So I've been wanting to write a KuroMaya fic for a while and this came to me after seeing a cute fanart of Maya cuddling Claudine. I hope you guys like it!
Claudine groaned and rolled over in her bed as rain pelted hard against her window. Usually she had no issue falling asleep when it rained, she honestly liked it. However, it was a whole different story when the rain was accompanied by loud booms of thunder and cracks of lightning. She turned over in her bed and looked over at her bedside clock, which read 12:36am.
Maybe I should make some tea, that should help. I'll have to be quiet so I don't wake anyone else up.
Claudine slipped out of her bed and slipped her feet into a pair of fuzzy pink slippers. She smoothed the wrinkles out of her cream-colored nightgown and quietly slipped out of her room, heading for the kitchen. She quickly made herself a cup of tea and was walking back to her room when she suddenly stopped and looked over at the door she was passing. Thunder roared outside and something inside Claudine urged her to go open the door, especially when she realized whose door she was standing in front of.
Letting her curiosity get the best of her, Claudine opened the door and slipped inside the dark room.
"Maya?" She said quietly, but the brunette was nowhere to be seen. Looking around the room Claudine noticed that the messy bed was empty and that the only light in the room was the moonlight and flashes of lighting coming from the window.. Claudine set her cup of tea down on Mayas desk and walked to the center of the room. "Maya?" She called out again, but the loud thunder masked any kind of response she may have gotten. She looked around the room once more before noticing that the closet door was slightly ajar.
Claudine walked over and opened the door. She was shocked to find the top star curled up in a ball on the floor of her closet, with small grey blanket wrapped tightly around her shoulders and her face pressed into her knees. Maya looked up at Claudine, tears streaming down her face, not sure what to make of the intrusion. Claudine stood frozen for a moment, as if she was waiting for Maya to pop up and tell her that it was all and act, but that didn't happen.
BOOM
The thunder was loud and rattled the walls. Maya let out a scream and flung herself onto her knees wrapping her arms around Claudine and pressing her face into the blondes stomach. Claudine, not ready for the sudden impact, wobbled for a moment but managed not to fall. She looked down at Maya and even with her eyes closed she could see how utterly terrified she was and Claudine was shocked to realize what was going on.
Maya was scared of thunder storms.
"Oh ma Maya." Claudine whispered, running a hand through Mayas hair. "You don't need to be scared anymore. Your Claudine is right here," She said comfortingly. Maya took a shakey breath and loosened her grip on Claudine so she could finally stand up.
"Please don't tell anyone." Maya said in a small voice clutching her fists clutching Claudines nightgown tightly.
"You vexing woman, as if I would ever tell anyone this!" Claudine said with a small smile. "Lets get out of her" She turned to walk out of the closet but Maya stayed rooted in her spot.
"I can't" Maya muttered. Her red, puffy eyes stayed glued to the floors she spoke, her fists trembling as they gripped the soft pink fabric. The top star was usually so composed and serious, always able to hide her emotions and stand tall no matter what, but in the face of a thunderstorm she looked small and emotional and Claudine didn't quite know how to react to that.
"Just close your eyes and I'll lead you to the bed," Maya gave a slight nod, wrapped her arms around Claudine and closed her eyes, allowing herself to be led out of the tiny space.
"You're not planning to leave me alone right?" Maya asked timidly, her eyes still shut tight.
"What do you think?" Claudine rolled her eyes, although Maya couldn't see, and pulled the two of them into the bed so they were facing away from the window. Claudine leaned back against the headboard and Maya instantly wrapped herself around the French girl, burying her head in the crook of her rivals neck just in time to hear a roar of thunder come from outside. The top star gripped Claudines nightgown in her fist and the blonde felt hot tears dripping to her shoulder.
Come stop your crying it will be alright
Just take my hand and hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don't you cry
Claudine nuzzled her head against Mayas and sang softly, her fingers running through her partners long dark locks. As she sang the second line, she placed her hand on top of Mayas and smiled as she unclenched her fist and let Claudine intertwine their hands.
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on, now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart
Always
As Claudine sang through the song Maya's tears began to subside, as did the storm outside. By the time she finished singing, the only thing they could hear outside was the rain hitting the window.
"Looks like the storm is over." Claudine sighed, untangling their hands and rubbing Mayas side.
"Don't go," Maya whispered. She sat up slightly, her face was pink and stained with tears but all Claudine could think was how beautiful she looked with the moonlight shining into the room. "I feel better with you here. I feel safer." Maya admitted shyly.
"I don't plan to go anywhere," Claudine assured. She adjusted herself so she was laying down and opened her arms toward Maya. The brunette instantly snuggled back into Claudine, her arms wrapping around her waist as her head found its place back in the crook of Claudines neck. "Why are you so scared of thunderstorms?" The question had been plaguing the blonde since she found Maya in the closet, and with the storm now over and Maya calm she figured it was ok to ask.
"I don't know," She admitted. "Ever since I can remember I've hated storms. My mom and dad would make up stories and things to try and make me less scared but they never worked. Usually I can get through them with just a blanket over my head and a pillow in my arms, but the storm tonight was really bad. The thunder was so loud and the lightning was so bright and close," Claudine felt Mayas arms tighten around her. "I'll be ok though, as long as you're here."
"Good thing I don't plan to go anywhere." Claudine whispered and Maya looked up at her for a moment before giving her partner a soft kiss on the lips before snuggling back into her neck.
"Je t'aime ma Claudine" Maya breathed out.
Claudine smiled at the words and waited until she felt Mayas breath even out before replying
"Je t'aime aussi ma Maya,"
