Chapter 1

Out on the horizon, the sun was rising over a gorge. A beautiful dragon was standing on top of the gorge. She had light-blue eyes, white fur, black feathers on top of her head, black fur along her neck, back, and tail with a black tuft of fur at the end of her tail. She has light-gray stripes on her neck, back, and tail as well. She also has black feathered wings. Her name is Moonrise Ulric. Daughter to Nyx and Nova Ulric. She also happens to be in love with Ignis Scientia.

Speaking of Ignis Scientia, he is standing next to her, feeling the sun on his face. A year ago, he lost his vision due to using the Ring of the Lucii to save Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum. Though he failed to prevent Noctis from sacrificing his life to save theirs, he was glad that he didn't lose the one he loves.

"Are you ready?" Ignis asked Moonrise in a low voice.

"Yes." Moonrise replied back.

Ignis hopped onto her back and Moonrise dove off the gorge. She spread open her wings and flew through the gorge. She flew over a small lake. She looked down at her reflection and she laughed. She gracefully twirled upwards, out of the gorge, enjoying the day.

But she had to stop abruptly because she saw an Imperial Fleet headed their way. Letting Ignis know what's ahead of them, they flew into battle. They blasted, slashed, and destroyed the fleet in minutes. Soon the fleet exploded and started to fall to the ground. With that out of the way, they headed back home to Insomnia.

They arrived in Insomnia. For almost a year, Imperial Fleets have been coming to Insomnia but Moonrise and Ignis destroy them before they could reach the Crown City. Without the Crystal, the city was defenseless and vulnerable. Moonrise had only one part of the Crystal that was given from her mother, Nova. She kept it in the same place where the old Crystal was held. Every day she helped it grow so it would have enough power to create the Crystal Wall.

"Insomnia sure is busy today." Moonrise said as she looked down at the busy streets.

"Indeed. I'm assuming they heard that you are going to have a peace treaty with Niflheim today?" Ignis said.

"Oh, don't remind me. Remember what happened last time? What if it happens again?" Moonrise said worriedly.

"You'll be fine, my love. You have nothing to worry about." Ignis comforted her.

They headed towards the Citadel. Cor Leonis, a former Crownsguard member and still is, is walking down the steps of the Citadel. He looked up when he heard a shrill roar. He saw Moonrise land. Ignis hopped off and Moonrise transformed back into a human. As a human, Moonrise has black hair that is into a braid, has bright eyes, fair skin, and always has a soft bright smile. Course Moonrise is dragonborn so she still has dragon features even as a human. She has small gray horns that glint in the sunlight, strong sleek feathered black wings, black fur along her back and tail which she always keeps curled around her feet. She wears a dark red dress with shoulders showing, her back open for her wings, and the dress goes down slightly above her knees. She wears white strapped heeled shoes.

"You're late." Cor said to her. "The new leader of Niflheim and his Crownsguard are already inside."

"I'm sorry Cor. I promise I'll be here on time the next time." Moonrise said to him and she quickly ran up the stairs to the Citadel.

"Apologies Cor. Moonrise and I spotted an Imperial Fleet headed our way. But we destroyed it before it could get here." Ignis said.

"Thank you Ignis. Hopefully if this peace treaty goes well... We wouldn't have any fleets to destroy." Cor said.

Inside the Citadel, Moonrise is sitting on her throne. She is wearing a plain black dress with a golden sash around her waist. She wore black heels. Her hair was no longer in a braid but now lying flat against her back. She wore golden earrings and a necklace. Beside her are Ignis Scientia, Gladiolus Amicitia, and Prompto Argentum who are sitting in the seats of the Crownsguard. They are wearing their Crownsguard outfits. On the other side is Cor Leonis. Moonrise signaled the doors of the throne room to open and in came the new leader of Niflheim and his two Crownsguard members.

"Hello, Your Highness." the new leader said to her.

"Good day to you, Norris. How was your travel?" Moonrise asked him.

"Oh, my travel was splendid. Loved the scenery." Norris said sarcastically.

"I'm sure it was. Would you mind introducing your new Crownsguard?" Moonrise asked Norris.

"Of course. To my right is Nork. He is a great fighter and can analyze a battle in seconds." Norris said.

"To my right is Luxes. He is the smartest and the most persuasive person." Norris said proudly.

"Wonderful. I bet they're very helpful in battle." Moonrise said.

"Yes they are. Now would you return the favor?" Norris said.

"Of course." Moonrise said. She turned to her three Crownsguard members.

"Here we have Ignis Scientia. He is the smartest person. He can analyze a battlefield and can think of a plan in seconds. He is very skillful in battle." she said.

"We have Gladiolus Amicitia. He is my future Shield. He will protect me and his fellow Crownsguard members with his life. He keeps everyone on their feet and makes sure everyone is in focus."

"And last but not least, we have Prompto Argentum. He is very skilled in far distant attacks, makes sure everyone is doing alright, and will be there for you no matter what." she finished off.

"You have very skillful members, Your Highness. I must say, I'm impressed. But I must ask, if you are to be the future Queen, who will be the future King?" he asked.

Moonrise grew tense. She tightened her grip on the armchairs of the throne. No one knew that she and Ignis were together except Gladiolus, Prompto, and Cor.

She didn't know if non royal blood can rule. Then again, she wasn't royal blood herself. Noctis chose her to be the next Queen for he saw that she was worthy enough to rule.

"If you have no one as future King, then would it be alright if I were to be your King." Norris said.

Ignis grew tense. He is not liking where this is going. But he knows Moonrise. She would never let another man love her as much as he loves Moonrise.

"No. Forgive me Norris but we can't. Even if it means our kingdoms will be at peace, we just can't get to that point at the moment." Moonrise said with authority.

"Yes. Of course. I understand." Norris said. Now, shall we sign our treaty?"

As Moonrise was signing her name on the treaty, Norris was analyzing her.

"I must say, you look familiar." he said.

Moonrise stopped mid-signing and looked up. "What do you mean?" she asked.

"It's like I've seen you before," he said.

"Norris. You do realize we've just met." Moonrise said.

"Oh I know that. But I think I've seen an illustration of you before or something similar." Norris said.

Moonrise looked at him with confusion.

Norris saw the look on her face and continued. "Have you ever heard of any myths or legends, Your Highness?" he asked.

"No. I don't think so?" Moonrise said as she finished up signing the treaty.

"Well the legend says that far from Lucis are two ancient cities. They stood there even before Solheim. They say that it was ruled by creatures with wings. I'm assuming creatures like you." Norris said.

"Are you saying that there used to be more like me. In a city where I should have grown up in?" Moonrise said. She was now realizing what her mother has been hiding from her.

"Yes, to be in fact. But after the events of Solheim, no one has ever mentioned it. It was completely forgotten." Norris said.

"I see." Moonrise said.

"Wasn't your mother one as well? She was very famous when she first arrived in Lucis." Norris said.

"Yes, she was." Moonrise said.

"Well, you can ask her about the legend." Norris said.

"I can't. She died 22 years ago." Moonrise said, her wings drooping a little.

"Oh. I'm terribly sorry. Well, it's been an honor to be at peace with you, Your Highness. I hope we can work together soon." Norris said. He and his Crownsguard escorted themselves out of the Citadel.
