DRABBLE Set in Fourth Year. Little did anyone know, but Draco had wanted to turn to the light as early as fourth year, and wanted to enlist a certain Gryffindor to help him.
Another Time
Draco Malfoy was resolved. He would forge an alliance with the light and betray his family. To do this, he knew he needed the trust of the Golden Trio.
He had a cunning plan to get her attention, to get the worlds attention.
He would start, by asking Hermione Granger to the Yule Ball.
Draco huffed his way out of Potions, barging past his classmates and calling out, 'Granger, Hey - Granger!'
Granger paused, turning tiredly, raising a brow in exhaustion rather than curiosity.
At that second, Pansy Parkinson in a whirlwind of ruin and giggles, flew at him. 'Oh Draco, Mother has confirmed it, you shall accompany me to the Yule Ball!'
He scowled, brow wrinkling and lips tightening, eyeing Granger.
For what it was worth, Granger looked wearily amused at his obvious discomfort.
He snapped at the girl who had attached herself to his arm. 'Pansy, stop being such a leech. If I'd wanted to ask you, you'd know about it.' He twisted his arm and shook his head, loosening his normally immaculate hair and nodding at Pansy to leave, giving her one of his patented looks of absolute boredom.
He turned to Granger, and she gave him a look of understanding. There was no pity in her gaze, no softness, but her eyes glinted with the unspoken words of a kindred soul.
The bell rang overhead, they were late for their next class.
Draco shook his head ruefully, 'Never mind,' he muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets and starting to move.
Granger started to turn as well, but as she did, he heard a voice, tentative and croaking, 'Draco.'
He met her eyes, hard and open.
'Maybe Another time.'
