"Kon'nichiwa, kitataiheiyō kaitō kōen to rizōto e yōkoso! Tsuā-chū wa, kanera ya geitaidenwa no furasshu o ofu ni shi, gurasu o tatai tari tatai tari sezu ni, akaei, inufisshu, kabutogani ni fureru zengo ni te o aratte kudasai. Go kyōryoku arigatōgozaimasu. Go taizai o o tanoshimi kudasai!"
"Hello, and welcome to the North Pacific Marine Park and Resort! While on your tour, please remember to turn off the flash on your cellphones and cameras, not tap or hit the glass, and wash your hands before and after touching the specimens in the petting pools. Thank you for your cooperation, and we hope you enjoy your stay!"
"Wow... Had I known you've been planning a surprise trip to Japan, Barnes, perhaps I would've paid more attention in my Japanese immersion class..."
Duncan and his gym teacher, 'Blitz' Barnes, stood in front of an immense pane of glass and watched as a Whale Shark collided with a Manta Ray. A light smile came to the silverette's face- a rare sight these days.
"Sugoi..."
"Tashikani," a deep, smooth voice concurred, and they turned to see a man around Blitz's age standing behind them with his arms crossed. He was wearing a maroon T- shirt underneath a red 'leather jacket', black skinny jeans, black combat boots, a pair of black Wiley X Guard, and had red hair with white frosted tips styled in a spiky quiff. Duncan could sense tension of a sort in the air and took this as his cue to leave, nodded, and scurried off to find Kenny, Isabel, and Doctor Patel as Blitz put his palms together and bowed down at the waist to greet the newcomer, "Nihongo ga hanasemasu. Berrokko-san kura wa nani mo kitai dekimasen..."
The Kaiju waved a hand dismissively, "Seishikina mono wa hitsuyōna i, bānzu."
"Shall we go for a walk, then?," Blitz inquired in English and held out his right hand. "Perhaps find a place that's a little more-"
His blue eyes lit up mischievously, "- quiet?"
"Shh! We don't want the others catching wind of our little secret now, do we?!," Belloc chided before discreetly placing his left hand on the smaller male's hip and replying in a hushed voice, "Yes. S'more sightseeing can wait until tomorrow..."
"It'll have to be as soon as the park opens, then, as my brother is expecting us for brunch."
"Ah, yes... He is the head scientist at the North Pacific Marine Park Research Institute, correct?"
"Yes. He gave me a call around three-thirty yesterday morning saying something rather... peculiar was found on the shore of Fukushima..."
"And what would that be?"
"The corpse of a full grown, female Great White," Blitz pulled his phone out of his back pocket and opened the 'Photos' icon to show Belloc. "She was ripped in half just behind the first dorsal fin, though authorities estimated her to be between thirty and thirty-five feet in length."
He sighed, "I just don't get it... Nothing in this day and age is capable of that. Nothing except-"
"Me? Or, rather, the Kaiju as a whole?"
Belloc snorted, "I can assure you that it was not a Kaiju that attacked this shark, Barnes. We're very particular about what we attack, and when to attack it. Quite similar to you humans..."
He pursed his lips, "Let's just get to our suite, and get some rest. We can discuss this further tomorrow over brunch."
———————————————————————
Sugoi- Amazing
Tashikani- Indeed
Nihongo ga hanasemasu. Berokko-san kura wa nani mo kitai dekimasen...- The ability to speak Japanese. I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Belloc...
Seishikina mono wa hitsuyōna, bānzu- No need for formality, Barnes
So... yeah... 'Blitz' and Belloc have been having an affair for the past seven months *Undertaker cackle*
This will be further explained in the next chapter, as well as Barnes' real name and why he prefers to go by 'Blitz'. It's actually quite sad... /
