss off to Beacon Academy and try to get Whitley to open up, get Winter to visit more and get his mother to drop a wine glass every once in a while. Trying to keep an already broken family from falling apart is hard work. Jacques damaged them all in a way, he's thankful Weiss got away before he could completely get to her. He hid his damage better than others, sometimes he would leave every other week and hunt Grimm, collect them for his semblance, hone his skills and release some stress, or anger depending on how he feels.

Beowolves, Sabyrs, Nevermores, Teryxs and one Geist in its true form. He would find and kill whatever he found. Winter offered him to lit his skills to use as a Special Operative but he would always reject the offer. He got himself into a routine and didn't want to derail from it.

Just when he found himself in a comfortable pattern it was all ruined with the Fall of Beacon. His anxiety spiked at the thought of something happening to Weiss. He had a panic attack at the mere thought of it. His semblance activated on sheer instinct and a swarm of Nevermores wrecked the dining room.

When Weiss arrived via airship he engulfed her in a hug. He immediately noticed how she seemed closed off. Understandable, given that she went through a traumatic experience. He rarely ever saw her anymore.

With Weiss finally home he thought he could start gluing back to what they had before. But his father, as usual, would ruin it. Jaques would use his old nickname, Rot, as a way to tell him how he is the weak link in the family, how he needs to be removed. But what Jacques forgets is that rot spreads to all parts of the body and Rosenrot will make sure he remembers that.
