"Were you even listening?"
The girl looked up in surprise - only to see Anna's displeased face. Her brows were frowned and she sighed.
"What is it with you these days?" she asked with a more sorrowed voice. "You're barely paying attention at the meetings and now all you do is staring at your phone."
MC swallowed hard and tried to force a smile: "Nothing. Sorry, Anna. I'm just... tired. I guess I didn't get enough sleep these past few nights."
She tried to sound sincere, but failed completely.
Yet the women on the opposite side of the table didn't ask again but scanned her face and stared at the dark circles under the eyes of her co-worker. Something clearly wasn't right. But obviously she wouldn't get the true reason why the brunette was so off. She decided to switch to lighter topics - manly because she hoped it would scare away the dark thoughts which seemed to torture her college so much.
