Pikachu opened his eyes. The room he was in was white. A bright light was placed on the ceiling above him and the mouse Pokemon had to fight off a squint. The loud beeping sound to his left alerted him. He looked over and saw he was connected to a heart rate monitor, panic surged through his veins. What the hell happened?

He searched through his memories and found nothing related to where he was. Defeated, he sank back into the bed. He was in a Pokècentre, obviously. He heard shouting from the other side of the door.

"I don't care about your reason, Paul! You never use a super effective one-hit KO move on a Pokémon!" That was Ash, Pikachu could recognise that voice from anywhere. "You're lucky I didn't sic Charizard on you."

Ash was dead serious. The only time he had threatened to release Charizard on someone was when they met Damian again. Pikachu chuckled at the memory of Damian shitting bricks. The door opened.

Ash walked through, he was very clearly tired and his eyes were red. Pikachu noticed that he seemed shocked upon seeing him.

"You heard that, huh?" He asked, getting closer to the bed. The Pokémon trainer sat down at the edge of the bed and glanced at Pikachu.

"Do you remember what happened?" Pikachu shook his head. Ash sighed.

"You were fighting Paul's Gastrodon. For some reason, he had the ingenious plan of using fissure. His excuse is that he wanted to 'test it out'. What a shit reason..."

Pikachu had to agree with him on that. Did he not know the serious damage he could cause?

"How long was I out?" The mouse Pokémon asked, worrying about the answer.

"Six months. We missed the league."

That was not what he wanted to hear. He felt tears build up in his eyes. Ash had missed the league because of him.

"Hey, don't blame yourself, Pikachu. Blame Paul if you want to blame anyone." Ash soothed, rubbing his hand across Pikachu's head. The electric type ripped out his wires in favour of melting into his trainer's side.

"Pikachu, don't worry about it. We'd of lost anyway."

That worried Pikachu. Normally Ash would never admit defeat before a fight.

"How can you be so sure?"

Ash laughed. "The bastard had legendary Pokémon."

"So? We've beaten legendary's before."

"Not that it isn't impressive that we have, but do you rank the Regitrio on the same level as a Darkrai. No one could beat that thing. It was a monster."

Pikachu sighed again.

"What now?"

"Well, buddy, you recover. I'll get Nurse Joy and tell her you're awake, ok?"

Sure is, PikaPi, sure is..." Pikachu mumbled, sleep overcoming him like a switch. The mouse slowly slid down Ash's side before resting his head on the bed.

"Sleep well, buddy." Ash croaked, his hand sliding down his partner's body."Goodbye."

Pikachu stopped breathing. Before he knew it Nurse Joy walked in, resting her hand on his shoulder, pulling him into a sideways hug.

"You did good, Ash. You made sure he went out peacefully."

Ash cried into the nurse's shoulder.
