Daniel was sitting in his seat in class 1-A, something that he still couldnt believe he was doing even now! He was absolutely shocked and elated when he got accepted in.
As he listened to the bored, sleepy sounding teacher known as Mr. Aizawa, he couldn't help but feel the extreme giddiness even now.
Meanwhile, dashing down the hallways of Yuuei was a girl with an eyepatch over one eye, a wizard like hat on her head, and a long staff in her hand. She was late, so very late to class, it was the first day after all, and the size of this school should be freaking illegal!
As soon as she reached the big doors that lead into the 1-A classroom, she straightened up her posture as much as physically possible, held her head high, and burst the doors open with as much force as her small frame could muster.
"THE GREAT ASUNA MEGUMI HAS GRACED YOUR PRESENCE~!" She shouted into the classroom with as much gusto as she could manage to whilst heavily panting from her previous sprinting.
Seriously... This school was WAY too big! How was she the ONLY one late?!
A sweatdrop appeared on her head awkwardly as she stood frozen in the dramatic pose she entered on as she was stared down by the entire class with wide eyes, all of them stuck in a stupor at such a grand entrance from such a... Little girl?
Aizawa sighed boredly, shaking his head in a disappointed manner before addressing her, "This is class 1-A of Yuuei's prestigious Hero Course... Children shouldn't be here, you're interrupting, go away, shoo." He nonchalantly shooed her off with his hand, saying all of this with a completely serious, deadpan expression.
This time it was Asuna's turn to be shocked into silence. What did this... Raggedy walking sleeping bag just say to her ???
"I am not a child! I am Megumi! A S U N A M E G U M I !"
"I see... Well, Asuna Megumi, I know that you are not the age of a child, despite your physical appearance saying otherwise. And I also already knew your name, seeing as it is on my student list with your picture. But that does not mean that the way you conduct yourself is any less childlike. How do you expect to be a hero if you can't even show up to class on time? Take your seat child, and don't give me any more reasons to have you expelled." He drawled out with a yawn, before turning back to the class.
Asuna did as she was told, begrudgingly walking to her seat. This day couldn't have started off any worse...
"OOF- KYAAAA~!" Just before reaching her desk, she tripped over someone's backpack and fell right on top of Daniel, who was sitting in the desk that she fell into.
Daniel was instantly stolen, quite rudely, out of his daydream world when a rather loud exclamation broke the calmness that the classroom once had.
He quickly turned his head to look at who it was that had made such a commotion, and was instantly shocked. A child? How could a child have made such a grand entrance? He couldn't help but chuckle.
"Huh.. She must be in this class too, I wonder what her quirk is.." He murmured to himself as he looked back down to his book.
He could still hear the conversation going on between Aizawa Sensei and the girl, who he now found out was named Asuna, but he decided to go back to working on his paper instead of paying attention to it any longer.
This caused him to completely miss when Aizawa told her to go to her seat, and not see it coming when she fell over right on top of him after tripping over his backpack.
"OOF- oww.." He murmered with a groan, somehow having managed to stop the chair from toppling over.
As he opened his eyes again, he realized two key things, all too late:
One - Asuna was basically sitting fully on his lap facing him now.
Two - His hands were on her hips from where he grabbed on to stop them both from falling.
What an awful way to start off the first day of class...
"A-Are you okay, Megumi-San?" He asked her after finally managing to get a handle on his bearings.
He looked at her with shy concern, the patch crooked patch covering his eye directly opposite of hers. That was a rare sight. It wasn't often he found people that had to wear an eyepatch like him.
However, as soon as he finally fully processed the situation they were in, his face blushed a deep red.
Asuna could feel everyone's eyes on her again, but this time instead of shocked, most of the class looked heavily amused by the cliche that had just occurred right in front of their eyes, and some even broke out into laughter at the sight, unable to contain it.
Well... That was apart from a select few that she could pick out with her eyes no problem. An angry looking ash blonde boy, and a stoic looking heterochromic boy, to be specific, were the most notable.
Asuna blushed deeply, letting out a loud embarrassed squeak when she realized that she was fully straddling a boy with a similar looking eyepatch to hers.
In the blink of an eye, she immediately vanished, quite literally, from his lap. Or rather - from the space around him in general.
Daniel's face reddened even further when he noticed everyone's eyes on him, and he let out a breathless, embarrassed gasp.
In that moment, the girl that was in his lap suddenly dissapeared. This made him look around himself in shock, trying to figure out where she went, and how.
As he looked around, his eyes met with a few of his classmates. Two of them were the scowling ruby eyed blonde, and the boy with half red, half white hair and two different colored eyes that Daniel couldn't seem to get a read on.
'Oh Kami... Talk about first impressions... I wonder what they think of us now.' He thought to himself as he continued to scan the room in search of her, feeling very confused.
Not long after she vanished, Asuna reappeared at her desk. But when she did, she ended up appearing in a completely opposite position than she should have been, fully upside down and backwards in her seat, and it looked very uncomfortable, to say the least.
Aizawa watched everything unfold with a tired sigh, choosing to ignore what happened and just start on the lesson again instead.
Bakugou rolled his eyes and grumbled, saying something that sounded vaguely like "Extras.." under his breath.
Shouto eyed the whole ordeal with a straight face, his lack of facial expression making his thoughts on the matter completely unreadable.
Izuku watched with his mouth agape, not sure what to make of the Asuna girl, or what just happened. But he had a strange feeling that they would get along very well.
Asuna sat upright in her chair after struggling for a while, and coughed into her small fist awkwardly, turning her attention to the teacher as if none of that had occurred at all.
Daniel raised an eyebrow at Asuna and how awkwardly she landed, and made an awkward cough into his arm, still feeling heavily embarrassed of what had just occurred.
He adjusted his eyepatch and looked around the class once more, mumbling something under his breath as he fidgeted in his seat, using a secret technique of his to calm himself down.
In that moment, he heard Bakugou's grumbled comment, and frowned a bit, "Extras, huh..." he repeated to himself, before looking back to Asuna, noticing her complete nonchalant act as she tried to pretend that none of that just happened, and he couldn't help but smirk under his hand, before finally turning his attention back to Aizawa.
"Alright, all of you put these on and head to the field outside." Aizawa said as he dropped a pile of what looked to be blue and white Yuuei gym outfits on his desk in front of the class.
Everyone stood up at his words and walked forward, each of them grabbing their own gym outfit, before heading down towards the changing rooms next to the field to change.
Asuna had hers in one hand as she walked somewhat further behind the rest of the class, carrying her signature staff in the other hand. Once she reached the girl's locker room, she quickly put on the outfit and exited the changing room ahead of the other girls, and stood at the edge of the field to await further instructions.
Daniel followed everyone out of the classroom and got changed in the male changing rooms, his hair messing up a little as he put the outfit on.
He exited the changing rooms not long after Asuna did, and stood close to her without realizing.
"Umm... Hey." He greeted her as soon as he noticed that she was beside him, trying to fix his messed up hair as he did so, giving her a small smile. "How are you doing? I was a little worried after what happened earlier." He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck as he felt the embarrassment return.
Asuna jumped at the sudden greeting, turning around to see whoever had approached her. When she saw it was Daniel, the blush from earlier quickly returned to her face.
"I-I'm fine! The great Asuna Megumi w-would never be bothered by something like that...!" She stuttered out her response, somehow still managing to make her flustered voice sound prideful as she averted her eyes away from him shyly.
Daniel couldn't help his light chuckle at that as he gave her a tiny but amused smirk, before noticing how shy he looked. Her shy expression made him black once more, reminding him that they didn't really get off on the best foot.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that, great Asuna Megumi." He replied to her, his tone lightly teasing as he looked away. "I'm Daniel Blue." He introduced himself finally.
Asuna pouted a bit, her eyebrows twitching some at his teasing tone, but chose not to say anything against it for now, since part of her was happy that he actually bothered added "great" to her name. At least she now knew one person that didnt look down on her.
She jerked her head away from him quickly with a small "hmph", in an attempt to hide the small smile that formed on her lips. She looked back towards the field where Aizawa was about to start explaining the lesson to everyone.
The class was given a run down on what they were supposed to do for the lesson, as well as an ominous threat that the person in last place would be expelled after Aizawa felt that some people were being a bit too easygoing.
He threw a ball at Asuna without warning, catching her off guard, and thanks to that she didnt react in time as it bounced off of her head.
"Ah- Oww.." She flinched a bit, but quickly composed herself again and picked up the ball. He noted to himself that they would have to work on her reaction speed after that little fumble happened.
Asuna once more played it off, acting as if the ball hitting her in the head didn't just occur at all, and ignored the silent snickers coming from a couple of the students in the class.
"Since you somehow managed to rank first place in the battle part of the entrance exam, I'll have you demonstrate to the class how this will work..." Aizawa told her flatly, having Asuna step into the circle marked on the field next to him.
At Aizawa's words, nearly everyong in the class erupted into shocked murmurs. That is... Except for three people. The same three people that stood out before in the classroom.
Bakugou looked absolutely livid at the new information drop. How could such a little brat rank higher than him?! Shouto's eyes narrowed silently in her direction seeming even more focused on her now than he had been before. And Izuku's eyes were wide in surprise, his mouth gaping open once more.
Asuna easily ignored her murmuring classmates, reactions like that were the norm with her, after all. She stood at the ready, and looked back over to Aizawa.
"What was highest score for the ball toss in secondary school?" He asked monotonely.
"Uuh.. 16.5 meters.." She answered in a smaller voice than usual, knowing it wasn't a very high average score for that kind of thing.
At this point, the class just stood silently watching, not sure how to even react anymore at this point. What even was this girl's deal?
"Okay. Now try to do the same thing using your quirk." He instructed, backing up to give her space.
She nodded and pulled her arm back, then threw her ball with all of her might. As soon as the ball started to lose altitude, (which didnt take long) she used her quirk to open a portal just below the ball, and it fell into the portal and disappeared. She then reopened another portal as far away as her limits allowed, and let the ball drop to the ground.
Aizawa raised an eyebrow at that, then grinned broadly, holding up the distance reader for the class to see, showing how far the ball reached before hitting the ground.
"...NANIIIIIIII?!" Everyone shouted in unison as they read the huge number that was presented to them.
804.6 meters
When Daniel saw the number, his eyebrows shot up in shock as his eyes widened. However, he couldnt help the grin that appeared on his face. He was amazed, impressed, and shocked. But he was more amazed and impressed than he was shocked, honestly.
"How amazing.. Her quirk... No wonder she ranked first in the exams." He complimented, not meaning for anyone to really hear him, but he was so hyped up by what happened that his voice came out louder than he meant it to be, his excitement shown clearly by the large grin on his face.
He had never been the type to underestimate someone, but seeing that had absolutely blown his mind, and he chuckled again quietly.
"I wonder who's next..?" He questioned to himself quietly, looking around at the other students.
Bakugou was up next, scoring 705.2 meters. He got highly pissed off that his score was lower than Asuna's again, and threw an actual fit over it.
Next was Uraraka Ochaco, who's score was far more impressive than Asuna's, her getting an infinity sign.
Most of the other classes followed suit, scoring various numbers some very big, and some smaller.
Finally it was Izuku's turn. Asuna looked to the Green haired boy that reminded her too much of a peice of Broccoli. His first attempt failed miserably. He looked as if he was about to pull off something huge, but then suddenly his quirk just shut of, it appeared. In that instant he was wrapped up in Aizawa's scarf and scolded, their teacher's words not being audible at their distance, but he was clearly angry. Finally, he let the boy go and gave him another chance at the ball throw. Izuku stood for a few long moments, looking down at the ground as his hair shaded his face as he muttered darkly to himself, before finally looking back up with a fire in his eyes, and pulling his arm back for the throw. At the very last second, Asuna and Daniel heard a sonic BOOM and the ball shot forward at unmatched speed, and scored him a whopping 705.3 meters, coming just barely above Bakugou's score.
"This kid..." Aizawa grinned broadly once more, showing everyone the score, and at that, Bakugou finally snapped, charging at Izuku in a furious frenzy. Only to be stopped by Aizawa's scarf wrapping around him.
"Stop making me use my quirk so much, I have dry eye!" Aizawa scolded Bakugou, before letting him go again once he seemed to get himself under control.
So he had dry eye, huh? What a shame, with such an awesome quirk like that.
Asuna realized then that Broccoli boy looked to be in distress, and then noticed that he was gripping his hand tightly in a fist, the finger bruised and broken.
Ouch... She cringed at the thought of how painful it must be for him.
Aizawa called Daniel up to the circle next, throwing him a new ball to use and backing up.
Daniel immidiately straightened up and nodded, letting out a breath as he closed his eyes for a few seconds, using his senses to check for something, but when he couldn't find it, he grumbled and held his arm back with the ball, then threw it with everything he had, his hands glowing blue while he did so. He watched nervously as the ball started losing altitude much like Asuna's did, and his glowing blue hand shot out water at the exact moment before it was going to hit.
The water took on the shape of a dragon, and with a smack of it's tail, it shot the ball out much further than daniel could have by himself.
Daniel rubbed his head as he started to suffer a headache, and looked at the distance on the device to see that he scored 756.9 meters.
Asuna gaped widely at the sight of his quirk, thoroughly impressed by what she saw, so much so that she ended up letting her filter down for a moment to jump up and down in excitement. "WOW! So cool!" She shouted gleefully, always having having a love for those types of emitter type quirks. She couldn't help but think that the dragon he made was super amazing looking too!
The other members of the class were also impressed, but none of them reacted as openly as Asuna had. When she realized this, her eyes widened and she blushed in embarrassment for the third time that day. To try and cover it up, she quickly glanced away and whistled innocently, trying to play it off again.
Daniel immidiately blushed in modest embarrassment when he heard Asuna, and he covered his mouth with a fake cough to hide another smile as he went back to his place in the main group.
It made him really happy to hear someone get so excited over his quirk like that. He looked at the other students and Aizawa to see what they thought about it, though he had a strange faraway look in his eyes as he did so, like he was reminiscing something.
Next up was the 50 meter dash, Asuna used her portal again to transfer her from start to finish instantly, and just like before with the desk... She completely face planted into the dirt with an "OOF!"
This move, though slightly reckless, got her the fastest score of 0.5 seconds. Some guy with engines in his legs got 3.04 seconds. A frog looking girl got 5.58 seconds. Infinity girl got 7.15 seconds, and an eccentric french boy scored 5.51 in an... Eccentric fashion, to say the least, which looked almost as painful as Asuna's method. Almost.. Bakugou got 4.13, and Izuku got 7.02 seconds.
Finally, it was Daniel's turn, and he ran through it with as much speed as he could muster, using his quirk to boost his speed. While it worked to boost his speed, the use of his quirk again also made him start feeling almost sluggish. He scored 6.05 seconds.
Next up was the grip test, Asuna's quirk was useless here, so she only got a score of 24.94 KG. Izuku got 56 KG, and Asuna figured that he wouldn't be using his quirk again after that broken finger. A guy with buff octopus like arms got 540KG, shocking the whole class with his raw strength. Daniel got 64 KG here.
Standing long jump was next, Asuna made it well past the sandbox with her Portals, landing painfully once more. Daniel also cleared it, but was looking very tired already. Izuku was the only one to not clear the sandbox.
Then there was the sustained sideways jumps, asuna got 120 jumps per minute, using her Portal quirk for something like this would be too hard for her to control, unfortunately. Daniel got 135 per minute. His quirk helped slightly but due to the growing dehydration, he didn't do as well as he could have. Somehow the pervy grape managed to get the highest score here using his weird quirk.
And finally, the endurance run. Asuna could only run for around 15 minutes stopping and collapsing backwards to breath painful lungfulls of air after running for 5.63 KM. Daniel could now only run for 10 minutes before falling back, he held his head as his migraine started to get to him. He only managed to make it 3.74 meters on this round.
Asuna noticed Daniel's physical state slowly getting worse, and that he was gripping his head a lot, and once the tests were finished it finally clicked to her as to why.
The drawback of his quirk, it would make sense after all, with how much water he was outputting. If he output that much water from his body, it would likely severely dehydrated him.
As soon as she put the peices together in her head, she sat up from her place on the ground, walked over to Aizawa sensei, and then came back to where Daniel was laying with his migraine, two water bottles in tow.
She gently pressed one of the refreshingly cool bottles of water to his forehead, and held the other one that she had opened up to his mouth.
"Jeez, you're too reckless. If your quirk has such a drawback on your body, then you should really be more careful. Keep that up and you'll end up dropping dead one day, baka." She scolded him from her crouched position beside him, but her voice lacked any bite.
Daniel didn't immediately hear her words at first, as the water bottle on his forhead caused him to instantly relax. He then opened his eyes and looked up at her with a tired smirk. He pushed himself up a bit and began drinking the water, his cheeks red in embarrassment yet again because of this, but he appreciated it none the less, the fact that she cared enough to do this for him.
"I did try not to use too much of it, but you're right... Sorry." He apologized as he leaned up on his elbows, giving her another small smile. "Thank you, Great Hero Asuna Megumi." He added, his tone being genuine instead of teasing this time, causing Asuna to blush happily.
She couldn't help but give him a genuine, bright smile in response to his words, the first smile she had made in front of him. Nodding proudly in acknowledgement to his thanks, she stood up and held out a small hand to him to help him up after he finished his water.
"Of course, it's only natural that I, The Great Asuna Megumi, would help a comrade in need. Even more so now that I'm in the works of becoming the greatest hero there ever was! Just don't get ahead of yourself and start dragging me down~" She responded back with a mixture of playfulness and pride.
Daniel finished the water and smiled back at her kindly as he reached out to take her hand, pausing as he noticed how small and soft her hand was, jeez... How many times was he going to end up blushing today?!
"Well, I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing you become a pro hero, sweet Asuna." He replied to her warmly with another smile that this time held playfulness and tease in return to her bold statement.
Asuna's heart fluttered in her chest a bit when he added "sweet" to her first name, and looked away shyly again with an even deeper blush than any of the times before now. However, when he took her hand, a sudden seering hot sensation was felt pulsing through her, starting from the eye under her patch. The feeling couldnt exactly be described as pain. In fact, it felt more electrifying, pleasureful even. The sensation radiated through their whole bodies, and then passed almost as soon as it came.
Asuna quickly let go in shock, falling backwards on her butt with wide eyes. She was told about this years ago by her mother and father... That severely burning hot, yet overwhelmingly wonderful, almost electrifying feeling of happiness and pleasure that would happen at the moment of contact after a deep mutual bond had formed with a certain person. And that certain person would be considered your "soulmate" from then on.
'Dear Kami... This is an... unexpected development... how embarrassing..! Oh dear, oh no, what could I even say? What does one even do in a moment like this?!' Asuna thought to herself, panicking internally.
Those were all the clear thoughts Asuna could manage before her mind started working in overdrive and then suddenly blanking out. She was panicking, very much so. Not good. How embarrassing.
Finally, she just turned and took off, running away in the opposite direction, back towards the girls changing rooms to hide away.
Daniel's heart was racing in his chest after the initial reaction to their connection finally faded, his cheeks were burning extremely hot at the realization it had brought him to.
'She is my... Soulmate?'
And that's when he realized that she had ran off, and decided to take off towards the boys changing room in order to change as quickly as possible and hope to catch up with the clearly panicking girl that he would come to call his soulmate from that moment forth.
