Takes place Bones season 12, Doctor Who season 10
It was midday and Seeley Booth was riding his bike with his daughter, Christine. When , suddenly Christine fell down. Booth rushed to Christine to make sure everything was alright and that there weren't any serious injuries.
"Riding a bike is hard, Daddy," Christine complained to her father.
"No, it's okay, everybody falls down sometimes, even I fall down sometimes. Remember when I started riding my bike again, that I fell down a lot?" Booth recollected. Christine nodded.
"Can I have a drink?" she asked.
"Of course you can, c'mon, let's go home,"
Booth rode home with Christine and served her some lemonade and himself some coffee. Meanwhile, Temperance Brennan came in with her younger son, Hank.
"How was the bike ride?" Brennan asked, giving Hank some food.
"It was good, she fell down only 2 times, beating her personal best," Booth responded excitedly
"That's good. Now that she feels better about bike-riding, can I teach her the physics?"
"She's already enjoying it, why does she need to know the physics?"
"Well.."
Brennan was interrupted by her cell phone ringing, along with Booth's. They both grabbed a phone, but then realized they had grabbed the other's phone. After switching back phones, they answered their separate phones. After they were finished, Booth said,
"Okay, dead body in Maryland. Hey Parker!"
"Yeah?"
"Can you look after Christine and Hank?"
"Yeah sure,"
Booth and Brennan bolted out the door and went into the FBI car. On the drive there was silence for a good 20 minutes until Brennan tried to talk to Booth about teaching Christine the physics of bikes.
"Christine needs to know the physics of riding so that she can understand it better, therefore doing it better,"
Booth sighed "She's 6-years-old, how could she understand it?" regretting saying that as soon as he said it.
"Christine, like me, has an extraordinary brain and could easily understand physics,"
"Easily?"
"I understood quantum physics at 9, and the physics of a bike is simpler,"
"You know what, we'll talk later, not when I am driving,"
"But you always drive recklessly. You never can keep your eyes on the road in a conversation, you keep on hand on the wheel, and turn around dangerously at high speeds,"
"This conversation has happened before let's not let history repeat itself,"
"You just took your eyes off the road justifying my point,"
"How about we drive in peace and quiet?"
"Fine, but I'm still right,"
When Brennan and Booth got to the crime scene, Jessica Warren, Angela Montenegro, Jack Hodgins, Camille Saroyan, and James Aubrey were already there. Brennan went straight to the body while Aubrey filled Booth in on the details.
The body was found in a bog renowned for how unsanitary it is. The remains were soaking in water all filled with algae and silt. The bones had almost no flesh except for bare bits and bobs along with a few organs.
"How are the remains, Ms. Warren?"
"There is an entry wound near the L3 rib, but no exit wound, and all the other ribs near the chest have shattered, and the ribs near the bottom are in microscopic pieces while the ribs near the top are manageable pieces. The ribs in the back are completely intact without any nicks that I can see, but there are probably nicks that can be seen after the bones have been cleaned,"
"Very good, Ms. Warren,"
"And I have found no signs of a bullet inside of the body," Cam chimed in.
"I also found Vespa mandarinia around the victim's body, also known as the Asian Giant Hornet. They're native to Eastern Asia. Along with them, I found these guys. Grylloblattidae barberi. Fascinating little fellows. These two would never be found together. Time of death puts us at one week," Hodgins reported.
"Decomp confirms that," Cam agreed
"Ms. Warren, take a look at the skull," Brennan gestured.
Jessica and Brennan looked at the skull more closely.
"The sphenopalatine artery is too large for any human. This can't be a set of human remains," Jessica observed
"I've never seen any animal shaped like this, so this can only mean one thing," Hodgins implied, "This is an alien,"
