Then

The sun was falling over the horizon, as the Winx, Roxy, and earth fairies gathered in the Courtyard of Judgement. Queen Morgana sat on the crystal throne, watching intently as Nebula led the three Wizards down the path and up the floating steps.

"Ogron, Anagan, Gantlos," Morgana stood. "Before the ceremony begins, do you wish to speak?"

"We are ready to face your judgement," Ogron said, before falling to one knee. "We renounce our magic and give ourselves up to you as mere mortals."

"Your presence here honors you. This event will be remembered for generations," Morgana stated, as Nebula opened the golden chest she carried.

"Queen of fairies, please accept the Black Circle as a sign of our surrender," Ogron raised his head meet Morgana's gaze. The queen met his eyes, before turning to the chest Nebula offered. Morgana reached inside and pulled out a small black and purple ring, studying it, before she slid it onto her finger. For a brief moment, it glowed, before the light receded and stayed dormant on her hand.

Morgana lowered her hand to stare down at Ogron. "You may stand. Let's discuss the terms of your surrender."

Ogron stood slowly, but said nothing. It was at this moment, Gantlos stepped forward.

"We'll give our magic up, Queen Morgana, and admit to our crimes, in exchange for immunity. We also ask that you have your healers look at our friend, Duman. As you know, he is too ill to attend this hearing, but we can promise he will adhere to any of your rules that you set for us," Gantlos requested.

"I will have my best healers look at your fallen comrade," Morgana nodded. "In exchange for immunity and my protection here on Earth, you will reside in the castle of Tir Na Nog- not as prisoners, but as extended guests. You will give up your magic, until I see fit to return it. Do we have an agreement?"

The three wizards looked at each other, before Gantlos and Anagan looked at Ogron, who nodded tiredly, "Your terms are reasonable, Queen Morgana. We agree to them."

"Very well," Morgana smiled. "It has been recognized. Terms of surrender have been reached, and the Wizards of the Black Circle are no longer enemies of the Earth fairies."

The cheers of the Winx and the fairies present was heard all the way in the castle.

Now

Roxy stepped off the bus and on to the dirt path. Before her, the large pink archway of Alfea school for fairies stood, the school itself loomed even larger over the girl. The fairy of animals couldn't ignore the ball of nerves in her chest though, that felt ready to explode.

Gods above, the last few months had been... interesting to say in the least.

In the weeks following the Wizard's surrender, it had been a game of catch and release in terms of bringing Duman back to full health. It had taken Nabu, multiple Earth faires, and Roxy herself, inexperienced as she was with her magic, to heal the shapeshifter. Some days, he'd look just days away from being back on his feet, only to relapse and go back to fitful fever dreams and uncontrolled shifts.

Being the fairy of animals that she was, it had hurt Roxy, as she had felt his pain. She had seen how it had affected the other wizards as well, their concern and fear at losing one of their own. It had only fueled Roxy's determination to help the shapeshifter, despite what they had done to her... and to her mother.

Finding out Morgana was her mother had been another trip entirely, especially when told the story of why it was that Roxy and her father had no memory of her.

Roxy was so caught up in her thoughts, she didn't notice when she collided with another girl that had abruptly stopped in front of her. With twin yelps, both girls fell to the ground in a pile of limbs and bags.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Roxy exclaimed, as she scrambled to pick herself up, "I wasn't paying attention!"

There was a grunt, before the other girl stood and then turned to face Roxy.

The other fairy had pale skin, well manicured nails, and she was dressed in what Roxy assumed could be high dollar clothes, which were now covered in dust. She seemed otherwise unharmed, as she finally pushed aside a few strands of her pink hair to settle her piercing gold eyes on Roxy.

"I'm... sorry?" The other girl looked confused, as she frowned and then brushed dust off her patterned skirt, "Did you say something?"

"Huh?" Roxy blinked, then shook her head, "Uh- sorry, you just look like someone I know. Um, here, let me help you! I'm so sorry I ran into you, I was just caught up in my thoughts and I wasn't paying attention and this is my first day here so I'm a bit nervous and-"

"Ah, senorita, por favor," The girl reached out and took her suitcase away from Roxy with a rather timid smile. "Please, take a breath. There's no need to be sorry. I should have been paying more attention myself, truthfully." She leaned down and picked up Roxy's own bag, handing it over to her, "Um... what's your name?"

"Oh!" Roxy chuckled and rubbed the back of her head, before holding her hand out, "I'm Roxanne Hunter!"

"Roxanne," The other girl said, as though testing the name on her tongue.

"But, uh, my friends all call me Roxy!" Roxy beamed, "Feel free to do the same!"

The girl gave her a smile, "Roxy it is."

"What about you?" Roxy asked.

The girl blinked.

"What's your name?"

"Oh... Nyx. My name is Nyx Wilde," Nyx gave Roxy a small smile. "So, Roxy, where are you from?"

"Heh, I'm from Earth," Roxy replied, as she adjusted her bag over her shoulder. "What about you?"

Nyx fell quiet, looking away and towards where a group of fairies were gathering at the front steps. After a moment, she answered, her voice clipped, "Merula."

Roxy blinked at the change in tone, but Nyx was quick to continue.

"I've never heard of Earth. What is it like?" Nyx asked, looking genuinely curious. The two girls continued toward the front of the courtyard.

Roxy chuckled, "It's... different. I find it hard to actually describe it, since it's such a melting pot of so many cultures and peoples."

"Well, what about where you're from? Surely you could describe your home?"

"Oh, well, that's easy! Gardenia is always warm and sunny, and it's located on the coast, right near a beach. I have a lot of friends from there, too, and I help my dad at the bar he manages," Roxy rattled off, eager.

"Did any of your friends come here with you? Or perhaps go to another school?" Nyx asked.

"Uh, actually, that's a funny story..." Roxy rubbed the back of her head, "I'm the first fairy to show up on Earth in about fifteen years."

Nyx stared at her, baffled.

"Well, maybe not so much funny as it is long," Roxy trailed off, falling silent as she wondered how she could explain that a group of Wizards now undergoing 'reformation' had been on their way to committing mass genocide then ultimately failing because positive magic outweighed their own negative.

"You just did," Nyx said, amused.

Roxy blinked, "Huh?"

"You said all that out loud," Nyx giggled, clapping a hand over her mouth to try and muffle the noise.

"... Whoops," Roxy chuckled, nervously.

"But you're right. That does sound interesting," Nyx commented. "I'd like to hear it, if you wouldn't mind telling me the full story."

The chattering of other fairies suddenly hushed, and both Nyx and Roxy looked up to see two women stepping out of the main doors and into view on the top step. The gray haired woman offered a smile and stepped forward.

"Hello, everyone, and welcome to Alfea College for fairies, and a new year! I see many new faces, and some familiar ones too," The woman said.

"That's headmistress Faragonda," Roxy murmured to Nyx. "I had the pleasure of meeting her back in the spring, when she asked me to apply for Alfea."

"And, this year there's one new fairy I'd love everyone to meet. I am happy to introduce Roxy!" Faragonda gestured to where Roxy stood, and the girl quickly went red as everyone turned to her.

"Uh... Hi?" Roxy squeaked, waving.

"Roxy is from Earth, where magic was absent for a very long time, but through her courage, magic is returning on her home," Faragonda continued, giving the girls a warm smile. "And she's here at Alfea, thanks to some of your fellow peers, the Winx!"

Faragonda pointed to the courtyard, all the girls turning to see a golden portal open, before six figures materialized on the green.

"Hey there everybody!" The redhead smiled, "We're back!"

Some of the older students cheered and rushed forward to greet the newcomers. Nyx and Roxy hung back, Nyx tilting her head.

"The Winx? Who are they?" She asked, sounding clueless.

"The girls who helped me figure out I was a fairy and that magic even existed to begin with," Roxy grinned. "Bloom and I actually went to high school together, though only briefly. She's three years older than me."

"Huh," Nyx hummed.

"Now, now, girls!" The other woman standing with Faragonda clapped her hands, gathering everyone's attention, "There will be plenty of time to catch up with one another later. For now, you need to get you room assignments and schedules before going on to settle in your rooms. Class begins on Monday, and you all need to ready and well rested."

Faragonda nodded, "So please, girls, form a line and receive your papers from Griselda. She's the head of discipline here, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask any one of your teachers!"

After receiving their handbooks, schedules, and room assignments, Roxy and Nyx found each other again right outside dorm suite number twenty-eight. They stared at each other, before Roxy grinned, "So, we're dorm mates, huh?"

"Looks like," Nyx agreed, a small smile flickering at her lips. She gestured to the door, "After you."

Roxy's grin widened as she stepped up to the door and opened it. Instantly, both she and Nyx were drawn to the two arguing girls surrounded by unopened boxes and bags.

"I don't care, Coral, just make up your damned mind!" A russet haired girl with blue eyes was saying, voice thick with a Southern accent, "It honestly doesn't matter! We can either room with each other, or with the new kids!"

"I'm asking you because you're the one that's always so eager to make friends! Being roommates with whoever ends up in our dorm seems like something you would suggest!" The other girl replied, running a hand through her short red and blue hair. She rolled her eyes, and finally noticed Roxy and Nyx, "Oh! Hello!"

The other girl turned, annoyance turning to surprise to excitement.

"Did we come in at a bad time?" Roxy asked, smirking a little.

"Uh, well, it depends on who you'd like as your roommate," The girl with the accent chuckled.

"Ignore her," The green eyed fairy said. "Welcome to Alfea. I'm Coral," She pointed at the other fairy across from her, "And this is my cousin."

"Hiya!" She waved, "I'm Persephone! Who are you?"

"Nice to meet you," Roxy placed a hand on her hip, adjusting the bag over her shoulder. "I'm Roxanne, but my friends all call me Roxy."

Three sets of eyes turned to the final girl in the room. Nyx blinked at them, before giving a small smile, "My name's Nyx. It's... nice to meet you all."

Persephone beamed, "Alright then, darlins. Now that introductions are all out of the way, why don't we figure out living arrangements?"
