Kenny Ackerman sighs, looking down at the quiet little boy besides him. He watched as the eyes of the nine years old, shines with amazement at his new surrounding. His mouth curled up a little, remembering how these curious little eyes were lifeless before. He's mind went back at the time he met the young boy.

The boy was six back then and it was raining at the first time they met. He remembered the boy shivering from the rain as he took shelter under a makeshift garbage house. He wondered how the boy made it in this parts of the underground city, where some light and rain from the outside can be visible here.
He shook his head, making his way to the kid besides he had made a promise and his sticking to it. As if sensing his presence, the boy looked up at him. He almost grimaced at the sight of the boy, he's all bones and dirt. The boy's blue eyes stared at him and he felt the lifeless sea, how gray and dead it is.
At that day, he decided to teach the boy, make him grow until he's ready. He would trained him until he can finally bring him to the outside world, because he believed that this boy can change humanity.
"Hey brat, let's go."
After training him for three years, he watched as his skills grow. The kid was a protege,—Kenny admits that he was maybe a bit scared of him—he has so much raw talent; if it carelessly handled, he might go down a bloodied path like his.
Other than his skills, the boy did grow healthier when he fed him more; although, he was still scrawny but atleast he wasn't small anymore. Over the years he developed a foul mouth, making him wonder, where did that come from. He just decided it was the environment's fault and how he always joined in fights there.
Yep it's the underground city, not his. he smirked, happy at the reason for the boy's tough exterior. However, he almost frowned as his innocent orbs became the eyes of a psychopath and that's one of the reason why he brought him to the outside. The underground isn't a place for a child to nourish and grow.
Kenny's eyes went back to the boy, who was now holding a apple in his hands while smirking victoriously. That too is one of the reasons why, he needs to get him out of there. He had promised his mother, to give the kid a normal life, a family but he might have twisted that promise a little bit. He viewed the kid as his protégé not a family because he has to stick by his motto, "Don't get attached to someone."
He can never be a parent to this kid, he has one goal to attained and the people, who are closest to him are only walls blocking his path. That's why he made a plan and that plan is to train him more harshly; then, leave him forever with a old friend. He slowed down as a familiar house was seen in the distance.
It was two story with a balcony and a small garden. He eyed the woods at the back of the house as a smirk made his way trough his lips—a good terrain for training the brat. Waltzing to the door, he halted the boy and knocked three times; as, he waited for the owner, he kneeled down to the boy.
The boy looked at him confused, "Kenny, what the hell is this place?"
Ignoring the use of his words, he answered his question. "Levi, this is your new home." he answered, "I'll be leaving now but I'll come back and trained you for a couple of years."
Before Levi could answer, the door flew open and a beautiful woman was now standing in the once closed door. She gasped and was about to speak when he put a hand up, stopping her.
"Alyssa, this is Levi and Levi, this is Alyssa. She is your new caretaker and I'll expect it for you to give her some respect." he stood up, tipping his hat at her before dropping the boy's luggage down on the porch. "I'll be going now and I'll visit you next week."
He eyed the woman, passing a mental message. Alyssa's eyes widened and nodded, he relaxed at this, feeling relieved that Levi is in good hands. "Take good care of him." he said before leaving, not looking at her nor the boy.
His mask dropped as he cracked his knuckles. Time to go down to business.
Levi didn't know what was happening, he was thrilled to be out of that fucking hellish place but to be left here, in a world he isn't familiar with, scared the shit out of him. Kenny left him with the woman; atleast, she was nice; however, he saw something flashed in her eyes when she saw his mentor. Sadness maybe.
It bothers him a little but he knew frying on one's history is fucking rude. Oh, other than the woman,—Ms. Alyssa—there is a old hag glaring at him. He clicked his tongue at the old lady and it have might did the trick since the old hag started angrily gasping at him.
He just ignored her and was about to left the table when he smelled something good. His eyes darted to the food, Ms. Alyssa was holding and his mouth starts to water at the delicious meal. She smiled warmly at him as she bring down his part of the food. "Hope you enjoy." she laughed as he begun gulping down the food.
He stopped for a little bit, remembering his table manners. He says his thanks before eating again. Levi heard the old hag criticizing him, "Did that man teached a pig." she rebuked and Ms. Alyssa scolded her. He just ignored it and continued eating his food; although, it isn't in his personality to not fight back so...
"Just shut up old hag, didn't your elders say, to not talk when your mouth is full." he retorted, smirking at her gawking face. Ms. Alyssa tried to stiffle her giggles and the old hag seems to went back to her senses. She growls at him; then, smiled a little bit. "Good one kid, good one."
He nods from the compliment and went back eating. This place might not be bad after all.
He decides to explore the woods at the back, after saying where he was going, Ms. Alyssa nodded and reminded him to be back before sunset. Now walking at a dirt path, he eyed the tall trees. Seeing it, he liked the idea of climbing it.
Grabbing a low branch, he pulled himself up and continued climbing. As he made it to the top, his eyes shined at the view. So this is the real world. In the distance he saw how the sun shined down on the— walls!? He gasped in amazement at how high the walls are...all his life, he had fucking missed this. Envy filled him, thinking how these people live their lives in this luxary.
Although, he wondered why there were walls surrounding them, trapping them like cage animals. He will ask Ms. Alyssa about this later—now having enough of the view he let himself fall from the high branch. He free falled down, feeling the air in his face as excitement went in him.
Angling himself, he flipped to gained momentum as he landed on a branch. The branch bended and using this as leverage, he launched himself to the next branch as he moved on to the next ones. He flipped to a higher branch, grabbing it; then, swinging himself to the next set.
Is this the feeling of freedom? he wondered, as the cold breeze made him shivered. He laughed at this flowing liberation, he never felt so alive.
His eyes stared at the window, he sighs, relaxing a little bit. After showing him his room, he starts cleaning it right away. He thought about Kenny and how they might return to the underground after he finished his business here.
He turned his head as the full moon gave light to the dim room. His minds wandered to his old home, it maybe a dump but he misses it. He's afraid to be rejected by the people here like his time in the underground, all they have there was poverty, stealing, fights and blood.
He tucked himself to bed and dripped to sleep.

"Good morning, Levi." Ms. Alyssa greeted him and he nodded in acknowledgement. He bid goodbye to her, telling her he will be in the woods again. She answered him with a hum before she continued her work.
Levi went to the woods and starts his daily routine. It's better to be in shape. he sighs, stretching his whole body. Dropping down on the grass, he begun doing pushed ups. His mind went to Kenny's words to him before he left, when will he be back.
He shake his head as he finished his hundredth pushed up—now to sit ups.
He panted, wiping of the disgusting sweat dripping down his face. He checked the sun, realizing it's quarter to nine. His stomach growled in hunger and he agreed it's time to head back now.
He entered the house to see the old hag on the table and Ms. Alyssa preparing breakfast. He announced his presence, excusing himself to clean up first.
Minutes later, he exits out the bathroom with a towel on his head. He scratched his hair and sat himself on his chair. He said his thanks as Ms. Alyssa gave his plate. He begun eating, savoring each bite. Finished, he helped Ms. Alyssa cleaned the dishes. She smiled at him as the two washed the plates in the sink.
While the duo do their chore, Ms. Alyssa suggested him to explore the town and meet some kids of his age. He fretted over it for a minute and decided it wouldn't hurt. She smiled kindly at him; then, brought her hand down on her stomach. Levi stared at her, wierded out by her action; feeling his eyes, Ms. Alyssa only laugh at his reaction.
There was a nagging feeling in his mind that couldn't stop haunting him. His mind went back on Ms. Alyssa—he wonders what was all that about. Before he left, he saw her face crunched in pain before going to the bathroom. His worried about his new guardian and he didn't want her to be sick and die like his mother. If she died, he might be left alone with that old hag and he fucking dread that.
His eyes wandered to the stalls and his thievery urges nagged him as he saw all the goods. It couldn't hurt to borrow some things right? he smirked as his hands grabbed some fruits, toys and candies. His smirked widened realizing how naive this people are, after putting all his goods in his pockets.
Tch, idiots. he clicked his tongue at them, dissapointed how carefree they are. He turned down the street when he heard shouting. He raised an eyebrow at the commotion, curious he made his way to the forming crowd. He squeezes himself trough the adult's legs and his mouth whistled in amazement at the sight.
His eyes watched as a thirteen years old defend himself from a bunch of teens wearing some type of uniform. The blonde boy blocked every hit from the teen, his eyes flickered to another two sneaking up his back. That isn't a fair fight. he cracked his knuckles as he took a big leap.
He landed at the two teen's head, he smirked as he kicked himself of them and landed on the ground. He watched as the two fucking barbarians smacked their chin on the ground. He glance smugly at them; taunting them, "Ganging up on a kid is fucking cowardly am I right."
His head turned to the blonde who manage to knocked his opponent down. "Glad you joined the fight." he phanted out as more teens come in their ways. "This guys kept on coming."
Levi headbutted another teen and kicked the one sneeking up behind him. "Mind telling me, how did you round up this kind of bunch." he smirked as the guy snarled.
"Less talking, more fighting." he kicked the shin of a brunnete teen and Levi smiled in amusement. "Couldn't agree more." he cracked his neck as he tackled himself to the group of teens.
The two went to the near by stream to fresh off, after the event earlier, he just received some small scratches in his body while him on the other hand has a swollen eye. He stared at the upset older kid, as he washed his face—he's actually more upset at himself for getting dirty. Well what happened, fucking happens.
"Now can you tell me, how did you angered a mob of teens?" he asked, smiling a little bit at the possible reason for the said fight. The boy must have gathered his thoughts first before finally answering. "I just insulted them..."
Levi raised a brow, "The reason you insulted them is—
"Just shut it, you don't even know." he cutted him off and Levi agreed he has a point; although, he frowned at him (upset a little bit), shaking his head, he glared at him. "Is that how you treat your saviour?" he mocked and the boy tensed a little bit.
"Saviour? saviour my butt, I don't even know you—" before he could finished his sentence, Levi answered him.
"The name is Levi so don't your dare fucking forget it." he told him as the boy relaxed a little bit. He watched as he composed himself a little bit. "Erwin is my name." he said, standing up and dusted his clothes. "Well see you soon, Levi."
A smirk made it's way at Erwin's lips as he left him there. Levi shook his head and made his way back to Alyssa's house as his stomach rumbled. Stupid brat.
Levi explored the town of Trost once again, he eyed the big hill and decide to climb it as he made it up the top. He lay down on the grass and took a little nap.

His eyes snapped open, his eyes stared at the orange sky. It's getting late. he groaned and was about to stand up when he heard humming. His eyebrow raised a little bit as curiosity racked his brain, he sat up and turned his head to the voice.
His eyes were met with a girl with ginger hair, she was facing her back at him, resulting for him not to see her face. She was mayber younger than him and a little smaller—he thinks.
The girl didn't seem to noticed him, he was about to call out to her when she stood up. She was fiddling with something and he watched as a paper slipped from her sketchbook. He was about to tell her to picked up her trash when she quickly left.
Sighing, he picked up the paper and his eyes widened at the sketch. It was a drawing of mountains, forest surrounding a big lake—damn for a kid her age, she seems talented. His eyes noticed large rocks forming an arc at the end of the lake and he whistled at how well drawn it is—she even got the shadings right.
Debating, whether to keep it or trow it, he choose his first choice. He folded the drawing neatly and put it in his pocket—well atleast he got something more cool than the stuff he stole.
He stretched his limbs before walking home.
Like he promised, Kenny visited him and their training resumed. It's been weeks since he was here and Levi did have a great time in here; however, he still missed his mentor and their daily spar and bloodied training.
He blocked a kick from him, he back handspring four times to gain distance from him. It seems the move had excite his mentor because he ran towards him to deliver flurry of punches, which he either evade, block, dodge or attack back.
He grew frustrated at every move—he can't land a hit because of the huge disadvantage. The only thing he could do was to sneak up on him. Controlling his breating, he twisted himself like a snake, dodging his every hit. This must have caught him off guard because he saw his eyes widened.
Levi sneakily slithered up to his back and quickly grabbed in on a head lock. Suprised Kenny tried to wiggle him off but Levi only tightened his hold. He almost smirked at his triumphant win when suddenly he grabbed his arms and flipped him over on his shoulders.
He body slammed him down on the ground so hard, so hard—he coughed up blood. That shitty man!
He rolled back on his stomach as he flipped himself up. He jump towards his mentor as he delivered series of attacks. They continued sparring until the sun went down.
Kenny brought the boy to his room, after their intense training the boy was knocked out. He laid him down on the bed; while doing it he noticed the drawing near his table. He eyed it and sighs at the boy.
He was about to leave the room when Alyssa appeared in the doorway. "Leaving so soon already." she said and he chose to ignore her as he made his way trough the hall. The woman must have been angry at him because she finally snapped, "Would you please stop and look at me!"
He finally gave into her, he turned around to faced her and the sight of her made him sick in the stomach. Tears gathered in her eyes as it drops to the floor, she gathered her strength and punched him—well she tried.
She just kept punching him and finally stopped. "Are you done?" he asked and she nods, answering him. He sighs and turned around, "I'll be here for a week and then I'll leave."
He walked away from that house—from her— and made his way to his apartment that he was renting here. He need to accomplish one goal and everyo—his mind went back to his nephew and her. He sighs, rubbing his forehead, he ruffles his hair out of frustration.

Just like he promised, he trained Levi for weeks before he leave again. He promised the little boy that he'll return to train him more and give him a reward if he beat him and with that he boarded the carriage and went on his way.
Levi was lying down on the spot were he previously saw the girl. He looked up at the drawing he was holding—he didn't believe in lucky charms or those type of shits but with this he'll make an exception. Because seeing this drawing made him think if the world outside the walls is like how she drew: the vast body of water, the large mountain range and greenary environment.
He closed his eyes, imagining this version of the world, the one he haven't seen before.
In the following days he noticed some kind of tension between his mentor and Ms. Alyssa, he doesn't know why but...the atmosphere in the house seems to be darker, everytime his mentor came.
Once he left again, he noticed something wrong with his legal guardian—she seems to grow pale and maybe sickly. He thought she was dying and when he asked her about this, she just laugh and told him that she was fine.
Levi wasn't convinced by her act; he didn't expect to know the answer to soon and in a form he didn't expected. He look at the old hag across the table, she was calmy sipping her tea and left him confused there. He cleared his troath, trying to make sense with the news.
"Are you telling me Ms. Alyssa is fucking pregnant!?" he asked as the simple nod from the hag confirmed his words. So all the morning sickness and picky eating was because she was fucking pregnant. He didn't see that coming and when he asked who the father is, he didn't expect that kind of response from her.
The old hag—she has a name but he refused to call her that—exhaled deeply, "You're a smart kid so you might know who it is." she says and the gears in Levi's brain begun to grind.
He looked at her confused—especially who was he. His gears went on as he thought hard. Who was the only man Ms. Alyssa was involved with (no one except his mentor), Why was Ms. Alyssa so sad whenever his mentor here (simple it's his mentor) and...
The old hag must have got tired from his lack of response because he was suddenly hit at the head by her—and the bulb finally lit up. "Are you telling me that my mentor is the father of her child!?" he gasped astounded by the news; the old hag across her, nodded at him in confirmation.
"Wow..." that's kinda weird, Levi never imagined his mentor being a father, coming from him—a kid his mentor just picked up from—that's so weird. Although by her grim face, something tells him, they aren't gonna tell him and he agrees with that. Everytime they trained, Kenny always tells him to never get attached tp someone and seeing the situation, he knew his mentor will never be a father to this soon to be child.
He turned the old hag as she begun saying something. "Looks like you and I have an addition to the family." she says and Levi was confused by her choice of words. Why is he involved—he just ignored, deciding they think of him as a family now; as, he sipped his tea,the old hag looked at him in a wierd manner.
What? he raised an eyebrow, holding the cup by the rim. Did he done something wrong?
He shrugged and continue drinking his tea.
He was outside again and it has been months since he came here and Ms. Alyssa's stomach has grown a buldge. In this months, his mentor returned to train him; then, leave like usual. He always wonder if his mentor will leave him someday—nahhh, he will never do that.
He was bored so he decided to explore the town again; although, he still kept stealing from the stalls out of habit. He munched on the red apple he stole and was about to walk away when he saw a small ginger hair in the flock of crowd.
He was about to follow her when someone bump into him. He fell to the ground and the cause of it, seems to have fell across from him too. Growling, he glared at the cause of his problem. "Hey dammit! Don't you have fucking eyes!" he snapped and the brunnete girl, who bumped into him just sticked out her tongue at him, resulting him to clicked his tongue in disgust.
"I don't care! I have an important research to do so bye shorty!" and with that she ran of, as Levi gawked at her. "I'm not that short!" he shouted back but the girl didn't hear him or choose to ignore him. He dusted his pants and looked back at the crowd to see the girl was gone. Stupid shitty glasses!?
He huffed and walked to another direction—pissed at the outcome.
Levi wasn't in the mood so he tried to calm himself by helping around the house but that didn't work. He just decided to blow of some steam in the forest; while, walking there, he noticed some foot printss on the patch of grass—so he wasn't alone.
He climbed the trees to get a better access in his terrain—he knew the woods at the back of his head and he felt uncomfortable, sharing his turf with someone. He jumps tree to tree until he finally heard voices at the distance.
He landed on a lower branch, using the bark as his cover. He eyed the figures below and his widened a little bit at the two kids. It was the Erwin kid and that shitty glasses!?
They have another boy with them and Levi sweat dropped at him. The other blonde boy was sniffing everything on the ground and he almost gagged when he tried to sniff some animal's shit. He almost sighed, relief that the boy pulled his nosed away from that animal dung.
He focused at their conversation and he's eyes lit up, curious at what Eyebrows showed them. It was some kind of machine and he almost covered his ears at the loud banshee squeal that Shitty glasses produced.
"Is that the ODM gear!" she yells, eyes sparkling and Erwin nodded. Levi was curious and was about to take a closer look when the other kid's nose twitched and said, "We got company."
