"You'll be with your prince now my princess..."
I sat on my heels as I patted the dirt and tried my best too keep from crying. My heart sank deep into my chest cavity with sorrow. My only friend murdered by some horrendous man. I gripped my hands into the soil as I remembered how cruelly the mister had kicked the dog even after the fact he'd hit her with his car. The rage inside of me boiled as I cursed all the men around me for being so terrible. They were all cowards hiding behind brute force.
I released my grip and seethed back a sob through gritted teeth. How could anyone be considered human if they could not even realize that senseless killing was a waste of blood. My body was sore from fighting, and my pride was wounded from the fact I wasn't strong enough to win. I looked down at the fresh grave as I pushed myself back onto my feet.
"I'll never forget you my Valentine!!"
As the sun set, and I stood gazing at the scene before me, a sudden burst of fire in the sky caught my eye. It pierced through the sky as the fire trailed across. My eyes were glued to it as I watched it fall into the earth with such a loud impact it shook the earth beneath me. A large gust of wind blasted around me as I still could not bear to look away.
The sudden experience of seeing something so magnificent left me star struck. I was in complete awe as I watched people begin to head over to where the comet had landed. I shook my head as I realized I was standing still for far too long.
"Tch...gawkers. They wouldn't even know what to do with a rock from space to begin with."
I turned away and walked toward the stone wall just a couple feet away from the field I had been standing in. I picked up a bottle of wine that I'd brought along with me and took a small drink from it. It was bittersweet to me as I drank for the sake of numbing my anger. I leaned against the wall as I pulled the bottle from my lips and looked at the crowd growing before me.
I shook my head as I heard the sirens in the Background. It was time for me to take my leave as well. I didn't need trouble from corrupt police. I tipped out a bit of wine as I pushed myself from the wall and took another sip. I began walking along the wall, not bothering with even looking at the growing crowd anymore. I only had a couple minutes to get back to the brothel anyway, not like I'd have any customers waiting. I corked the bottle and hurried back though.
The night came quickly and it seemed everyone was talking about the comet. I had no part in the talk and kept busy doing my own thing. I found myself back outside, leaning against a wall under the dim light of a streetlamp, sipping from the wine bottle again. It wouldn't be long before the Mister would realize someone had dipped into his wine collection and I was preparing myself for battle. After all, it was his doing that the dog had died. I tightened my fists as I heard his voice from inside begin to shout and berate the other girls.
"Where the hell is that Whore!? I'll strangle that Bitch with my bare hands!!"
I pushed myself from the wall just as he and his goons burst through the doors. The first thing he spotted was the bottle. I smirked as I allowed more to spill from it. I watched as his face turned from anger to complete rage. He shot a glare at me as he charged forward. I dodged to the side and intended on slamming the bottle at his head. One of his goons dashed at me though and slammed me into the wall, I swung the bottle the other way and listened as it crashed into the wall as well. Gripping tightly to the neck, I slammed it into the guy's arm and yanked it back. They all took a couple steps from me.
"You've got a lot of nerve challenging me for a dumb dog! I've put up with your lazy ass for too long Mocha! I didn't care that you didn't make me money, I didn't say anything when you attacked customers, but now that you're stealing from me, I gotta teach you a lesson!"
I spat at his feet and gripped tighter as I launched off the wall and slammed the bottle into his gut without hesitation. I released and bounced back on my feet. Intentionally leaving it in him as I knew his next move would be to have his goons attack me for him now that he was wounded. Knowing that I hadn't slammed the bottle hard enough to imbed the bottle but enough to cut up his suit, I assured myself that it wouldn't take long for him to believe that he'd gotten the upper hand on me.
I sprung back, staying vigilant to the surrounding goons as I point at him with a little smirk.
"You're next words will be, "If you had any smarts you would have killed me with that move!"
He sputtered and gripped onto the bottle as he glared at me. Acting as if he were terribly wounded.
"If you had any smarts you would have killed me with that move!"
He paused as his eyes went huge in shock and my smirk turned into a grin.
"What!? How did'ja!?"
He growled, motioning the bottle at me and revealing that he wasn't wounded at all.
"You're starting to piss me off!"
Not caring about his bluff, he motioned for his goons to charge me. I grinned as I knew everything was quickly falling into place, but suddenly a group of policemen came coming directly towards us. The Mister, dropping the broken bottle, and his men quickly stood upright and presentable as the officers drew nearer. The Mister grinned in my direction, knowing that luck was in his favor now. He could have me arrested...or worse. I swallowed hard. My mind began racing as they came closer.
"You're thinking you've won aren't you! But I've still got one trick up my sleeve. A game changer that'll leave even you with your mouth open!"
I began to inch away from them bit by bit. Their looks shooting from me to the officers, waiting with anticipation for my marvelous plan to happen. With a quick snap of my fingers in the officers direction causing their eyes to look at the officers and a couple officers to draw their own guns as well; I pushed myself off my feet and began running.
There were several loud bangs and then ringing in my ears as I ran. A sharp feeling sank into my side with a fiery sting. With no time to turn around or lessen my pace, I continued running and ducking through alleyways. I had lived here long enough to know some easy escape routes. It wasn't until I was sure I had lost them and was out of breath that I let up. My running became a jog and then a stumble as I realized the stinging pain from earlier was a gun shot wound. My footing fumbled and I crashed to the side of a wall. I dragged myself against the wall down an alleyway. From not too far I could hear the men coming after me. I gritted my teeth in anger as I realized my blood had probably left a nice little trail for them to find me. I barely even had strength to hold myself up, there was no way I could fight them off. I cursed myself as I accepted my fate and stopped moving.
Standing in the dark alleyway, I prepared for the worse. Even if they left me alive, there was no point in living anymore. I tightened my fists as the voices got louder and the sounds of approaching footsteps got closer. My heart began racing.
"Of all the creatures upon Earth...Men...are truly the worst!"
I looked up to see the stars for the last time, but instead I met the gaze of another being. A smirk upon their face, as they looked down upon me. An audience for my tragedy. There was no reason for me to move anymore, there was no possibility of me escaping, but I wouldn't allow those eyes to see me so defeated. I took a deep breath and took a step forward. Dragging my body against the wall, feeling the warmth of my blood painting the sides of the wall. I gritted my teeth and continued to push forward. Behind me the voices were becoming clear. It would only be a matter of minutes before my end drew near.
There was a sudden shift in the air around me. I struggled to keep moving though. With all the energy I had left, I pushed myself off the wall preparing to give at least a final standing ovation. Without realizing, the unfamiliarity of arms scooping me up caught me off guard. I was off the ground just as my own body was giving into exhaustion.
"You show the bravery of a warrior...I like that."
I fell into unconsciousness.
I woke up to the warmth of a fire and the pain of the gun shot wound. I attempted to sit up but the pain shot through me and forced me back down. A calm voice caught me off guard.
"It's best that you don't move for the time being. Unlike my kind, you don't have the power to regenerate when you've been wounded. I've done the best I could with the knowledge I could recall as of now. Though it'd be much easier if I'd just give you some of my blood."
I shook my head and softly traced my fingers over the stitches on my side. I looked at my surroundings first. It seemed as if we were in a small rut house, possibly one of the unused ones that lied hidden in the boonies far from the towns. I then looked upon the being and took in the sight. There are so many words to explain the being before me, the entroquette words I could use to accentuate the characteristics of this being are endless, but I'd rather be blunt.
Before me was an extremely buff beautiful man. His muscles seemed to be sculpted perfectly but his face, even with such carved features, held a beauty in it that made my heart beat a little quicker. He sat in a chair close to the fire.
"What year is it?"
"It's 1999"
He sat quietly for some time. I wasn't sure if he were shocked or just trying to comprehend everything. My stomach growled, but I made no motion to catch his attention. Instead I looked up at the ceiling.
It was such a turn of events. Everything had happened so quickly that even as I lied in the straw cot, I could not fully grasp that I was alive.
"It's been almost 80 years since I've actually been on earth. Back then...all I wanted was to completely destroy the human race, but after spending so much time in space; I lost my will to complete the task. To be honest, returning to this land has made me yearn for my own comfort on this planet."
I listened attentively, trying to figure out just what exactly this being was. He seemed too flawless to be human, but too earthly to be an alien. Still I found his voice soothing at the moment and needed to hear it more.
"Was that you who fell from the sky?"
"Yes...though it took no time for me to awaken thanks to the crowds of people willing to touch my casing. I emerged before the authorities could recapture me."
"You need human life as sustenance?"
"I need blood, or at least at the moment that's what I needed. It seems that the particles that clung to me in space had formed a crystal encasing around me, but my life force quickly awoke inside of me as the minerals within the crystal sucked the blood of those who dared to touch it."
Hearing such words should have fazed me, yet I could only wrap the image of the cruel people around me being drained. I liked the thought of it and smiled weakly. Perhaps I was just as cruel. I let the smile fall and slowly turned to look at him once more.
"You chose to save me, I am in your debt."
The words left my mouth before I could think it out. Though with all the information he had told me, I didn't care if he asked me for my life. At this point I didn't have a reason to exist.
"I'm not exactly too sure for my reasons of saving you, but I do not plan to kill you. Though with the condition your body is in right now, you are useless to me. When you heal and gain your strength back, I will ask my favor then. Until then, I simply want you to tell me all your knowledge of what has happened since I was last on Earth."
I closed my eyes and smiled. Turning my head back to the ceiling.
"I can do that. I may not dwell into people's personal lives, but I have a passion for history and can recite it well. But, before I begin, can I ask one more thing?"
"You May."
"Can I have your name?"
I listened as he seemed to adjust himself in his chair. There was a gust of wind and a sudden chill as the fire went out. Perhaps I had crossed the line. I opened my eyes as he scooped me up into his arms again. A stern look on his face, but not at me, it was directed toward something outside the rut that it seemed only he could see.
"It's no longer safe to stay here any longer. We'll have to continue our conversation at another time. We're both still on the run."
