Harry's PoV:

Harry Potter was cold and miserable.

Granted, this wasn't anything new to the almost 8-year-old boy. His aunt and uncle seemed to enjoy making his life as unhappy as possible. But right now he was freezing, uncomfortable, and...lost?

His Uncle Vernon had recently got a promotion at his job at Grunings, and as a celebratory custom, had been given a weeklong vacation at a luxurious cabin in the woods. Normally, Harry wasn't allowed to go on these trips. However, his usual caretaker, Mrs. Figg, was sick, and the Dursleys didn't trust him enough to leave him at the house. So he was reluctantly taken along.

That did not mean he was allowed to enjoy the luxury of the trip however. As soon as all the gear had been loaded into the cabin, Vernon had kicked him out, telling him to only return at sundown, as his uncle didn't want his freakishness to ruin any of the fun activities for the family.

At first, Harry had been ecstatic. He had some time to himself, away from the Dursleys. But as the day pressed on, he found himself doing nothing but wandering. The forest had lost his interest a while ago, and he hadn't seen any animals at all. It was as if the world was mocking him for wanting to enjoy himself for once.

Harry stumbled over another large root, snapping him back into the present. The sun was still high up in the sky, its light piercing through the thick canopy of trees in bright beams. There was a surprising lack of plants on the ground, which Harry was thankful for. He would rather not deal with itchy legs and scratched up arms. He could hear some running water nearby, and decided to head in that direction. He was getting rather thirsty, and his uncle hadn't given him any food or water before kicking him out.

Suddenly, a short hoot pierced the relative silence of the woods, startling the young boy. Looking up, he saw a gorgeous white owl sitting in the trees. He stared at the bird for a moment, confused as to why it was out in the daytime. The owl turned, and with a few quick flaps, flew in the direction of the water noises. He took off after the bird; seeing as it was the only animal he had seen in the woods, he didn't want to lose sight of it.

Unfortunately, he forgot to watch his steps as he chased the bird, and ended up falling into a gully, splashing into the wide stream at the bottom. The pain from the fall, along with the shock of the cold water, caused Harry to freeze. By the time he recovered, and looked up, the owl was long gone.

He crawled out of the stream, now chilled to the bones, and rested on the gravel shore.

He never thought he would say this, but Harry wished he had stayed at Mrs. Figg's place, even if she was sick. He would rather risk getting sick, and looking through the dusty cat photo albums, than be soaked, cold, and lost in the middle of the woods.

Harry absentmindedly reached down and picked up one of the small stones scattered along the beach. He looked at it, before lightly tossing it into the stream. As he watched the rock get carried away by the current, he imagined that he was the rock, being carried away from all his problems. His relatives; his cramped cupboard; even his freakishness, lost behind him. As it was, he was stuck, with no relief in sight. He picked up another rock, but just as he made to toss it, something caught his eye.

A soft glow was shining up through the water near where the first rock landed, and was slowly growing brighter. Harry, as curious as he was cold, slowly made his way to the edge of the bank, and reached into the stream. Immediately, he began to shiver, but he was determined to retrieve whatever was making the light.

He felt around the bottom of the stream until his hand bumped something that seemed out of place. With a little assistance from the flowing water, he eventually dug out enough gravel to see the source of the light. Through the water, Harry could see a bright blue rock jutting out of the sandy bottom of the streambed. He tried to grip onto the rock, only for his fingers to slide off its smooth surface. After a few more blind attempts, he looked closer, and moved to feel around the rock. The rock, from what he could tell, had multiple smooth sides, coming together in a point like a die. He tried to pull on the rock, but it didn't budge, even when he found a good place to grip it. Now his hands were getting numb, and his shivering had gotten worse . Still, he wasn't deterred. Taking hold of the rock with both hands, he gave it one more strong tug.

With a loud squelch and a shower of wet sand, the rock suddenly popped out of the ground, sending Harry falling onto his back. The rocks hurt upon landing on them, causing Harry to grimace.

Recovering from his fall, he sat upright, propping himself on his arm. After looking himself over, he took a deep breath and sighed. He didn't seem to have any more injuries.

He looked at the rock, surprised that he hadn't dropped it in the fall. Now that he could look closer, he realized it wasn't a rock at all, but more like some kind of crystal. Its shape was too clean, like an eight sided die with four missing corners. Along its surface were patterns that reminded Harry of the green electronic pieces found in Dudley's fancier toys. But unlike those pieces, the crystal shone with a cool blue glow. All in all, it looked unnatural. Almost… otherworldly.

His observing of the crystal was put to a halt when he felt a strange tingling sensation in his arms, slowly crawling up to his fingers. He didn't quite know what to make of the feeling, but it was nice to be able to somewhat feel the glassy texture of the crystal in his hands.

Then the pain kicked in.

Instantly, Harry doubled over, the searing pain being too much to bear. He cried in pain, thankful that he was alone. Subconsciously, he clenched the crystal in his hands tighter, almost as if he were giving it his willpower. Slowly the pain ebbed away enough for him to open his eyes and look at his arms, only to have his attention stolen by the crystal once more.

It had changed color from blue to pure white, and was shining so bright he had to squint his eyes. A bright blue cloud was spreading from the crystal's surface, with brighter sparks shooting out as well. The sound of a roaring wind surrounded it all. Harry was too scared to move. He was almost sure that his freakishness was the cause of this. His uncle would be super angry at him when he found out what he had done.

Suddenly, the crystal floated out of his hands, breaking Harry's train of thought. It hovered for a moment, before releasing a large cloud of glowing white particles. The cloud grew rapidly, engulfing the area in light and obscuring Harry's vision. Silence overcame the area scaring him even more, until a loud chime rang through, the clouds parting just enough for him to see a bright blue dreamcatcher symbol on a grey background, before the clouds parted in a final wave of light.

? PoV:

Was it time to wake up already?

*Sigh* Can't I just have, like, three more hours of sleep?

The tingling sensation of materializing, along with landing on the rugged ground, gave me the firm impression of a no.

Drat.

After a yawn and a stretch, I reluctantly tried opening my eyes, only to slam them shut from the bright light. Putting a hand over my face as a shield, I opened my eyes once more. At first, my vision was filled with bright, shapeless blobs. But slowly, my vision focused until I could see the forest around me, painted in many shades of green and yellow. I looked around me, trying to gain my bearings, when I spotted a little black haired boy sitting on the gravel, a shocked expression on his face. Lowering my hand, I looked around once more, seeing no other living creatures. Seemed as though the little boy was my new driver.

Turning back to the boy, I took note of a few things. For one, he was exceptionally small and skinny. Was he fed properly? If not, then that could be a problem. How would he be able to wield my weapon without any strength?

Another detail I noted was the scar above the boy's right eye. Looking at it sent small shivers down my spine, as if I was some sort of grave insult to its existence. The feeling only lasted for a moment, but was enough to make me wary for my bond with my driver.

The last thing of significance to me was the boy's eyes. Those orbs were a stunning Emerald color that almost seemed to glow with their intensity, allowing me to forget about that horrid scar. However, their brilliance was dampened by the somewhat tired look they had. He probably needed more sleep as well, something I could get behind. Just looking into the boy's eyes was enough to start lulling me back to sleep.

Wait, how long had I been staring at him?

With a jolt, I stood more upright. I couldn't go to sleep just yet. Judging by the boy's stricken expression, he had no Idea what was going on.

Joy, another thing to take up my valuable sleep time. Even so, I couldn't just leave him in the dark; I was his blade, and he was my driver. And he needed to know what exactly that meant.

I looked him dead in the eye with all the seriousness I could muster.

"My name *yawn* is Kamagotchi"

*Sigh* So much for being serious. Still, The boy looked less shocked and more curious, a win in my book. Now would probably be a good time to show the other part of me.

Taking a few steps back, I held my hands up like I was holding a rifle and concentrated, feeling the dark ether around me bend and mold to form my weapon. The boxy shape manifested smoothly in my hands, and I barely felt it shift in my arms when gravity finally took hold.

Thinking quickly, I began to spin around, twirling my weapon in my arms, causing it to extend to a longer, more weighted form. Finally, my weapon shifted entirely, revealing a long blade that I buried into the ground, showing the full extent of my weapon; the variable scythe, Dreamless Sleep.

The sun shone brightly through the trees, reflecting off the deep purple of my weapon's casing, and highlighting the bright blue dreamcatcher symbols littered across its form. Glancing over at the boy, it seemed my impromptu act worked. The boy's shock seemed to be gone, replaced with a confused awe. Taking this as a sign to continue, I decided to get a little risky. Shifting my hand ever so slightly, I felt a little trigger on the shaft and pulled it.

With a loud *Shoom*, a blast of dark ether shot from the end of the scythe, hitting a nearby boulder, causing it to shatter into pieces. Lifting the blade out of the ground, I shifted my weapon into its rifle configuration, and, adopting a kneeling position, fired multiple shots into the woods in the background. The sounds of trees crashing to the ground filled the air. Satisfied with my weapons performance, I spun it around one more time, shifting it into its scythe mode, and buried it once more. I then leaned onto the shaft, worn out from my act.

*yawn* "Allow me to grace your future dreams."

What? How? Why?

Harry had so many questions.

Who was this person? No, wait, she (Harry thought her voice sounded very feminine) said her name was Kama… Kama… shoot, he forgot her name already. Still, she had a name. But where did she come from? Why did she look so young? Why did she seem so tired? Did the crystal bring her here? Where did the crystal go? Was SHE the crystal!? What was with the machine she created? How did that appear? He saw how powerful it was, but how did it work? How did this happen anyway? Was it his freakishness? Was it something else?

He was snapped out of his musing when the person spoke again.

"So *yawn* what's your name?"

Harry paused for a moment, looking at the person, only now able to really take in her physical appearance. She looked older than him, and certainly taller than him. She was probably taller than Dudley too. She reminded him of some of the older girls at his school, maybe 12 or so? It was a wonder she could spin that contraption of hers so easily.

Though Harry had to admit, she looked as though she was dressed to be comfortable doing anything. Her grey top seemed a little oversized on her frame, seemingly held in place by the large, deep purple bathrobe she wore over it. Her plum colored sleep trousers reached down to her ankles, nearly covering her… slippers? Why was this person dressed to go to bed? The sun was still fairly high in the sky.

Then again, she did look like she just got out of bed. Her short, silver hair was fashionably messy, which reminded Harry of his own nest up top. Her cheeks were slightly droopy, framing her small mouth and nose, as well as highlighting the dark bags under her abnormally large eyes. Her half closed eyes partially covered the dull pink of her irises, giving the impression that the girl was really tired.

The thing that stood out the most to Harry, however, was the bright blue dreamcatcher symbol that rested between the girl's collarbones, held in place by a tight necklace. It contrasted with the rest of her looks, especially her eyes, giving off an energy that the girl seemed to be missing.

It was then that Harry realized that he hadn't answered the girl's question. What was it again? Oh, right, she had asked for his name! Flustered, he blurted out "H-Harry." He lowered his head, trying to avoid the girl's gaze. She was probably angry at him for not responding immediately to her question, and was probably just about to-

"Harry. That's a nice name."

Harry's mind went blank as he looked at the girl once more. She hadn't moved at all, but instead seemed to ponder something. A faint smile appeared for a moment, before she turned to face Harry once more. "Well then, *yawn* Harry…" She said as she stood up and pulled the machine out of the ground, folding it up into its compact form. "Now that we've introduced ourselves, *yawn* we should get some rest. You seem exhausted from awakening me." She laid down on the sand, using her contraption as a pillow, and closed her eyes.

That last sentence caught Harry's attention. What did the girl mean by 'awakened her'? She seemed super calm about the ordeal. Was this normal for her?

Harry wanted to ask the strange girl a lot of questions, but held himself back. She seemed really tired, and he didn't want to disturb her, else she lash out at him. Eventually however, his curiosity got the better of him.

"Um, e-excuse me miss… um..."

"Kamagotchi."

Harry flinched, expecting to be hit, but nothing came. He looked back at the girl, seeing that she hadn't moved from her spot, her face in a neutral position. Taking this as a good sign, He continued. "Ok. um, What do you mean by 'awakened you'?"

The girl opened her eyes slightly, looking up at Harry. With a sigh, she started to explain.

"I mean *yawn* that you awakened me from my dormant state. I was asleep, and now I'm awake, in a sense. If it weren't for you, I would still be stuck as a core crystal. *yawn* But now you've awakened me, and as your blade, it is my duty to help you in any endeavor from here on out, until death do us apart. This is my promise to you, my driver."

Hearing this, Harry's brain cranked harder than ever. So this girl (Kamagotchi, he remembered) really was the crystal?! That explained where she came from. But what was that about blades and drivers, and the 'untll death do us apart' thing. When he finaly could speak, he asked the most intelegent question he could in that moment.

"What?"

Kamagotchi sighed deeply, before sitting up and turning to face him. Her eyes steeled with resolve as she patted the ground in front of her, saying "Have a seat, this is going to take a while to explain."

Author's Note: Hey, I hope everyone is doing Ok during these hard times. This story has been been fluttering around in my head sense Alias001 gave me the initial idea. I owe them a lot for all the help in giving so many ideas for this story.

I hope to update next month.
