Chapter 1: A Previous Engagement

As you well know, the final battle in Narnia was about to occur and Aslan would return to set things right and all of them would live happily in Aslan's country. However, not everyones' story was completed. As I have left out the fate of an important individual whom I shall now tell. The story begins on a warm spring afternoon in the city of London in the year of 1949. The trees were in full bloom and tulips were lining many a garden. The sun was shining brightly, its glimmer falling upon one particular house whose residents, if one were to see, would have been bustling about frantically, in stark contrast to the cheery and warm atmosphere going on outside. The house was occupied by four siblings, their names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie. Peter, the eldest, was pacing around the living room somewhat impatiently. Peter was now a young adult at 22 years of age, he was waiting in the living room with his younger brother Edmund for his two younger sisters, Susan and Lucy, who were taking a rather long time to get ready to go meet their old friends and cousin. Edmund, the second youngest sibling, was 19 years old now. He sat on the couch, waiting as well but also getting slightly nervous as the time grew late. Upstairs, in Susan's bedroom, Susan, the second eldest, was brushing her hair and putting on lipstick, she was 21 years of age and was very keen on looking her best. Lucy, the youngest at 17 years of age, was knocking outside her door. "Susan, will you come out please?" Lucy pleaded, "They're all waiting for us!". Susan sighed in exasperation as she put down her lipstick and opened the door. "Look Lu, I think it's time I told you how I felt about all of this." Susan said hesitantly. "Felt about what?" Lucy asked. "Well..." Susan composed herself before continuing. "I actually have a previous engagement that I was suppose to go to. You see, this handsome man named Bill Price has invited me to his family's estate for dinner, and I can't very well refuse." Lucy looked shocked. "But Susan! We always go to Professor Kirke's to talk about Narnia every Easter!" "But that's just it Lucy! Why do we always talk about a fantasy land we always used to pretend about when we were children? It just doesn't make sense." Peter called from downstairs: "Lucy! Susan! We are running late will you hurry up?" Lucy called back down "Peter, Edmund, I think you had better get up here." Susan braced herself as Peter and Edmund appeared at her doorway. Peter spoke first "Alright you two, what is this about?" Susan smiled at Peter and shook her head "Lucy was just trying to get me to come with you all so she could reminesence about a land we used to make up as children." to Susan's chagrin, Peter and Edmund did not seem to share her opinion on the matter. "But Susan... you know Narnia is real..." Peter began. "Aslan just told us we couldn't come back because we are too old." "Peter you know we were the ones who said he said that when the game got old." Edmund then chimed in, "But Susan, it wasn't a game at all! You know that!." Susan was getting agitated, "Honestly, when are you all going to grow up? If this revival of that game we played is your idea of a joke I'm telling you this isn't funny." Lucy took Susan gently by the hand. "Susan, we aren't joking! Please! I beg of you! Hear us out!" but Susan wasn't having it, she let her arm out of Lucy's hand and grabbed her stuff. "Bill should be picking me up any minute! I can't be late. Have fun at Professor Kirke's." She said in a tone which sounded dismissive, though she had not really intended it to sound so. She loved her family, but they never seemed to stop going on about Narnia. She knew it had been real. But Aslan had told her that she and Peter were too old to come back the last time they were there. So she didn't see any point in hoping to return. As she left the house, a car pulled up and honked it's horn. Susan looked at the driver her and recognized him to be Bill Price. She gave a wave and then entered the car in the passenger's side before turning to speak to Bill. Bill was a man the same age as Peter. He had jet black hair combed to the side, he was wearing a nice suit with a red silk bow tie. As he drove them toward the Price Estate, he gave her a smile and spoke. "So, How did they take the news?" Susan's smile fell a little. "Not very well I'm afraid. They still think we've been to a magical land. Fancy they're still thinking about the game we used to play when we were children." "Heh, I'm surprised to hear that, but I wouldn't worry. They'll grow out of it... well... Sooner or later." Bill stated. "Anyway, cheer up, I have a surprise for you when we get to the Estate. I think you will be really happy." Susan regained her joy at hearing this and replied. "I can hardly wait."
