Hey guys, it's Mae, coming at you with a Quarter Quell because I have the time right now and I'm craving some epic Quell time. The submission form and info will go up on my profile in the next few days, and the first part (that's right, there's so much more) of the Quell twist is in the A/N at the end of this chapter. For now, please enjoy a stanza of the poem inspiring this story:
Excerpt from The Garden of Proserpine
by Algernon Charles Swinburne
From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods may be
That no life lives for ever;
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.
A/N: A couple of things should probably be addressed at this point; here are some questions with which you may find yourself:
I. Why the heck is Mae starting another story when she's still stuck in Intro hell with her first one? Has she lost her mind? Can I trust her not to abandon this story? Okay, so here's what's always been the issue with Inferno: when I started it, I didn't really have a good way to advertise. Thus, I ended up with a small group of amazing Tributes and then a lot who I either had to take despite sub-par forms because I wasn't getting submissions or had to make myself as fillers. Hopefully, this story will be a well-sized group of great Tributes whom I feel I can really work with. You can trust me to do this one in a more timely manner.
II. What in the world is the Quell twist, pray tell? The very best parts of the Quell twist are fun surprises that come into play in the Pre-Games and the Arena, but for the Reapings I'm simply messing with the ages a little bit. The age range for this Quell will be 8-16.
Additionally, I will also be asking for submissions of Mentors and Escorts for this story, so if that's more your groove that's an option as well, and those will be First Come First Serve.
See you guys soon with more!
