The silence was overwhelming like a dark cloud shadowed over a field of wheat; this being the empty cliffside that one Ruby rose knelt on as she looked on at her mother's grave. Flowers freshly picked sat neatly upon the marked gravestone, Summer Rose engraved on its surface. She had been here an hour now, choosing this as her solemn relaxing and venting grounds. After all, Beacon had fallen a week ago and she was still processing it. The place she called her home away from home, where she had made lasting bonds and friendships. It was where she felt she fit in. It was also now the home taken from her, the place she lost many things dear to her, including Penny, Pyrhaa and her innocence. Nothing in the world could have prepared her for that.

Eyes open and silver orbs filled with tears as she looked on at her mother's name. Three people she held dear yet had known for such a little time had been torn from her and Ruby had been helpless to fix it. Her voice was hoarse and dry. Ruby hadn't talked in a few days despite coming to see her mom everyday since she had been back.

"Mom...I don't think I can be here anymore. It's Dad. When I returned from Beacon, he called me by your name when we got into a fight. He hasn't looked nor talked to me since. I..It hurts."

She had to take a breath, those words choking her up once she realized what she had said. She was living the memories all over again, being they were now refreshed on her mind. Taking a moment to recoup, she continued talking.

"The look on his face was something I remembered seeing on his face often after you passed. He would look at me like that every so often. I didn't understand it then but now...I get it. I look so much like you that it pains him to even look at me. Uncle Qrow..sometimes he does the same but I think he catches himself because when I saw it, he smiled and hugged me. He misses you too."

She had gotten that off her chest, a sigh of relief as she looked over the cliffside view to take in the beautiful scenery. It was somber, and the evening sunset had made it far more beautiful than she could ever remember it being. Maybe it wasn't that bad to be up here, least not in the moment. Another wave of sadness overtook her as she continued to speak her feelings and mind.

"Yang..That's all messed up too. She got into a fight during the Fall of Beacon. THe guy who did it, he was really bad and he took one of her arms. Not the whole thing but even if he took a hair off her head, it was enough to make me hate this man. But Yang, I wasn't there for her and I think she hates me for it. She hasn't said a word to me either, won't respond to me when I try to hug her and just ignores me. I failed her mom, I failed Dad and you. I failed Pyrhaa and Penny. I lost both of them during the whole mess. I just wanted to be there for them and I failed. What good am I if I can't save my friends?!"

As she had continued speaking, her voice got louder and louder until she was screaming, all the while tears streamed down her face and it showed no signs of stopping. She felt broken. If someone heard her, who cared because she didn't. As her anger got the best of her, flesh met with stone as Ruby's fist struck the grave and cracked it, causing it to break into two. Eyes went wide as she realized what she had done. Getting up from her kneeling position, she attempted to press the two pieces back together but to no avail.

The commotion had summoned the nearby Yang. She had followed Ruby out to the cliffside, not to eavesdrop but to be a shoulder for her half-sister. Yang knew that she had been distant to Ruby but she hoped the younger girl had understood why. It seemed that was not the case. While Yang was home feeling sorry for herself, Ruby was feeling the weight of everything on her shoulders. Though Yang didn't see what happened initially, when she looked her eyes were wide. Ruby was trying to piece the slab back together. Yang's heart broke, not for the gravestone but for Ruby.

The blonde began edging forward and the crying Ruby had ceased and left the stone alone, leaving it with a somber, "I'm sorry." Yang had attempted to reach out with her lone arm but Ruby was already moving past her, her cloak swaying in the wind. Eyes went wide as Yang did not just see her sister but the visage of her mom, the same way she had left for the final time.

"Ruby-"

She was quickly cut off by the silver eyed girl.

"Save it Yang. Don't bother trying to make amends now that you heard what I said. Just leave me be."

Without another word she moved toward the approaching Jaune, Nora and Ren; the three surviving members of Team JNPR. As she moved away from Yang, the blonde broke from her shock and went to grab the shorter girl. This was a foul move as Ruby swiveled and struck Yang in the face, her nose bleeding and her lower lip split.

"Don't fucking touch me! You don't think I don't know what you and dad say about me?! I heard everything."

Anger overtook Yang and the next words she would live to regret.

"This is what we meant. YOU'RE LEAVING US JUST LIKE HER!"

Ruby gave a saddened smile as she knew exactly whom they meant given she had just said she knew what they spoke about when they thought she was asleep.

"Fine Yang. Then let's make it even more close."

Ruby's eyes were empty as she dropped Crescent Rose and walked past Yang toward the grave. As she stood on the cliffside, she picked up the two halves of her mother's grave and hugged them to her chest. Seemingly activating her semblance, rose petals began to spread in the wind as she turned around and looked at them all. Yang wasn't sure what Ruby was thinking but as the girl began falling backwards, everyone shot forward to grab her however they were not fast enough. The girl had disappeared on the horizon before they reached her. Only rose petals remained as they reached the edge, even as they looked down it was just a blizzard of petals obscuring the girl as she fell further and further.

Ruby Rose had said her goodbyes, and Yang had pushed her.
