Broken Hearts
They didn't mean to fall, they were just exploring the mountain. It was dark and they couldn't see the hole in the ground. But now they were falling. Flailing their arms wildly, hoping to grasp some semblance of a branch or a vine maybe. But it was too late.
After what felt like an eternity, they hit the ground. *crack* Frisk shot up almost instantly. They felt fine, somehow. So what was that sound? Frisk started to stand, not noticing the faint red glow under them, newly visible without them laying on it anymore. They began to take a step, only to slip on something and immediately face plant. They sat up again.
Oh.
They picked it up. It was red, and glowing. It looked like a tiny piece of a- wait. Where is the other glow coming from? Frisk turned their head, seeing the rest of the glowing red stuff. Standing up, still clutching the single small piece in their hand, they walked to the rest and knelt down to observe it. Putting the piece they slipped on back in the set, it could clearly be arranged to be a heart. But where did it come from?
They decided it was probably important so they kept it all carefully in their hands. But they still needed to figure out where they are, and how to get out. They moved to start walking, but it was too dark to see where they were going. They adjusted their hold on the heart, shifting it all into one hand, and using the other to feel around the wall. Ah hah! They found a doorway. Moving the heart back into both hands, they carefully walked through. The glow from the heart in their hands only barely lighting the hallway.
Coming out of the dark hallway, there was a room with a light in the middle, shining on a patch of grass with a flower on it. Moving to walk past the flower and to the next doorway visible on the other side of the room, they were startled when suddenly they heard, "Howdy!"
Jumping back, they kept a tight hold on the heart as they stared, bewildered, at a flower with a face.
Hope you enjoyed the first chapter! It's very short, I know. But I'm only a teenager, and this is my first ever fan fiction piece. I'll try to make future chapters longer than this, this more or less an intro to the concept. I thought of it like two days ago, and it's been in my head ever since. I'll try to update often, but for now pretty much all I can promise is at least a chapter a month. Keep in mind, I'm making this up as I go, so there is no planning ahead. Except for special occasions though, like for the first couple of chapters. Constructive criticism is appreciated!
