Unexpected Love in Unexpected Places

Not in a million years did Amelia think that Trudy Platt would call her. I mean, that woman was tough as nails, never really asking for help, but today was the day it happened. Amelia was just listening to her IPOD, jamming to some Eminem.

That's how it goes dancing around enjoying your morning, and the phone rings. At least it wasn't during a shower. Amelia smirked, that would have been awful.

Answering the phone with the curiosity, "Morning Trudy, what up's?"

"Hey Kid, not much, I need you to come down to the district, I uhh… need your help" Trudy stated.

How curious. "OK, I can be there in less than an hour, do I need to bring anything?" she questioned the older lady.

"Just some of your computer gear, we are having some computer issues that require your genius!"

"Oh, now you're just sweet talking, I'm afraid." Amelia jokes. "No worries Trudy, I'll be there, geek gear and all!"

"Thanks sweetie, umm see you in a bit." With that Trudy disconnected the call. Interesting, woman Ameila thought to herself.

They met about 6 months ago, at one of those Police Woman conferences, Amelia was a guest speaker. Not being a law enforcement person herself, but when you're a genius graduating CalTech at 16 in computer sciences, programming, and everything else computer related, you were sought after for your advice in computer tech, and law enforcement always could use new techniques for those computer savvy criminals. Plus she liked to do it, help. She was always told what to do by her parents, they rode her coat tails because of her genius, so helping out cops when she could was just her way of taking back a piece of her life from her parents.

During the conference Trudy was there, with her smart ass comments, and Amelia felt relief with her, strangely enough. Most of her life, people always deferred to her without question because of "genius", not Platt. She straight questioned until Amelia just had to smile, she wasn't bowing to her expertise, or the fact that she was a genius, Trudy frankly didn't give a crap about who, she wanted to know what.

After her talk and going into the meet and greet, Platt introduced herself, and explained her position in the C.P.D., after some awkward start to the conversation, it became a relatively smooth conversation, and eventually turned into a friendship. One that Amelia loved dearly. She never really had a normal childhood, and according to her parents, friends were a waste of time, when she could be spending her time learning, getting published.

After a quick shower, and getting clothes on Amelia was packing her stuff, she was out the door heading to District 21.

I wonder what Trudy needs from me, it's not like they don't have a computer guy on the force. Probably something boring, but hey, a friend needs my help, I'm here.

Parking on the side of the Police station, Amelia locked her car, and started into the famous District 21.

Looking around, Amelia saw the hustle and bustle of an active police station. It was an awesome sight to see.

"Patrolman, I don't care, if you got the sniffles, get your act together, and get back out on patrol."

Trudy, man, you could scare the crap out of anyone. Amelia mused.

"Morning Sarge, reporting for my civic duty Ma'am!" she solutied.

"Smart ass. OK, Jones, you watch the Desk, I'm taking our guest to Intelligence, and don't screw up my desk, got it?" Trudy snapped.

"Come on kid, you are needed upstairs, they have an issue and only you my dear can fix it." With that Trudy made a motion to follow her.

Keeping up, Amelia just watched her friend, she seemed nervous, but that can't be. Trudy is a badass.

Finally reaching the top of the steps, Amelia looked around and there were 7 people talking, loudly, and they all just stopped and looked at her.

Feeling like an animal on display at the zoo. Amelia shifted uncomfortably. I hate people staring, OK, so we have a tall russian like guy, some shaft looking man, rico suave, old guy with a golf hat, two halves of Charlie's Angels, and the Alpha Male dead center. Awesome she thought, Maybe I need to show him how to use his smartphone.

"Stop staring at her like a zoo animal, geez like you've never seen a pretty girl before!" Trudy snapped to the tall blonde guy.

Laughing nervously, "Sorry, I'm Adam Ruzek." he said extending his hand.

Slowly taking his hand, "Amelia Williams, pleasure."

They went around introducing the Intelligence team. Kevin Atwater tall, gorgeous seemed sweet and funny, Kim Burgess seems nice, but kinda stuck up. Hailey Upton gave off that badass real cop vibe, Jay Halstead a little righteous but good man. Alvin Olinsky knows more than he lets on, but don't mess with him. Adam Ruzek typical bad boy look, but deep down a decent guy. Antonio Dawson could probably swoon the pants off a lady but could tell he is an honorable man. Finally Hank Voight, his voice alone made her insides squirm, he was a man that you knew the dark shit, you could feel he was not one to mess with ever.

Hank was not a man that usually got taken by surprise. Being a cop for over 20 years, you don't get surprised by things or people anymore, but here he was, looking at the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She was barely 5 foot tall, her long blonde hair in a long ponytail, porcelain white skin, ample breasts, and from what he could tell a great ass.

Man he wanted her, it has been a long time since he wanted a woman. After the loss of his wife over 4 years ago, Hank just focused on work to keep him occupied, but she comes walking in with her cute yellow sundress and glasses, making it hard not to just throw her over his shoulder and claim her as his.

"So, Trudy here, tells me that you're a computer goddess" Hanks gravelly voice spoke.

Blushing a little bit for the goddess compliment from Trudy, and his voice, "Yea, something like that, if it has any electronics or electricity, I own it, what can I help you with Sgt. Voight?" she asked.

"Call me Hank" he stated, "I need you to hack into this cell phone, our TARU team can't do it, and I need to get in there to find this son of bitch before he kills someone else."

Slowly looking away from Sgt. Voight and finding Trudy, "Ummm, I'm guessing no warrant or you would have had the phone company open it, am I right?"

Trudy just shrugged her shoulders, "I thought I mentioned that, must have slipped my mind" looking down, obviously wondering if Amelia was going to freak out.

Laughing nervously, "No pressure Platt, no pressure, You and I are going to have a long discussion later about communication, while you pay for dinner, deal?", Amelia knew that her friend wouldn't have put her up to this unless it was important. In their short friendship, it was clear that Platt loved her job, and would do anything to protect her city.

The others were watching the newcomer with interest, it was her banter with Platt that was the shocker, most of them knew not to question her or even joke.

Taking a much needed deep breath, "OK, Hank, right, phone please."

Hank smiled at her, reaching into his pocket to hand her the device. She's got some guts, he thought to himself.

Taking the phone, Amelia opened her little backpack and took out her tablet and some cables. She started to make herself comfortable at the first desk to her right.

Jay started to crowd her, very curious to see how this little woman was going to break into a cartel phone.

"Jay?", Amelia asked. "Uh yea", he muttered. "I usually require a drink before I let a guy breath down my neck." she laughed as she looked up into his blue eyes.

Not one to be taken off guard, "Sorry, I just never knew anyone could break this type of encryption."

Most of the unit laughed a bit at her brazen observation about Halstead. Voight on the other hand, took all of his self control not to put Jay down on the ground for making her uncomfortable. But the mention of her requiring a drink from a man, set another wave of jealous rage through his blood. I need to get myself under control or I'm going to make myself look like a deranged animal.

Amelia looked over at Voight, and could see a vein popping out of his neck, almost like he was trying to keep himself calm. OK, no more talking get this phone open, and leave, I think I'm pissing off Alpha Man.

Focusing back on the work, she opened her program, named "Jimmie" cause you know ironic names make her smile. Plugging her tablet into the phone, it took another 10mintues, but soon enough the program opened the phone, and now Intelligence had access to finding the big bad at the other end.

"Alright, there you go, full access to the phone, should be able to have your tech team triangulate the calls to find your guy/gal." Amelia stated. Trying to get out of Halsteads chair and put her stuff away as quickly as possible.

"I knew you could do it, you know if you put a little more effort Melia, you could take over the world," Trudy said, coming up to pat her on the back.

"O, you know me Platt, being an evil genius, so cliche, I'd rather just hack for sport not for gain!"

Jay was the first to speak to her. "Yo, like seriously you just took down a cartel encryption in like what 10 minutes, can we keep you?"

"I hate to agree with Jay, but he's right, you are amazing," Antonio spoke to her the first time.

Blushing at the comments, Amelia just smiled and started to look around the unit. It was nice to help find a bad guy, but on her own terms not some agency.

"Thanks, I am just glad to help, but seriously, if Trudy vouches for you, I'll help out whenever I can." Amelia felt good. Except for the fact that Sgt. Voight looked like he was about to snap. I have no idea what I pissed you off, but I promise I'm leaving.

Voight noticed she was fidgeting and looking like a deer in the headlights. It finally hit him, he was making her nervous. Do I make you nervous, beautiful? I wonder how nervous I make you. Just wanting to see if his intuition is right, she's attracted to him.

Reaching into his pocket, Hank pulled out one of his business cards, "Here darling, if you ever need anything, I got you", slowly putting it into her hands, he brushed his fingers into hers. Just as he thought, she was blushing, and tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "Umm, thanks Sarg, Hank. Thank you Hank." she was able to sputter out.

With a quick goodbye to the rest of the unit, Amelia, followed Trudy out of the police station.

"So, I'm sorry for not being completely honest with you Mel, I just knew that if you said no, we wouldn't have gotten into the phone when we needed, and someone else could have gotten hurt."

"Look, Trudy, I know you didn't want to put me in a weird spot, I understand why. You're a cop, the person is a bad guy, protected by some cellphone client privilege. You knew a way around it, you used it. No harm in that. But please going forward tell me what's up, I'll always back you as long as YOU think it's right, not Voight or the rest of intelligence, you. I know you wouldn't put me in a position that would be against my moral code." Amelia stared at Trudy. She wanted to make sure that the desk Sgt. understood that she trusted her judgement.

"I will kid, if C.P.D, needs you again, full disclosure, promise." she stated matter of factly.

"Good, now, dinner, with Mouch? He on duty?" Laughing Trudy smiled, "Actually he's off shift until tomorrow, Charlies steak house tonight, 7, my treat." Trudy offered.

"Deal" Amelia smiled at Platt, and said her goodbyes.
