(A/N: If you were following the previous version of Fire and Ice, I apologize for the sudden termination of the story. I have been receiving too many reviews about how this story was just another retelling of Frozen 1. The more I thought about their feelings, the more I understood. Like I stated before, I had SO MANY ideas on how to introduce Alek's character. I felt I had to establish a close bond between them by writing him into the Frozen movies, otherwise his presence didn't make much sense in Elsa's life. This time, the story will be more unique and will pursue one of my original ideas for the character. Whether your review was good or bad, thank you for helping me make this decision.)

CHAPTER ONE: Elsa's Nightmare

Elsa couldn't believe her eyes. All of Arendelle was in flames and she was alone. "Mamma! Papa! Anna!"

No matter where she turned, fire consumed her home. She tried to scream again, but the heavy, black smoke filled her lungs and made her cough.

Elsa was snapped awake when Anna jumped on her bed and shook her awake and their parents rushed in hearing her cry.

"Elsa, what's wrong?" Agnarr asked urgently.

Elsa immediately hugged her mother for comfort and Iduna held her close and whispered in her ear, "Shhh. I'm here, Elsa. Mama's here."

"Is she going to be okay?" Anna asked with concern.

Iduna smiled, which encouraged Anna slightly. "She'll be okay. Agnarr, can you help Anna go back to sleep? I'll tend to Elsa."

Agnarr nodded and picked up Anna from Elsa's bed. Anna's and Elsa's eyes were locked as Iduna took Elsa out of the room. "How about a story?" her father asked.

"Okay," Anna replied, but didn't sound very enthusiastic.

Iduna carried Elsa to a large window that revealed the beautiful winter scenery. As Elsa watched the snow fall to the ground, her mother pulled her close, "Okay, cuddle close. Scooch in."

As Iduna sang the lullaby of Ahtohallan. Her mother's voice calmed Elsa's nerves. "Where the northwind meets the sea. There's a river full of memory. Sleep, my darling, safe and sound," Iduna sang gently as her finger ran down Elsa's nose, which made her smile.

"For in this river all is found. In her waters, deep and true. Lie the answers and a path for you. Dive down deep into her sound. But not too far or you'll be drowned. Yes, she will sing to those who hear. And in her song, all magic flows. But can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows?"

Elsa felt herself drift back to sleep as her mother continued singing, "Where the northwind meets the sea. There's a mother full of memory. Come my darling, homeward bound. When all is lost, then all is found."

Iduna looked down to see Elsa asleep. She looked up and noticed Agnarr watching nearby with a smile. Iduna took Elsa back to her room and laid her down. Agnarr went back to their room, but Iduna felt worried and wanted to stay. She sat in the chair next to Elsa's bed and gently stroke Elsa's hair as she slept.

(A/N: Okay. Now that we rebooted the story, I promise not to mess with Frozen 1 or 2. HaHa!)
