It's a quiet night, as Daina pulls a steady breath through her lungs and just rests amid the darkness. Alfred's hand holds hers tightly as they look up at the stars, letting the sky mark their smallness beneath it, leaving two people smitten with the world but most importantly with each other.

It's still as Daina chances a glance away from the pretty starlight and towards the man that somehow had caught her heart without even really been trying to. She admires the blueness of his eyes that seem to glow underneath starlight, beautiful, dainty things that with merely a glance makes one feel like she's floating on air even when on steady ground.

Daina's smile is soft and tender as she gazes upon him, looking nearly ethereal under the soft glow, green eyes subdued tenderly, brown hair faintly struck by light, and skin molding into the light dusk around them. Daina's breath holds.

"You know, I love you?" Alfred turns towards her, and while Daina can not imagine what he sees when he looks at her, his eyes speak of something positively glowing, a kind of beauty that goes deeper than the surface can dare hold. It's the kind of beauty that seems to pour out of him in waves tonight, one that the stars shine upon, and yet can't convey the inner depths of it.

Daina isn't sure how to even begin to answer his question, so she lets her answer be a rather indirect one, "I love you too."

It's the first time that the words have ever left her lips for him, just as it was the first time that he'd told her how he felt just mere moments before. Her heart bounces in her chest, with faint, bunny hopping motions, and she relaxes further by his side. It isn't a grand confession, but one that flows naturally and easily between the two of them.

Alfred goes silent, and with his eyes on her, Daina feels almost as if she is soaring far above them. He's looking at her, not merely as beautiful as the light casts on her, but as someone so beyond anything that words could capture. She is the woman that somehow holds his heart, without knowing the first moment that he gave it to her so readily.

The bright of the stars far outshine the dark of night, and Daina lets impulse guide her along for once, today. She leans forward, lets her toes find purchase to bring her closer to the man by her side, the very one who holds her hand firmly in his grasp. She leans up until her lips brush his, and though this is not the first time that she has ever kissed him, it resounds like a drum in her chest.

His lips are soft and feel like the pillars of buildings, something that steadies her and keeps her holding strong. His arms wrap around her waist, drawing her near, reminding her of the gentle, steady warmth that he seems to hold that keeps her afloat and keeps her warm when the night wants to draw coldness around them.

She is mesmerized as the night unfolds them and their kiss slowly crawls to it's close, and silence wraps them up once more in the night, as if each moment standing here truly unfolds to the next beautiful moment as stars light the way through quiet to a kind of steadfast joy that clings to them.
