Light is sitting in his room, looking through the window. He is contemplating. He needs to contemplate. He is a hero after all. In his eyes of course. Some would rather say, a criminal.

'Those idiots' Light thinks. 'If I don't do it than who will?'

Light knows his limits. He has never killed an innocent. He goes to great lengths to make sure his targets are proven criminals. Yet they call him Kira. A killer. A messiah would be more appropriate.

'They all should thank me.' Light thinks with spite. 'I killed every scum they didn't dare to.'

'Hell, I killed scum they didn't even know about.' Light smirks.

Using his brilliant skills of hacking he tracked down so many sites and collected so much data that he managed to find people hiding on the internet. Alphas behind child trafficking and pornography. Light thinks of how satisfying it was to kill them and smiles in himself. He is particularly proud of those deaths he caused.

And all after being an omega. All from the confines of this room and house. He isn't allowed to roam outside at night, otherwise he would have. He would have gone to those fuckers' homes if need be. But even with all his intelligence he couldn't. He couldn't take such a huge risk. It's not easy being an omega. Omegas are supposed to be soft and pretty and they don't hurt a fly. While light is soft and pretty. He wants to kill every scum of an alpha present on earth.

Light can't help but notice a trend into the criminals he finds. All of them are alphas. Light has never killed an omega because he never found any omega guilty enough. Even if an omega was with a scum alpha, it was a forced bond. Those omegas were forced to submit against their will. The omegas were treated more like slaves. For the alphas to use anytime they want.

Light was starting to get angry just by thinking about it.

That's why light needs to contemplate, it's not just about him. It's about something bigger. He needs to save all those omegas. The death note is a gift from god, given to him to make up for his lack of strength in his weak and soft omega body and all these restrictions society put on him.

But light is running out of time. His parents are onto him but more importantly, L is onto him.

'Damn, why did I foolishly kill Lind L. Tailor? Now L knows where I live. He probably thinks I am criminal. 'Light thinks angrily.

He took a few deep breathes to calm himself.

'This anger is exactly what got me in this situation with L in the first place. I need to learn to be calmer. I can't let anyone see this me. The real me.' Light thinks.

As light is sitting there in his chair, watching the sunset, a kind of mellowness and sadness dawns upon him. He thinks of the little time he has left. He will soon be 18. Which means he will soon be married. His parents are already looking for a suitable alpha for him. He can't say no. Even his parents don't have a say in this. It's just how the system works. Every omega is to be married or at least have a fiancé before they turn 19. It's the law. It's for the safety and well-being of omegas they say.

'Safety my ass.' Light thinks.

It's difficult for omegas to survive without the care of an alpha. Which isn't true. Light can vow for it. He can prove it if chance be given. But he will never be given such a chance.

He can only hope that the alpha that comes into his life will be at least half decent and doesn't force himself on Light.

'As if I would let that happen anyway.' Light thinks.

'I bet L is an alpha. No omega will be given a title that important. But you never know.'

Light can dream.

'I wonder if L has an omega. What a lucky omega! Assuming L lets the omega be involved with the more interesting part of his life.'

'But there will be no life for me if I don't find a way around this marriage soon.' Light thinks.

Of course, he can still be Kira even after being married. It will be much harder that's for sure. With Ryuk being around as well. How will he find the time and privacy to track underground criminals? All while keeping up his image as the perfect omega!

Light thinks and thinks and thinks. And slowly falls asleep on his chair by the window.

Outside, the night sky is a black veil. The moon shines on it like a jewel. And no one knows why that's like a god.

Many miles away from Light, sits a man with a weird posture but incredible intellect.

"L, I would be forced to find an omega for you if you don't do it yourself." said an old man in a condescending tone.

"You must be aware that you are running out of time." He spoke again.

"Yes Watari, I am well aware." replied L in his typical bored voice. "Unfortunately, there are more pressing matters that need my attention. Like the Kira case."

"Very well. "said Watari giving up.

He has been trying his best to make his god-son listen to him for once and find a suitable omega of his choice. L is an alpha after all. This day was going to come sooner or later. L needs to understand that he can't evade an omega all his life. He must find someone before he turns 25. Even an alpha of such high status as L can't stop that.

But L wasn't thinking about that. All his focus was on Kira. Never in his life has L failed to solve a case. This will be no different.

'I am going to get to you Kira. It looks like you are a student with the careful timings you are killing in.' L thought.

'Thanks to your help I know you are in the Kanto region of Japan. I can't wait to find out how you kill.' L thought practically bursting with curiosity. He wanted to execute Kira. But he couldn't save himself from feeling some sort of kinship or perhaps a likeness in behaviour between him and Kira.

'He's just as childish as me.' L mused.

L had never booked a plane so fast in his life before. Now in Japan, he was going to hunt Kira down. He wouldn't let some serial killer alpha mock him and outsmart him. Kira has challenged his inner alpha. And L wants to win no matter what.

'I have already gathered that Kira must be related to the police. Kira seems to have every information only a police officer will have access to.' L thought.

'Those are the people that need to be investigated first. Specially any children they have who are students.'

"Watari, did you get all the files on every NPA officer, who have children which are students in the Kanto region?" L said.

"Yes L. I will bring them right away." replied Watari.

"And Watari, the NPA can't know that I suspect their children. They won't like that I am investigating them."

"I know L, you don't need to worry. I took care of everything."

After a few moments, there in Watari's hands, somewhere hidden amidst all those files was the file on Light Yagami just out of reach of L's hands by inches.

L had been studying these files for a few days now. It didn't help that there was only one of him to do all the work. Though it did help that L didn't sleep much. At first L put aside all those kids who were omegas.

'Kira can't possibly be an omega. He's an alpha with all the attitude he shows.' L thought. L didn't think it could be an omega. Omegas have an awfully good reputation. Also, L didn't think an omega would have the resources needed to commit murder.

'Very clever murders too. So much so that even I don't know how they happened. No, this can only be the work of an alpha.'

But after days of research, spying and snooping into people's phones, watching them through cameras, looking at their histories, having them followed. Putting wire taps in their rooms, with very difficulties mind you, he could not find a single alpha that he thought could be Kira. Most of them were obnoxious alpha kids just starting to get in their teens, far too young, some far too old. Not one of them was particularly intelligent enough to hack into the NPA's database, much less be a mastermind criminal.

He was being forced to widen his options.

'It wouldn't hurt to go through the omegas one time, would it?' L thought, a little frustrated at not finding one single clue about Kira. 'Either Kira is too good at hiding or I am looking at the wrong spot.'

L took his time reading about every single omega. If he's going to do this, he's only going to do this once.

'I feel as if I am doing something wrong suspecting poor omegas.' L thought. 'Oh, that reminds me, I need to find one for myself too.' L sighed. He was starting to feel a migraine coming. How is he supposed to find someone he could trust? Or worse, love. He's not like the other alphas. He can't promise flowers or cuddles or time. He's too busy in himself and cases. How could L know that he will be able to love them? What if he didn't? What he could offer was money and freedom. Freedom to do anything they want to. Or pursue anything they want to.

'I don't want to break someone's hopes and dreams of a good alpha.' L thought solemnly. 'All I can do is provide and protect.'

L sighed again and went back to work. It's the only thing that he knows and understands, the only thing that can keep him going.

After a few more hours, L had to admit that the only file that he thought might be a potential suspect, was an omega. No ordinary omega by any means. Top in his class, school and Japan. Too perfect, too intelligent. And too normal. He did everything right. No one had a single bad comment to give on him. And to put cherry on the cake, he once helped his father, chief of the NPA, solve a case which he was not given a credit for to save his identity. Which proves that he has skills other than remembering textbooks.

'It's too perfect. His father is the chief of the NPA no less!' L thought.

He ticks every single box. He's not even married yet. He's 18, so a year before he has to be married. Which means he's alone and has the freedom to do things his way without the trouble of being worried about getting caught.

'I wonder if Chief Yagami had found an alpha for him yet. It wouldn't be difficult with the looks this omega has.'

'I need to investigate this, if not for suspicion then just for the sake of it.'

And the first step towards that would be finding a way into Chief Yagami's life and home. He couldn't just go to the NPA and say that he suspects Chief Yagami's son who is an omega. They would never let him spy on him or install cameras in his room. He will have to investigate in secret. He will have to go in front of him if he wants to gain any information on this suspect.

'Only then will I be able to see what you are really like, Light Yagami.'
