Hello there!
I was browsing through my old documents and found something. I read through it and got inspired to write this.
And, in case you weren't wondering, I am NOT uploading the story I was reading. It's bad.
I'm hoping this one is better than that one.
This is going to be a two-shot brotherly fluff fic.
This is part one: Lullaby
Line Break
April frowned to herself in confusion when she saw Casey, Leo, Raph, and Mikey gathered around the door of the Lab. Leo and Raph were facing her, but their eyes were closed. Mikey and Casey were looking inside the room.
April was about to ask them about it when she heard the most beautiful humming sound coming from the lab. She was drawn in. When she peeked inside, Mikey and Casey moved out of her way wordlessly. Her eyes widened in shock when she saw that Donnie was the one humming.
He didn't seem to realize that he had an audience listening to him. He continued working, humming to himself. April now understood why her friends were standing around silently: she had never heard such a calming voice. She felt her eyes drift closed as she listened.
It was about ten minutes later when Donnie sighed, startling everyone. Ninjas were never supposed to let their guard down, but Donnie's serene voice was enough to catch them all.
"I know you guys have been standing there for the past hour," said the genius turtle. He turned to his audience, making all of them turn red. He had an eyeridge raised and arms crossed.
"Can I help you?" he asked. Leo cleared his throat and looked away uncomfortably. Raph crossed his arms and looked at the floor. Mikey opened his mouth for a second as f he was about to say something, then closed it. April looked between each of her friends and smiled at Donnie nervously. Casey was the only one brave enough to step into the lab and walk up to Donnie.
"Why didn't you tell us you have such a nice voice?" he asked. This time, Donnie was the one who turned a little red.
"Because it's inadequate information," he said with a nonchalant shrug. Mikey ran up to him and got on his knees, bringing his hands together. Everyone recognized this as his ultimate puppy-dog trick, guaranteed to make even the most heartless of kings break.
"Can you sing something for us again D?" he begged. "Pretty please?"
April thought for sure that the purple-clad turtle would break. Instead, he stood up and grabbed Mikey under the arms, bringing the youngest to a standing position.
"No," he said. Everyone stared at him in shock, including Leo and Raph. No one had EVER defied Mikey's ultimate puppy-dog trick. Mikey just pouted.
"Pretty please with Ice Cream Kitty on top?" he begged. Donnie cocked his eyeridge again.
"I already said no," he repeated. Mikey grabbed him around the waist, determined to win.
"PLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEE?"
Donnie rolled his eyes.
"You done yet?"
April's mouth dropped open in shock.
"Just one song?" Leo asked. Donnie looked really annoyed now.
"No."
"What if we promise to leave you alone for a week?" Raph asked. Donnie seemed to think about it.
"Tempting..." he said. His brothers looked hopeful before Donnie said, "But no."
"Why are you being so stubborn about it?" Mikey pouted. Donnie removed him gently from around his waist.
"I guess I just don't wanna sing anything," he explained gently. Mikey looked like he was going to say something, but clenched his mouth shut in resignation.
"But you've got a better voice than any singer on the radio!" Raph insisted. Donnie's face turned a little red again, but he shook his head.
"Sorry..."
Leo opened his mouth to keep arguing, but April knew that he would just waste his breath. With a sigh, she put a hand on the eldest's' shoulder and shook her head, telling him to drop it.
The turtles walked sullenly out of the lab. Casey followed wordlessly. April cast a glance at Donnie, wondering why he was so determined to NOT sing. Mind racing, she turned around and walked out of the room, too.

Donnie jumped awake. He had no idea what had woken him up. He bounced out of bed and opened his door, seeing his brothers and human friends doing the same.
All except Mikey, that is.
"What's going on?" Raph asked. April opened her mouth to suggest something, but a scream cut through the air before she got a word out. Everyone rushed immediately to Mikey's room, knowing that he was the one screaming, most likely due to a nightmare.
Leo was the first one inside. Mikey was thrashing around in his bed, face sweating and clutching desperately to his pillow. His blanket lay abandoned on the floor.
The turtle brothers ran up to their youngest, trying to wake him up. Donnie took his hand while Leo and Raph shook him and said soothing things to him, trying desperately to wake him up.
After a while of this, Mikey shot up with another scream. He was shaking like a leaf and sobbing uncontrollably.
"Mikey, it's okay," Leo said to him.
"It was just a nightmare," Raph tried to reassure him, but the youngest couldn't seem to hear them. He gripped his pillow tighter, crying into it. Leo tried to give him a hug, but Mikey pulled away from him with a scream.
Whatever nightmare Mikey had just had, it really shook him to his core. Donnie was worried that if they couldn't calm him down and convince him that it was all just a bad dream, it would leave a permanent scar on his mind.
However, Leo and Raph couldn't calm him down, no matter what they tried. When the turtles were younger, either Leo or Splinter would hug them when they had a nightmare and sing them a song in Japanese. It was soothing, but Leo couldn't seem to find the words at the moment. Mikey was too shaken up.
Donnie's eyes shone with concern. He had only ever seen Mikey this scared of a dream once, and that was years ago. He racked his brain, trying to remember how they had calmed the youngest all those years ago.
That's when he remembered how they did it: Donnie was the one to calm him down. Whenever Leo and Raph got into a fight, Donnie would pull Mikey aside and sing a special song to him, one that only they (and Splinter, of course, being the one that taught them the song) knew the words to.
Donnie started forward to try and comfort Mikey, but his mind drifted to April and Casey, who were standing at the entrance to the room. His face burned thinking about how they would feel about him singing.
Mikey let out another tortured scream, and Donnie pushed any thoughts of embarrassment out of his head. He made his way over to Mikey's bed and sat down in front of the crying turtle. Leo and Raph moved out of the way, watching Donnie with curious eyes.
Donnie took a deep breath and stared at his baby brother. He was hysterical... Donnie couldn't stand to see him cry like this anymore.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... you make me happy when skies are gray..."
Surprisingly, Mikey stopped crying and looked up at Donnie. His face was a mixture of shock and anguish. Donnie held out his hands to Mikey, who sniffled and shuffled closer to Donnie. Donnie wrapped him gently in a hug and Mikey nuzzled his face in the crook of Donnie's neck.
"You'll never know dear how much I love you... please don't take my sunshine away..."
Leo and Raph joined April and Casey in the doorway. Donnie forgot that everyone else was standing there, choosing instead to wrap his arms tighter around Mikey. The younger turtle sniffled again and joined Donnie in singing their song.
"The other night dear as I lay sleeping, I dreamt I held you in my arms... when I awoke dear, I was mistaken... please don't take my sunshine away..."
Mikey wrapped his arms around Donnie, who tightened his grip a little more. His eyes started streaming silent tears. Donnie was alright with this... at least Mikey wasn't quite so hysterical anymore.
"I've always loved you and made you happy, and nothing else could come between... but now you've left me to love another... you have shattered all of my dreams..."
Donnie lightly kissed the top of Mikey's head. After a couple minutes of sitting there in silence, Mikey pulled away from the embrace, rubbing his eyes.
"Feeling better, Mike?" Donnie asked. Mikey nodded with a small smile.
"T-thanks, D..." he said. Donnie gestured for the others to come over as well, trying to avoid looking at April and Casey. Leo put a reassuring hand on Mikey's shoulder.
"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked. Mikey started playing nervously with his mattress.
"It was terrifying," he said. "We were off on a mission to stop a giant mutagen bomb because the Kraang wanted to try to take over the world one last time... when we went, we couldn't deactivate it... Leo pushed us off the side of the building when it went off so we would survive, but we got separated and I was all alone..."
He started tearing up again, but now that he was calm, Leo was able to reach over and wipe away a tear.
"April and Casey didn't survive the explosion, and New York was completely destroyed... and I couldn't find you guys anywhere..."
The three turtles leaned in and gave him another hug.
"Don't worry Mikey," Leo said.
"Yeah," Donnie agreed. "We're all right here..."
"And we'll beat up any Kraang that shows their ugly face in New York," Raph reassured Mikey, making the young turtle snort in amusement.
"We'll also beat up Leo if he tries saving us like that," Donnie butted in. Everyone laughed at the indignant 'hey!' from said turtle. Mikey squeezed them all back from inside his turtle huddle.
"You guys really are the best bros a turtle could ask for," he said.
Line Break
Hope you enjoyed part one! Which is somewhat short... but it exists now.
The song is "You are my Sunshine" by... well, I'm not really sure who originally wrote it, but I've heard Johnny Cash sing it, and that's the version of the song that I used.
