Coronavirus is a scientific term for a virus that has a corona-like shape around the body of the virus. The Coronavirus that is currently spreading across the world is a mutation of a cold virus that breaks down the immune system called Covid-19. Symptoms are fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing. According to WHO we're in a Phase 6 pandemic. A Phase 6 pandemic is a virus that has obtained community level outbrecks. People are sacred as a result people are spreading fake news about the virus faster than ever. Most of these people are trolls and conspiracy theorists. What things we do know is true is that as of March 15 a 168,000 cases have been reported worldwide in 140 countries and territories. With major outbreaks in mainland China and Europe. More than 6,400 have died and over 76,000 have recovered. The outbreak was first identified in Wuhan, China. It was first identified in December 2019. Over a 1,000 people have now been infected in the U.S. with Washington state being hit the hardest with 600+ infected. In the state of Illinois 66 people have been infected. In Lake County 5 people have been infected. The State Of Illinois declared a state of emergency because of the Coronavirus and has shut down all the schools, restaurants, and large public gatherings in the state.

It spreads between people in a way similar to influenza through coughing and sneezing. The time between exposure and symptoms is usually 5 days. If it gets worse it may lead to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress U.S. and many other countries are working on learning more on the Coronavirus in order to make vaccines. Treatment is currently aimed at managing symptoms and supportive therapy. The recommendations to prevent getting the virus include handwashing, covering your mouth when coughing, maintaining distance from people, and monitoring and self-isolating for 14 days.

The Coronavirus outbreak has resulted in several instances of supply shortages due to increased use of equipment to fight outbreaks, panic buying, and disruption of manufacturing and shipping. The viral outbreak has been a major destabilizing threat to the global economy. Some analysts have estimated that the impact could be as much as $300+ billion and could last for years. Many consider an economic recession to likely.

Most deaths have been the elderiy and people with underlying health issues. We all must do our part to help slowdown the spread of coronavirus by flowing the recommendations of the CDC and respecting the need for social distancing. Just one infected person can infect many others; don't take the chance of harming others or yourself.
